Nintendo Wii: Top Five 2009 Nintendo Wii Games For Christmas

Shui Ta, a write for the Examiner, has compiled what he deems to be the essential games for the Nintendo Wii this Christmas. This comprehensive list clearly states some gems which are likely to be overlooked by the majority of consumers, so do yourself a favour and make sure you check them out.

5. Muramasa: The Demon Blade
Muramasa: The Demon Blade shows that 2D games can still be relevant even though gaming has evolved. For one, this action-RPG is among the most visually impressive games on the Nintendo Wii. Not to mention that it also features fast-paced action with multiple play styles. If you are looking for a game filled with fresh ideas, than you won’t find a better alternative than Muramasa: The Demon Blade.

4. Dead Space Extraction
The original Dead Space was one of the best sleeper hits of 2008. In 2009, the series took its space horror experience to the Nintendo Wii with Dead Space Extraction. The on-rails shooter is one of the best-looking games on the system with visuals rivaling the first game. This must-have game also includes robust content with plenty of extras to weave through once you finished the main story.

3. Punch-Out!!
Nintendo decided to revive their boxing series, Punch-Out!!, for a new generation of gamers on the Nintendo Wii. While the graphics were improved significantly since the last game, the classic timing and pattern based gameplay still remains intact. With multiplayer support to boot, Punch-Out!! should appease both returning and newcomers to the classic series.

2. Metroid Prime Trilogy
Metroid Prime and Metroid Prime 2: Echoes are two of the best games on the Nintendo Gamecube. You can now experience these classics on the Nintendo Wii with enhanced visuals, added motion controls and new extras. Moreover, you will also get Metroid Prime 3: Corruption in Metroid Prime Trilogy. For just $49.99, this must-have package is an absolute bargain.

1. New Super Mario Bros. Wii
The Super Mario Bros. platforming series contains some of the most recognizable titles in the industry. New Super Mario Bros. Wii marks the return of the classic formula on home consoles. New and old fans will be pleasantly surprised in just about every level in the game with the most advanced and diverse 2D Mario to date. Moreover, the Nintendo Wii exclusive game also features simultaneous four-player support, making it a great party game. You won’t find a better must-have title released in 2009 this holiday season than New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

  1. Great List. I have not played all of those games so I had better get on it. The list I came up with on my review site was based on sales volumes.

    1. New Super Mario Bros – $52.01
    2. Wii Sports Resort – $53.35
    3. Wii Fit Plus – $26.20
    4. Mario Kart with Wheel – $54.85

I through the price in there for good measure. Check out the full review and post below.
