Larry Benjamin, vice-president of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, recently had the chance to test out Nintendo’s forthcoming 3DS console and after playing Super Street Fighter IV 3D said:
“It’s remarkable 3D, but it’s fairly dependent on your position. If you’re just five degrees off, it doesn’t quite work, which is tiring for the eyes… you continually have to readjust to 3D vision and that’s making me feel a bit queasy. I think it’s fair to warn people they may experience eye strain, double vision or difficulty focusing. I think it’d be sensible to do longer-term trials on it.”

Oh boy! I sure hope the results of those longer-term tests won’t tarn the 3DS’ reputation for the same reason the Virtual Boy went under. (o_o;)
It says longer term trails in the title, yet longer term trials in the article.
Just thought you should know. :)
That’s what happens when you’re in a rush. Thanks for pointing that out : )
The only difference between the Virtual Boy and the 3DS is that it’s got the 3D slider and you can turn it off if your eyes get tired. This study’s not gonna hurt sales of the 3DS. That’s the laymen’s terms of what ‘ he said.
And for a while I thought they had 3D perfect.
Nothing is ever perfect
Wow, talk about a disappointment. I have to twist and turn and lock my head just to view 3D? No thanks. Think I’ll just turn that crap off.
I had a chance to play with a Japanese 3DS at a local electronics store. (It’s great living in Japan if you’re a Nintendo fan, hehe.) This Benjamin guy is totally right, you have to be looking at the screen at a pretty precise angle in order for the 3D to take effect. I also got eye strain within about ten minutes of playing (I played Layton and Ridge Racer, btw). It’s true that I wear glasses and thus don’t have the best vision, but my boyfriend, who doesn’t wear glasses and has 20/20 vision, played the same games, had the same problem of making the 3D show up, and also had a little trouble adjusting his eyes afterwards. We’ve decided we’re probably going to buy 3DS’es for ourselves in the future, but we’re likely never going to turn on the 3D functionality.
I’ve played 3Ds and I didn’t experience any problems. Speaking to those who did have problems they didn’t bother changing the slider. I did it throught the game play and it was fine on my eyes.
Also remember the first time you played a gameboy and it hurt your eyes? Exactly.
To be fairly Honest, I don’t care much for the 3D. I’m pretty sure no one won’t care much for the 3D effect. I think gamers just want to play the games so in my opinion, its best for Nintendo to just kill the 3d tech because its never going to catch on.
I wouldn’t say Resuke is “sooooooooooooo…” wrong. Most people are most likely flocking to 3DS due to the 3D aspect of it, but gamers most want gameplay. It’s like…not every game HAS to be in 3D or played in 3D. I’ve always seen the 3D portion as large bells and whistles. Pretty much the selling point, but the main thing with me is more flexibility with Friend Codes (FCs should’ve been killed off by now, but two steps forward one step back).
…it’s kind of like playing a game with mind blowing graphics that sucks where it truly matters. Some players might force themselves to like the game (I couldn’t do it Unlimited Saga despite the potential it had and how nice it looked), but deep down they know the game sucks. It’s mainly what you prefer: flash, finesse, or a balance.
ResukeZero ur wrong soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo wrong about that the 3D is the best part about the 3DS the 3D is definitly going to catch on mainly because it’s the first handheld to push such graphics and 3D. If you don’t care that much for it that’s fine but most of us really wanna see the 3D
Your right maybe I’m wrong. Maybe Nintendo is on to something but what I’m saying “in my opinion” is that its the game that are important. I would prefer game play over 3D
But the 3D is awesome though.

sigh this might ruin nintendo… but we have only a few more days before it comes out in japan so i hope we get some accurate and unbiased reviews about the system…
Well remember, the 3D is optional which mean you don’t have to play in 3D. I’d Pre-Order mine and when I obtain mine, I may never use the 3D setting. I’m just want it for the games and add-ons.
Plus besides the 3D, it gang some good reviews about the control of the circle-pad and the motion of the games to.
