Shelly Pearce, who is Nintendo’s UK Marketing and PR Director, has announced that she is leaving the firm after seventeen years to embark on a new career at Anki Europe. Pearce will be the Senior Marketing Director for the company which created Anki Drive, which is a car game with real cars and tracks controlled by smartphones. Simon Kemp, who is Nintendo UK general manager will oversee operations until a suitable replacement is found.
“Shelly has been a key part of the Nintendo family for nearly 18 years and we are very sorry to see her go,” said Kemp. “Both at a European, and then a UK level, Shelly has played a key part in our communications team and we’d like to thank her for her ongoing commitment and drive. We wish Shelly every luck for the future.”
Anki chief marketing officer Craid Rechenmacher said: “Shelly’s extensive marketing experience with one of the great gaming companies of our time is a welcomed addition to the Anki family. Her knowledge and expertise in the video game and toys-to-life market will help amplify the awareness for Anki Overdrive – a product that crosses into new territory by blending toys, interactive games, robotics and artificial intelligence.”
Pearce added: “Being part of such a young, innovative and creative team, I’m looking forward to this Christmas as Anki solidifies its leadership position in entertainment robotics, pushing the toy industry forward to explore how technology can deliver amazing new entertainment experiences never before possible.”

Yes
She quit because of locked of voice chat
Hopefully replaced by someone better and more aggressive on the TV advertising side.
Good for him he was old and need to take some breaks sense Nintendo worked his butt Off.
She, her.
Shelly is a woman’s name, you know.
Shelly de Killer begs to differ.
Clearly you either didn’t read, or are trolling terrible, but IT’S A SHE, put your glasses on.
Well according to game sales not much marketing work was being done
Maybe someone like me should be there. I done Creative Media and done PR. I’m a Nintendo fan. Why not let fans help with their Marketing strategies!
>>>I’m going there first and if I’m chosen, I’ll give the words “aggressive negotiations and marketing” a whole new meaning and will be the end of the Xbot infection>>>
Working for the actual firm, maybe, but it’s not desirable to have fans running around creating their own marketing, publicity that you can’t control is publicity that can turn against you in a second.
Hey, Did you get an e3 Invitation?
Hey! The programme hasn’t been introduced into Ireland and I won’t be doing it. But stuff like this is tempting when it comes haha It’s very strict!
inb4 replacement executive Gordon Tatanga.
Why is everything sugar coated? Shelly didn’t leave Nintendo after 17 years, she got fired. But when you are that high up on the ladder, they always let you leave gracefully. She gets to tell a story about finding new opportunities somewhere else, but in reality she hates leaving.
Let’s face it, Nintendo is doing horrible in the U.K., and the first step to recovery is good marketing. She was in charge of marketing in the U.K., and she did a really BAD job… She deserved to get fired. I hope they get someone much much more qualified. Don’t just get someone because they have a college degree, get someone who actually knows wtf they are doing…
I hope that she did get the boot and this marks the beginning of Nintendo’s redemption of UK.
Nice to take on something new. I’m also feeling like other nintendo marketing bosses should leave or get replaced. Nintendo’s marketing needs to be better. Wii U would have sold way more units if the marketing of Nintendo had better people.
Exactly
1. She most likely left or was fired because she was doing a terrible job at marketing and or Nintendo constricted what she wanted to do because everyone knows nintendos marketing has been piss poor every god damn where
2. Nintendo definitely need to advertise much more and outside of only big games coming to the wii u
3. Me and my brother talk about this every now and then that Nintendo dropped the ball with many things regarding the wii u we both agree on that but we disagree on if Nintendo would have advertised possibly especially with the games they have in the past when the wii u first came out and now then the wii u would have sold much more
4. Like the sony commercials for the ps4 and microsoft with the xbone I see much more of those commercials then wii u commercials and now I know nintendo is stingy with their money and most likely want to save up as much as possible but they need to spend 500 million to 1 billion dollars throughout a year to advertise the hell out of the wii u across all channels or at least double or triple the amount that they spend on the 3ds across all channels and not just a select amount of channels
5. This pisses me off and I’m sure other people too but I well you have to work with what you have
6. Hopefully nintendo fix this god damn issue with their next home console and that I think is all I want to say on this matter
Well let’s hope she gets replaced by Justin Ridley or José Ganondorf XD
here a good news I guess. I guess Nintendo must have put her on performance discipline and after 6 months they told her to go. Cause in UK we have employment laws and you can’t fire somebody like this especially after so many years. Anyway it would be interesting to know what budget nintendo have for marketing or a marketing plan cause it may not be her fault. I hope the new guy is not a nintendo fan but a gamer with lot of experience in marketing and sales. Either way nintendo will have to step up and do a better job in Europe.
Exactly
Reblogged this on CURIOSIDADES NA INTERNET .COM.
Thank god. The UK marketing for Nintendo products has been lacking since I was a kid. Hopefully this change is for the better!
Getting paid to do nothing for 17 years on what is probably a very high salary. I salute this woman.
Good riddens
good riddance. I find it hard to believe anyone could have done a worse job.
@Deepsouth Consider it a form of formalities for those up in the ladder. Nintendo wants to keep a good image out there and this advertiser did her job for 17 years, the least they can do is just thank her for the work she’s done in the past. A person will get fired but their past achievements will not be left unmentioned, unless you’re at the bottom totem pole.
Yay! First Nintendo of America gets a new guy to be in charge of marketing that actually knows what the fuck he’s doing & will be an aggressive marketing manager, unless Nintendo of America’s higher ups intentionally held their marketing team back the past 2-3 years, & now Nintendo of Europe has gotten rid of the dumb ape in charge of their marketing. Hopefully the guy picking up for this woman till a replacement is found is so good at marketing that they just promote him to marketing manager.
