Fans will have been pleased to learn that the game was headed to the Nintendo Switch 2 as the original game’s performance on the Nintendo Switch did leave a little to be desired. It’s been revealed that via the Nintendo Store UK that Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity – Definitive Edition will be a Game-Key Card release, which will disappoint some of you.

Wait are you sure? It’s 10$ more dollars on Amazon in the US, that should mean it’s physical.
To be honest, that’s is pretty awful if this is true. But at the same time, it’s pretty much a bundle of the game and the dlc with a performance boost, you can already get a discount if you own the original game digital or physically.
I feel like most people were already going to get this digitally with that discount.
But yeah, I do kind of hate this.

Yeah I just checked, it’s 60$ on the eshop and 70$ on Amazon. I don’t know why they would charge 10$ for a game key card game.
I don’t think this is true, I just checked the US Nintendo store site and they have different prices for the game between digital and the physical.
Pokopia and now Hyrule warriors. I’m sick of this and all of you supporting Fake-Key Cards and Only Digital are destroying the last of not just physical Media but when things are no longer physical or usable without the Internet, you’ll all see how monsterous these companies can be. Ofcourse they have been conditioning all of you and younger generations two decades now. Developer’s are going to keep using Key-cards and Digital only if you keep buying whatever they throw at you. Why are you freaking out over a game most people are not going to buy anyway? Don’t understand the shit at Gamefreak either, has nothing to do with them and if you are trying to link to Pokopia then you are mistaken, probably due to frothing at the mouth and not thinking straight. The only link is Koei Tecmo who clearly have full publishing rights to choose the way they want to sell these games, so be mad at them if you have to be. I prefer Physical games….. mostly but I also want to play them and a lot of videogame companies, contrary to what your narrow minded viewpoint might see, are actually struggling to make any sort of profit. So if game key card or digital only is the most viable way to distribute then it’s ok but those that can should be providing a full physical option. Attacking people for buying what is available is just nonsense. If you really believe that not buying any digital games is going to turn everything around to physical then you’re deluded. Grow up and be sensible about it instead of whining at people because things are changing and you don’t like it. Maybe do something constructive about it if you’re really that upset.
There wre many examples of companies turning around and making positive changes and doing better when products arent selling. They are refusing to release true physical media out of greed ajd nothing else and with Pokemon I’m pretty sure they meant how you all keep buying Game Freak’s Garbage. Both Pokopia and Hyrule Warriors are not published by Nintendo in Japan, so the decision on how to distribute them does not fall onto Nintendo. Yes, they are published by NOA/NOE in other regions of the world but their job isn’t to make that call, it’s to import games from Japan and put them onto store shelves. This isn’t a defense of GKCs, but Pokopia and Hyrule Warriors being GKC isn’t any more shocking than any other third party game being GKC
Sorry for the amount of comments, but I just checked the site for a game key card game and hyrule warriors. I checked pokopia and it has information that it is a gamekey card in the description, but hyrule warriors doesn’t.

It’s clearly because this is a Koei Tecmo developed game and must be part of the licensing deal that Nintendo made with them that they can do what they like in terms of the publishing. Was like this for Pokopia and now this which confirms it. Koei Tecmo are doing everything they can to get every penny which is sad to see. It also explains why this is a standalone title and not just a free update, which I imagine it would have been if it was a fully Nintendo developed title as there is very little here to justify buying again, at the very least it would have been a cheap 4.99 Switch 2 Edition upgrade. I already had my enjoyment with the game when it came out 6 years ago so I’m good anyway.

To be fair to Koei Tecmo, they aren’t a AAA studio that can afford the Switch 2 cartridges but it is annoying that they didn’t even try with Pokopia.

It’s my absolute favourite Warriors game by far, the only thing I really disliked about it was it’s awful performance on Switch 1, which is finally fixed here!

Ok, I just did some research and I think I have a theory. The UK has had some recent laws regarding physical products. This game is the same price for physical and digital in the UK. BUT, the physical price in the US is higher, meaning that it should be fully physical regarding nintendo’s announcement back in march about the new pricing structure.
So this game is going to be a game-key card in europe due to the new laws but physical over here.
I hope I am wrong, I feel so bad for those who live in europe if this is true.
I also don’t see any information on both pages for the US regarding game key card downloading, so we will see.
