Nintendo of America has issued a press statement to say that for the third consecutive time this year, Nintendo has prevailed in a patent litigation in the U.S. A Maryland U.S. District Court judge has summarily dismissed a patent infringement lawsuit against Nintendo brought by IA Labs. IA Labs had alleged that the Wii Balance Board accessory and Wii Fit and Wii Fit Plus software infringed on one of its patents.

Please calm down and do your research. Patent troll is a word that has been around for quite a long time. It’s not a new term. At all. Even the most reputable publications use the word.

“patent trolls” haha that pretty much sums it up. Ever since the Wii and DS got so popular, Nintendo has been fighting all of those companies claiming royalties and stuff from those systems. There would be credibility if to some of them if they were scarce, but there have been a lot of them trying to get a small piece of it, and some of them are just dumb (Like the patent that got filed in 2009 or 2010 and then Nintendo got sued later on even though the Wii had been out for a good 3 years already).
