January’s NPD sales figures have shown that Nintendo Wii sales are down by 31.5 percent from the same time last year.
Whilst these sale figures show a fairly dramatic drop in units sold Nintendo is still leading the console war with an astounding 34.5 million Wii consoles sold in the United States alone. Microsoft’s Xbox 360 comes in second place with 25.8 million consoles sold, whilst Sony comes in third with 15.7 million PlayStation 3 consoles sold.

Not too bad I guess…
well what do you expect???
their new console (3ds) is already topping the pre order sales of the wii and who knows? It might even be a bigger success. Besides, this always happens when a new console is about to come out.
That doesn’t surprise me, there was nothing new and fresh in Jan.
almost everybody has a Wii right?
Saturation point reached.
i bet that loser michael pachter is gonna make up some bullcrap about this.
The problem is that everyone already has a Wii. =P
Nintendo, it’s time to let go of the Wii. Everyone already has one. No one will buy one since we all know it’s going to be replaced withing the next year or two.
Meh! Who cares, especially with the 3DS and PSP 2 around the corner?
Wii 2 will be released Winter 2012.
It’s not like people are gonna buy 2 Wii’s …. and it’s been like 5 years…besides kids wanna buy the nintendo 3DS
The problem is there is a major Wii software drought!
Good pawn shops are only giving 40 bucks for them now.
nintendo will either give it one more chance with the release of zelda skyward sword or just make it for a new generation console forcing us to buy that as well.
i sure hope a new console is announced at E3, would be interesting if they decide to go HD while also adding 3D, i pretty much see this as Nintendo’s last chance to appeal to hardcore games and 3rd party developers, and yes Patcher will be all over this we all know it :P
Nintendo have already said that they won’t make a 3D homeconsole until 3D TVs become common in every house, and that they won’t make a new homeconsole until the Wii reaches a certain sales figure (which I can’t remember right now but I think it was 40-50 million). No word about HD though.
Besides why would they announce a new console the year they released their latest?
Nintendo is always one step ahead;D
