      1. Don’t be too sad; I’d bet anything they’re getting it ready for Wii U. They said they didn’t bring it to Wii because they wanted it to be an HD experience, so a Wii U version would be a no-brainer.

        1. it isn’t going on wii u, if they release it next year, its gonna be a year after the 20th anniversary

        1. They even have an already well-designed engine with Colours. All they would probably have to do is modify it.

On the upside, at least the 3DS version makes it portable, a feature the other versions definitely DON’T have.

  1. why can’t it be like the console versions where you have 3d and 2d levels? I know this is a hand held but this is a 3ds not a ds

    1. It’s generations, a revamp of the old sonic the hedgehog on the sega system. That music was the old classic music on those games.

  2. Played the demo on my ps3 and my god. Game is amazing. Must of played green hills zone 1 nearly 100 times. That’s a good reason to have a 3DS.

  3. Wow, this game actually looks better than the console versions in my opinion. I’ll be getting the PS3 version, but I’ll get this one for my son – Looks like he’s getting the best deal to me!

  4. Side scrolling Sonic games are fun to play and I like them…but you don’t really realize how boring they are until you watch a video of someone else playing. Seriously…all he did was hold right on the circle pad…

  5. This looks amazing being that its different from the console but i understand since its a portable version. I will be picking this up too.

  6. Looks like complete garbage. The levels lack detail, the game play looks dull as all get out… I’ll be passing this one up for the XBox360 version.

    1. I think your eyes are broken or you’re staring at an actual pile of garbage. The levels have the same detail as the console versions, but at a lower resolution.
The gameplay is the same as the XBox360 version will be.

      1. 3DS Sonic Generations is a 2D side-scroller with the camera tilted at an angle. There is no landscape, just a floating land mass for sonic to run on. Watch a trailer for the console versions and the differences will be apparent. The least they could have done is added more than a few trees to the background.

The game looks boring. I have a 3DS and love it, but I’m not so desperate for software that I’d lie to myself about the 3DS version of Sonic Generations. to each their own I suppose, but it looks pretty awful to me.

  8. This looks like Sonic Rush to me.
2D sonic in the console games is meant to behave like Sonic 2 Sonic, that is no Homing attack and no hold Y to boost and win button.

I played the demo on the ps3 and it was pretty close to mega drive physics. This is not even close. Why are they calling it sonic generations if he is going to handle differently in this game?

    1. This is the Modern Sonic stages. Sadly, Sega decided that it’d be better if the 3DS Modern Sonic stages more represented Rush. You can tell this is a Modern Sonic stage by the fact the you hear him speak a couple of times.

  9. Okay I’m not sure if this is already said but I do believe this is the Modern Sonic stage. You may call me stupid because it’s sidescrolling but I have to reasons for this belief.
1: You’ll hear him say somethings and Classic Sonic isn’t supposed to talk.
2: I read an NP article that said the 3DS Modern Sonic stages were supposed to represent Sonic Rush/ Sonic Colors DS stages and gameplay.
I found reason 2 to be a backwards way of thinking. I mean, don’t the modern sinc console stages’ format seem like a no brainer for a 3DS game? Everything zooming into your face and all? :/

    1. oh wow, dont see why someone would by it. the grafics suck, the fact you cant play so u can walk around in it sucks, and the fact its so much worst than on ps3/xbox (i dont have either) sucks! think im done with nintendo and all their crap
