With the end of 2015 fast approaching we have already seen a number of end of year lists. The latest one to be published comes courtesy of technology publication Wired. Interestingly, they have placed the ingenious Super Mario Maker above big hitters such as Bloodborne and The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt. Here’s their choices (the first 9 games are unranked)
- The Beginner’s Guide
- Bloodborne
- Cibele
- Her Story
- Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
- n++
- Splatoon
- Undertale
- Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
- Game of the Year: Super Mario Maker

Yeah, yeah, yeah, SMM is really good, and from here I can hear all the bells and whistles, and see all the hats off as well.
However, Nintendo needs to deliver more content to it ASAP.
Needs more Super Mario Bros 2 enemies & bosses like Birdo. Fucking Birdo costume… Really, Nintendo? Like I said before, not what most of us meant when we were asking for Birdo!
defintely… SMBU costumes and other players would be awesome as well.. Toon Link, etc
Nintendo logic — that is, the lazy way of carrying the business: Why give them the actual characters when we can offer just the costumes?
*Bowser laughs in the background*
I don’t think it’s going to happen. Remember, SMB2 in the west ≠ SMB2 in Japan.
But they did release the original Japanese game as Super Mario USA with Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, & Toad replacing the original characters many years later, so it’s been pretty much made as part of the Super Mario universe, apparently a Super Mario multiverse now since Paper Mario is apparently an alternate dimension, in not just the West now but Japan as well. Not to mention the many things in the game have been used in future Mario games in both America & Japan like Luigi being able to jump higher than Mario while his legs wiggle a bit during his jump & the Toad character being able to jump at half the height as Mario. Not to mention the heavy use of the Shy Guys in many Super Mario games since.
Yeah, all that’s true. I’m just saying that I don’t think Japan has our SMB2 as present as we have it when they decide what gets in or not. It would be more probable if they wanted to give the western market a bone, for whatever reason.
Oh yes super mario maker, i loved new super mario bros u creating the levels and lot of new stuff to do, it’s so good to see good graphics and new gameplay everytime, nice one Nintendo.
Love that Wired magazine.
So many people are naming Super Mario Maker the best game of 2015. Yet I was getting tired of it after the first few times I played. Doesn’t surprise me though. Most people are more easily amused than I am. But still, it’s good that one of Nintendo’s games is getting good attention.
