Nintendo DS: Nintendo Makes The Case For DSi XL

Nintendo of America president, Reggie Fils-Aime, has explained the reasoning behind Nintendo’s decision to release a larger version of the popular DSi hand-held gaming console.

Its purpose isn’t just to make things bigger for the player, but to attract observers, as well. With an improved view angle, it begins to mimic the extended appeal of Wii. As more people watch the action, more want to get involved and in the process, new players are born.

  2. What they NEEDED to do, was make the controls bigger. Seriously, I’ve got small hands and all, but I swear it only a 5 year old can play a DS comfortably.

Just for comparison, as much as people love to bash the Atari Jaguar controller, it’s quite comfortable and the button layout is decent. Nintendo had the perfect controller with the Super Nintendo, so perfect that Sony outright copied it to make an even better setup, so they should have went with that sized setup, or at least something close to it for a portable.

Maybe one day we’ll see portable systems with MODULAR controls, which can be attached and detached separately, according to how the user wants.

  3. What I want to know is why they’re selling it for €220 that’s €60 more than the dsi!there’s an economy crises THINK pepole it’s better off buying the dsi or even the ds if your just into gameing.

  4. I’m scared to get a DS because Nintendo will probably come out with a better one as soon as I buy it. I do like the bigger screen though but the graphics kinda look like PS1 games. If I can get one for reasonable price then maybe.
