No, it wasn’t the brilliant Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword that was the best-selling game of 2011 on Wii it was actually Zumba Fitness that successfully beat off all competition. Other games in the Wii top five include Wii Sports Resort and Mario Kart Wii but the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword was noticeably absent.
The Best Selling Wii Games in 2011
1. Zumba Fitness
2. Just Dance 3
3. Just Dance 2
4. Mario Kart Wii
5. Wii Sports Resort
Guess it shows they have a different culture than others, where they care about their health.
It shows that there are more casual gamers in UK
It shows UK hates zelda. What a bunch of jokers ;/
Now you are talking about Xenoblade Cronicles. :D
Hey, I love Zelda and I live in the UK. Then again out of my whole school, only 4 or 5 people own Skyward Sword, the rest are XBox or PS3 people…
No, it came out at the end of the year. Although, most people in the UK are CoD fanboys, so the only things that sell in the masses are family and party games, because no other company can provide that.
Only one actual good game? This makes me a sad panda… =[
Gamerharassment panda?
im shocked it is not skyward sword .
wow… just wow…
Casual gamers.
In Zelda defence, it was only out for less than two months.
THANKYOU!
In zumbas defense, my fat cousins, grandma and aunties own a wii just for the game, and i asure you, they arent the only ones.
I can assure you that that has got nothing to do with this discussin.
I guess it’s good America really wants to use gaming for working out. Any case, Skyward still a great game and best game this year.
This is UK sales.
You actually thought america wants to use gaming for working out?
Well, you did say “I guess it’s good America really wants to use gaming for working out.”
… your point is invalid.
It’s a different person..just like I’m a different person
I’m from UK and I do not agree with this list. Skyward Sword should be number 1. :o
You can’t disagree with the list. They’re statistics.
+1
Zelda SS came out too late in the year to be best selling, maybe?
not even that, SS disappeared from the top 10 U.K sales charts in it’s second week.
Sports resort is bundled with the damn wii, how the fuck does anything more than that?
To be fair, Skyward Sword was only out a month and a bit, so reaching best seller in the UK would have been hard.
And the fact that you say, Casual Gamers like all of the UK is a casual gamer is egregious. When the US best seller comes out, it’ll be the same trend, because casual gamers have taken over the market.
It came out late last year, and we eere shun, it was basically the same list though, but we had just dance 3 up there.
Even if it was only out for a little while, Skyward should have at least made the top 5.
Ha. Wow way to go nintendo
makes sense. Nintendo marketed the wii towards non-gamer girls and old people. Mario kart is on the list because it hit the children demgraphic.
Skyward Sword hasn’t been out long enough to sell a lot.
And the top JRPG The Last Story should not UK exclusive.
And then, “Hardcore” gamers complain that Nintendo hesitates to release games like Xenoblade, The Last Story, and Pandora’s Tower on the West…
And this, ladies and gentleman, is why no one respects Nintendo as hardcore. Well the fanboys think they’re hardcore gamers, but I digress.
^ Ironic since that is a anti-Nintendo fanboy statement
its his opinion you kno, and hes not wrong either.
by your defensive comment does that make you Cpt.SaveAhoe? or nintendo troll? nintendo sack holder? wii Fanboy? Reggies Lover?
of course not (or maybe what do i know)
Someone forgot to fax you the page on humor and wit back in the 90s
Damn, I was sure that Xenoblade was going to be there.
It would be nice if people stopped generalising about the UK, I’m from the UK and I LOVE Zelda, I’m not a COD fanboy, I don’t own a ps3 or xbox360 and I only own 2 of the 5 games mentioned which are Mario Kart Wii and Wii Sports Resort, and no, I’m not a casual gamer.
I do understand that people may think the UK is more casual gamer based because of this list of top 5 selling games, and that may be true, but it doesn’t mean there aren’t serious gamers too.
Video games to work out? That’s expensive. Better off buying something like P90X, better value IMO. Don’t be too surprised either, I’m pretty sure Just Dance 2 or 3 is the best selling Wii game in America from 2011.
Mario Kart Wii was in most bundles, and got most advertisement to casuals around Christmas, explaining why it’s still in the charts.
Also, Zelda only came out at the end of the year, and I never expected it to be a top selling game initially. It’ll be a slow-burner probably.
This casual versus hardcore stuff really grinds my gears. I LOVE Wii Sports Resort!
A game is a game is a game. Who cares? I play all sorts of games so long as they are good.
But we know that Zelda isn’t the best selling franchise that Nintendo has, Zelda has never sold a huge number of copies, they’re amazing games, but this game is for an specific audience
It came out 5 weeks to the end of the year. And it is the fastest selling Zelda of all time so I see no problems with its sales.
UK is wrong.
I’m from england and i live there.
I agree British Wii Owners are wrong and that their culture of Media sucks. No offence to Britain coming from a British. :P
I’m actually more surprised that Just Dance 3 isn’t number 1, to be honest. Skyward Sword is an incredible game, these statistics do nothing to refute that, but if you have to factor in the “non-hardcore” market then it makes sense that a more vastly appealing game would sell better. Then there’s the fact that Just Dance, 3 especially, is only casual in name; as far as music games go it has got quite a good amount of features and as much depth as, say, Mario Kart Wii. Just because it involves ZOMGMOVINGYOURBODY doesn’t make it any less worthwhile than Zelda. As long as a game is fun, that’s what matters most.
I’ll imagine that Zumba’s popularity and high advertisement around the UK aided in it topping the charts here, though I am still surprised that it beat Just Dance 3.
wow the only good game on there is mario kart.. .i’m heartbroken to see no zelda
“successfully beat off all competition”
you said ‘beat off’
