Kimishima Would Like To See More Titles Like Splatoon And Super Mario Maker

Following on from our previous post regarding Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima’s comments on the 3DS, Kimishima has also spoken briefly about Wii U titles.

Kimishima has stated that he would like to see more titles released with the same favourable reputation of the likes of Super Mario Maker and Splatoon. With the two title’s success so far, it’s clear to see why Nintendo would want to create games that appeal to fans in the same way, and although the Wii U in comparison to the 3DS hasn’t touched on the same amount of sales, the two titles have definitely made an impact in improving the Wii U’s overall units sold.

It will be interesting to see what Nintendo has in store for this year, and what new franchises or titles will be released.

Thanks, Paidenthusiast

        1. Well it sure has it’s hardcore following in it’s ranked battles (in the same way that even Mario Kart has it’s competitive following) but the game is easy to pick and play, requires no previous knowledge of a franchise, is rated E for everyone so it’s perfect for children and is something almost anybody can easily get to

The Wii U failed to appeal to both casuals and hardcores to be fair. They need to appeal to both. Like it or not, anybody can be a casual gamer, even your grandma, a hardcore gamer is a lot harder

What Artur said. It is a casual game just like Call of Duty, Madden, Fifa, Party Games like Mario Party, & racing games. But that doesn’t change the fact that all of those games do have their hardcore gamer following.

  1. I hate statements like these, what the fuck is he talking about? If he said online games or new innovative ideas then okay, but all he is saying is “Duuurrrrrrr splatoon and mario maker did well, I would like more games that do well, I would like our products to not fail”. No fucking shit, he might as well say “I hope nintendo does not go out of business”

  2. Never! The last thing we need are more 1-player barren online titles (that require a REALLY GOOD internet connectivity), and more glorified plotless level-editor. But here are ideas:

-A TRUE spiritual successor to the explorative SM64/Sunshine/Galaxy games.
-Another LOZ game with the same bright tone/graphics as Skyward Sword.
-More than 72 new Pokemon in a generation.
-Rereleases of SEGA Saturn, 32X, and Dreamcast titles on the eShop.
-An F-Zero beat’em-up spin-off (where Capt. Falcon can Falcon Punch outside of SSB and actually bounty hunt), along side an F-Zero sequel (so fans won’t bitch similar to Metroid Prime: Federation)
-No more handheld SSB ports (where characters are cut because they can’t make good enough hardware to support them, but insist on the rost being the same for both versions)

Is Kimishima becoming the goat of Nintendo?

~*1. Have you seen the teaser trailers for Zelda U? It’s got Skyward Sword’s artstyle written all over it, so Nintendo has us covered there.

      2. Sucks this gen of Pokemon had so few new Pokemon. :/

      3. I wouldn’t even care about Federation Farce being made if we were given some information on a true Metroid game also being made. BUT I’m all for a F-Zero spin off game where Captain Falcon gets to show off his bounty hunter & martial artist side. A combination of a beat-em-up game, shooter game, & racing game would make for a great spin off. Think of Grand Theft Auto meets Need For Speed Most Wanted meets Metroid Prime (minus the forced 1st person viewpoint.)

      4. Ugh! Please don’t remind me that one of my favorite characters (R.I.P. Ice Climbers) from Smash got removed in this incarnation of the franchise…*~

  3. Yes please! Splatoon is my favorite game this generation, or atleast the most addictive one. Second place goes to Xeno X, and when Zelda U comes out I imagine that will top even Splatoon. Zelda is my favorite franchise ever.

  4. I don’t totally agree with Kimishima, what he is saying lot of other games sold as well Yoshi Wolly World 1.31m, Animal Crossing HHD 2.93m and finally Hyrule Warriors exceeded over 1m globally and has surpassed Tecmo expectations they were really impressed planning to make more western collaboration, I seriously though Hyrule Warriors is an excellent hack ‘n slack on a battlefield experience and it was awesome, lot of people don’t tend like battlefield because they don’t like battlefields and that’s why not many will like this game, people who do like warriors on battlefield should play and will enjoy this game from start to finish, it’s much better game than Dynasty Warriors and is very high quality title.

  5. ~*Let the shackles be released!*~ Chains of Lucifer X3 ~*Or fall forever!*~

~*So more casual games that can hook hardcore gamers & make them forget the lack of hardcore games on a Nintendo console? Got it!*~
