Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot told investors today that he is extremely confident about Nintendo’s hardware strategy. Guillemot firmly believes that Wii U will finally be the console to bridge the gap between the hardcore gamer and the causal gamer. Guillemot also told investors that he believes sales for the Wii and the Nintendo 3DS will be extremely strong this holiday season.
“[The Wii U controller is] really a huge improvement over what can be done in the console business today.”
“We must not forget that Nintendo has been the biggest seller this generation, and has a huge number of customers that appreciate the brands that are created on the Wii and will be interested to go to the next generation.”
“[Nintendo will] do what’s necessary to launch [the Wii U] in a huge way.”
“There were not many high profile games launched with the [3DS], but we think there will be lots launched before the end of the year, so it will continue to grow,” he said. “If you remember, the DS launch didn’t go very smoothly, so we have to look at [the 3DS] in the longer term than we do now. Potentially it could become a great machine.”
[Nintendo] already decreased the price, and we know Nintendo will make sure to perform this Christmas, so we expect the Wii will be strong this year, especially on casual products.”

Okay Ubisoft we know you like the Wii U, you can calm down now
Yeah seriously. I think we’ve heard enough from Ubisoft by now.
As I’ve said, the quality of the games will decide if the gap is truely bridged in a manner of speaking.
i agree with them though
Then they go on to make Horsez, Dogz, Catz, and ports.
Seriously…Ubisoft make crap developers. The only thing coming from them that I am even remotely interested in is Rocksmith, and even then, I don’t have my hopes up high for that to be any good either. I mean, Ubisoft sure as Hell isn’t Harmonix. What do they know about making guitar games? :/
I don’t know. I’m really looking forward to Rayman Origins, Beyond Good and Evil 2 and the next Assassins Creed. They do produce some quality titles.
Well, if the Wii U has the popular titles from other consoles, like Call of Duty and Battlefield, then “hardcore” gamers will consider buying it over the PS3 or Xbox. Then Nintendo will also have their first party stuff for everyone else.
The Wii actually did have the most recent Call of Duty IIRC
Ubisoft is Nintendos bitch
yea a bitch that wont give the good games, just the shitty ones,
Even though he’s extremely crazy about Nintendo, What he says is true. I would rather him say than the other developers that can’t see the potential yet
Technically Microsoft is doing that now with connect, but Nintendo has the potential to do much better. What I hope is that Wii U inherits the casual audience and attracts a new hardcore audience. The important thing is that there’s not so much shovelware
Kinect* stupid auto correct =_=
I’ve never brought a Ubi game and I never will.

Red Steel 3 anyone? Sucks that I’m the only one that appreciates that series.
Im with you, but the first one sucked.
Red Steel 3 would be cool with me. I liked RS2 very much.
Yeah I agree that RS2 was way better than the first. The first had multi-player however which was fun for a while. What I’d like to see in a RS3 is on and off-line multi-player, a direct follow up to the mysterious ending of RS2, and HD cel-shade graphics. Oh and keep the open use of the sword from RS2 as well.
We can only hope what he says turns out to be true. He’s right on the points made about the 3DS. I wanna see what they do with the Assassin’s creed game they release for the Wii U.
Nintendo should just buy Ubisoft :P
Not a bad idea, but I don’t think Ubisoft’s for sale.
