Capcom’s SVP of planning and business development Christian Svensson recently took the time out to speak to Game Informer about a number of Capcom related issues. Svensson tried his best to address the infamous Resident Evil Revelations spelling mistake, and also spoke about the possibility of bringing Ace Attorney Investigations 2 to the West.
So Capcom has had some spelling errors pop up recently. Of course everyone remembers the Resident Evil: Revelations typo. Then there was an error on the Asura’s Wrath promotional box. Capcom also misspelled the name of the company in the Steel Battalion trailer. What’s going on here? How does this keep happening?
For Resident Evil: Revelations, I can’t even tell you how many people looked at that package and approved it. Nintendo of America, Nintendo Japan, ESRB, I don’t know how many people internally, and our guys in Japan. I can’t come up with an excuse for it. It just happened. We’re not happy about it.
There are new processes that were put in place that involve people outside the company. We’ve redefined who has final say over packaging. I’m cautiously optimistic we won’t be seeing this happen again. It’s embarrassing. I can’t really sugarcoat it.
There are only about 90,000 units that have the misprint. If you’ve got it and it’s shrink-wrapped, that’s a new special edition, that’s our new strategy. [laughs]
Should we assume we’re not getting Ace Attorney Investigations 2 here in the U.S.?
It is still an open discussion point. I’ll never say never, but I also won’t say it’s going to happen. I haven’t let go of that bone, and I hope the fans are still patient with us.

Wow.
Capcom is falling to illiterates…
Not really supprised…
A typical error by Cacpom.
CACPCOM*
the fasn are actually working on a complete translation of Ace Attorney Investigations 2, so yeah the fans already gave up on this one capcom
The fans started working on a translation April 2011, immediately after it was initially announced that it wouldn’t be localized. Not because they gave up.
fucking capcom better gimme my DLC for street fighter x tekken before any goddamn ace attorney 2
:objection: Screw you man, Phoenix Wright and Miles Edgeworth pwnds Ryu and the other guys of Tekken. Take That
Are you aware that it isn’t really a DLC?
All the DLC characters are on the disk already, but Capcom makes you pay extra for no reason.
get raped bitch who cares about stupid fighting games get a better taste
GIVE ME ACE ATTORNEY INVESTIGATIONS 2 CAPCOM!!!!
SPECIAL EDITION! RESIDENT EVIL REVELAITIONS! ALRIGHT CAPCPOM!
I want Investigations 2 =s
I’m fucking glad he fucking admitted to his fucking mistakes god fucking damn it.
Leave fuck to heaven.
“Leave fuck to heaven”
I see what you did there.
LOL.
*Approve
I should have got ‘Reveliations’ at launch!
I would have the mispelt one… was it NA only?
I bet i missed it now however.
I got mine about 2 weeks after release and it had the mistake. That being said, no one shops at my dumpy EB games. ONLY 90.000?!!1 why did i open it :(
How about we talk about bring some of capcom’s games over the west.
I LOVE the ace attorney series, but investigations sucked whale dick.
Investigations 2 is supposed to be infinitely better, though.
I am always willing to give it a chance. It has Shelly DeKiller in it anyways. So yeah.
Really? I didn’t think anything was horribly wrong with it, heck, I liked it better than JFA.
JFA is the best in the whole series.
My main issues with Investigations were
-that the characters didnt feel like themselves– Gumshoe was more annoying and dumb than usual. I hated him in this game and he is one of my favorite characters.
-They were sort of grasping at a story– In every regular AA game, months would pass between turnabout and all the turnabouts seemed completely unrelated until the very last one, where it tied it all together. Investigations mostly takes place over 4 days and one flashback. All happen consecutively. And every turnabout was obviously connected.
-The last battle dragged on. I think my annoyances with the rest of the game just made this one feel worse than it probably is, because Phoenix tries to extend his trials, but Miles almost gets the guy like, 5 kazillion times and it still dragged on.
So yeah.
tl;dr: Gumshoe is annoying
“I hope the fans are still patient with us.”
That ship sailed a long time ago, pal.
I was a diehard Capcom fanboy up until last year, at which point I was pushed to the opposite end of the spectrum by horrible corporate decisions. You want patience? First you need me to give you a chance.
Ace Attorney Investigations 2 would be a good first step… but not enough for me to give you guys any money. Not yet. You’ve still got a lot of work to do before that fence is mended.
You’re not still upset about how Capcom’s treating Mega Man these days. Let me tell you, you wouldn’t be complaining if Mega Man was added in MVC3 despite the cancellation of Legends 3, which the series was criticized by old-school fans that it didn’t feel like a true Mega Man game like the classic and X series. It was even listed on Screwattack’s Top 10 worst 2D to 3D games.
>Screwattack
From this, your whole comment is completely invalid.
I don’t think it’s that bad. It’s more funny to me than anything. Plus, like he said, it’s a special edition!
Gimme Investigations 2!
Oh my, if they bring ace attorney inv 2 i’ll be the happiest person ever.
INVESTIGATIONS 2! Please bring it over here!
Give us Ace Attorney 2, Monster Hunter 4, Mega Man Legends 3, Resident Evil 6 on Wii U, and Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright and all will be forgiven. :D
The copies with the typos will be rare and super expensive. Keep them sealed!
First two groups he blames for approving RE:R, Nintendo of America and Nintendo Japan. Coincidence?
He didn’t blame anyone, he simply listed many of the people who’ve looked at it and didn’t notice anything.
Way to completely misinterpret what he was saying.
You should work for a news company.
I was being sarcastic.
I’ve got a special edition >:)
Too bad I opened it; at least it’s a great game and worthy of breaking the seal.
I’m pining so much for Ace Investigations 2. As Ron DeLite says…. PLEEAAAAASE LISTEN!!!!
Didn’t Capcom miss-spell Capcom recently too? I have a copy of Unlimited Cruise with Unlimlited written on too lol
And yes. We need Ace Investigations 2 dammit. Maybe if they slowed on releasing so many fighters they could fit it in? Hell even if it’s just in Europe? Americans can import it. Or Viceversa
theys jus fireds mee peturiuss, gyes i was duing there spelings.
