Fancy Getting Ten Hours Out Of Your Nintendo 3DS? Check Out This Battery

Japan Trust Technology has released a battery today which gives you a whopping ten hours of battery life out of your Nintendo 3DS console. The downside to the device is the fact that it makes your Nintendo 3DS look exceptionally chunky, but it could be a good trade-off for 4.4 times the system’s standard battery life.

    1. You probably can’t. It’s a shame that someone couldn’t create a “Circle Pad Plus” or something which included the extra buttons as well as a bigger battery.

I’m hoping that any eventual “3DS Advance” or whatever they end up calling it will included both of these features in its design.

    2. This ^^
I had the Nyko Power Pak +, and that’s exactly what I thought when they announced the Circle Pad Pro. Best first comment I’ve seen in a while xD

      1. Agreed, instead of people saying “First” like its some achievement that people care about, he posted something worth saying, good on you man ^_^. Nintendo always do this and you can imagine the 3DSLite Advance which will have 2 analog sticks and a longer battery life while looking slimer will probably be on the works now.

        1. I’m really not concerned with the 3ds lite, or the circle pad pro for that matter. The RE demo works great without it and I’m not left handed so no need for kid icarus. And really, using the control pad is extremely uncomfortable on the current 3DS so a smaller console with a mandatory circle pad in the opposite awkward position doesn’t tickle my fancy. If a second circle pad becomes necessary i’ll get a pro.

          1. I am lucky enough to come back from a trip to Japan for these past Holidays, and I took the opportunity to buy a Circle Pad Pro. So I could try it with the RE Demo, and man, seriously…. don’t miss the experience of playing RE with it, it’s much more accurate, feels much more natural and much more comfortable!

            1. Thanks Francki was actually wondering if I should buy resident evil or not because I wanted to see how it wud work with the circle pad. But now that u tell me its good then I gta buy it now Lol

    1. i would agree with that but it is a lot harder than it appears… i would probably cost more money as well… i think we just have to wait until companies start using that better technology that allows for more charge per surface area

      1. Yeah, and that new technology that allows developers to change the battery’s shape to everything is interesting. It allows them to spread the battery through a whole device, for example like a jet fighter does with fuel in its wings.

        1. Actually I think it would be possible, but they’ve decided not to. It’s not the kind of thing I can see them doing… I doubt the current battery life is the maximum possible at that size, I think the reason it’s so low is because they wanted to keep the cost down to make it more affordable

  1. I think the bulkiness is a good tradeoff for me personally. I’m one of those who actually gets cramped playing Mario Kart 7 because the 3DS is too thin for me… and I have a pretty small hand. Wonder if my small hand is actually the issue.

      1. I would prefer unscrewed. It seems odd to have two separate batteries doing the work, and with charging…may just fuck up the one supplied with unit. Can’t see it happening, but at some point, it will be done…and will be a lot smaller and cheaper, if not just a better battery replacement at a decent price!

    1. If they released a 3DS Lite this early then current 3DS owners would get upset and considering the 3DS’s current market, they;re being cautions in releasing a new system into the market; that’s why they’re waiting a bit but I’m projecting a holiday 2012 release or sometime in 2013.

  2. I don’t think the 3DS would be “chunky” with it. I mean, it’s pretty small and thin already, so it wouldn’t be that bad after all.
I like it and I hope we’ll get something like that in Europe as well (:

      1. Yeah, it does. I guess I put it kinda wrong. I meant that the 3DS is pretty thin, so even if the pack doubles the width it wouldn’t be that bad. (:

  3. When do I ever go out and play my 3DS for 4 hours let alone 10 hours. In fact, I usually play my DS/GBA/NES games which get me up to 8 hours! And I don’t know where the person who wrote this is getting that it gives 4.4 times the battery life; it’s actually 3.3 times if the system is max 3D/Brightness/etc and I don’t even know if this new battery does 10 hours on max. You just never know, and this looks like a junker anyway.

  4. This is slightly off topic but I heard a rumor via the radio that sundew company has developed battery packs ( for phones ) that have the pitential to last from one days to a week. Can you imagine that in a 3ds. Give it a few years, im sure it will become reality.

  5. Its nice and all but I really like my blue aluminum case on my 3DS so no thanks. Closest thing I got to having a dark blue 3DS lol.

  6. I have a question for all of you who use the Nyko Power Pak+. Browsing Amazon, I found the one that comes with a charging base and a craddle. Does anyone know if that one includes the Power Pak+ as well?

  7. u can buy longer life batteries for the 3ds that (i think) dont add bulk, simply take out the old battery and put the better one in.

  8. @Stratogabo, yeah it comes with the battery. I bought that package when it came out. the dock lights up and it looks cool in the dark. when charging with the dock, it doesn’t completely charge the battery fully. I ended up stopping using the dock and just plug in the 3ds ac adapter instead

  9. Actually, the downside with the battery is that since the battery cover is so big that it cannot hold the Circle Pad Pro onto the system with the cover on the way.

  10. Honestly this looks great! I currently have the Nyko power pak+ I did however just get it 2 weeks ago an its been a great help when whooping ass on ssf43d. fyi Iam posting this comment on my 3ds internet browser. This new battery will surely come in handy especially when Iam on the chatroom with my friends late at night ,and when at after school sessions basically anything that lasts long even when Iam having fun on my 3ds for a short while but then that red blinking light shows up an I have to rush an get my charger. My 3ds friend code is Emmanuel 4983-4935-9974. Wanna trade an fight on ssf43d or mk7? Sonic generations?
