IGN has managed to get hold of a leaked correspondence from a GameStop manager which states that the Wii U will launch in North America on November 18th. You may remember that a leaked internal email from a large Japanese retailer had the launch penned for November 18th but the source for that was disputed by Kotaku. We should hear an official launch date for Wii U at this years E3 event in June.

Actually Nintendo is gonna drop the A-Bomb on the Wii U at E3… the waves will be felt around the world when they reveal their games with much better graphics.

Dude, that’s like over 60 years ago. At this point, Japan has been dropping metaphysical A-bombs in their anime for the last four decades or so. Political correctness fail.

So, let me get this straight. Someone at Nintendo is sending emails to GameStop to announce the official release date two months before E3, for a release in November; as if there is not going to be enough time to set up retail distribution and advertisement in the 5 months wafterward. Why does this seem completely illegitimate to me?

I think the majority of these retailers are merely guessing this will be the date since they believe Nintendo will follow their trend with consoles. Then people start taking the dates as real. In reality, this date is most likely gonna be the correct one.
