Ubisoft Is Opening A New Studio In The Philippines To Develop “AAA console games”

Ubisoft has revealed plans of establishing a brand-new studio in the Philippines in the second quarter of 2016. According to the Assassin’s Creed and Just Dance publisher, the new production studio will hire up to 50 people in its first year. It will also collaborate with other studios to develop “AAA console games.” It has yet to be announced whether this includes projects for Nintendo platforms, such as the forthcoming NX.

“Every day, Filipinos leave the country in search of opportunities elsewhere,” says Chip Go, Ubisoft Philippines’ new studio manager. “I was one of those people eight years ago, and now I’m very happy to come back and bring my own experience in AAA game development.”

“We have huge ambition for this team, who will play a part in creating some of Ubisoft’s biggest and most beloved games. Ubisoft Philippines will be recruiting 50 new team members this year, from artists to programmers, designers to project managers, and we are very confident of our ability to build a strong team to take up these challenges.”

  1. Ah, those poor people, will get hired, be excited then Vivendi (the company trying to take over Ubisoft) will succeed and make thei rplans to make Ubisoft Mobile/PC only into a reality and they will be out of a job already lol.

  2. This move is driven by pure greed, i.e., the desire for cheap labor that they can underpay and overwork. They already treat their NA labor like garbage. I don’t even want to think about how they’ll treat these poor SOBs. Despicable. I think I’m ready to boycott Ubisoft. Won’t be hard. I haven’t bought a title from them since Rayman for Wii U.

  3. Outsourcing helps big companies. But for Philippines it helps out to bring in people to experience and enhance their skills without working on other countries. Cheap labor it seems, it’s fine and just more into health wellness and work-life balance. But we all know once there is a deadline, they would be extending hours if needed.
