Animal Crossing 3D ‘Won’t Rely On DLC’

Animal Crossing for the Nintendo 3DS won’t be reliant on downloadable content says Nintendo president Satoru Iwata. Despite the game having the potential of multiple pieces of downloadable content, Iwata says that this won’t be the case. Animal Crossing 3D will obviously have some DLC but the majority of the content will be on the cartridge when you purchase the game later this year.

“We will continue to make efforts to avoid such misunderstandings as, “the next ‘Animal Crossing’ might be a game which relies upon add-on content sales.”

  1. Good deal. I want to get my money’s worth for purchasing the game, and then I want to see it supported with reasonable DLC. Animal Crossing is a franchise that lends itself to this business model. I’m super excited to get my hands on this game!

  2. Of course it’s how it already works on the Wii version! Everything was on the disc, and then they made NEW fun stuff, and push it to you as DLC for FREE. DLC doesn’t have to mean PAID DLC, I think that Animal Crossing will never have the paid-type.

    1. I don’t know, just looking at the way things might work with the new network, it may have some paid DLC, but it’ll most likely be inexpensive and not really affect the game at all.

  3. I love the stuff nintendo gives you for animal crossing. Its never relied on DLC before but I still want lots.

  4. if you think about it, Wild World had DLC back on DS. I still got the Mario flag, fire stick, ? block, arwing, Blue Falcon, etc. I’m guessing the DLC will be stuff like that

    1. You’re not the only one, but these days when games are released their DLCs are often already completed and ready to launch also. Nintendo only confirms that they don’t suck like all those other companies!

    1. Video chat makes no sense for Animal Crossing in general, and while voice chat would be awesome, if they make the Wifi less limiting than the last game I don’t want to hear stupid little kids talk all the time. It’s bad enough in every other game.

  5. Awww,
I really hoped for a lot of DLC Content for this game,
I can imagine in christmas they can release themed items and such,
I really think that DLC would make a great thing to the game.

    It totally suites Animal crossing.

  6. That’s good. I don’t like Animal Crossing, but I also fucking hate DLC with a passion, so it’s to see Nintendo aren’t going overboard with it.
