Iwata: “Wii U Does What Wii Did – Only Better”

During the pre-E3 Nintendo Direct, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata said, “Wii changed the way friends and families interacted in the living room. Wii U does what Wii did – only better. And at the same time, it is something entirely new.” Wii U will be fully backward compatible with Wii games. The Wii U will support the Wii Remote, Nunchuk and Wii Balance Board so players can choose from a variety of control methods that fit their style.

Yeap i sure i really approve on your comment and on this post!!!

      Together Wii U.

  1. Casuals, hardcore, socialites, and franchise. The best of all worlds, thanks to the power of Wii U.

    1. What in the world are you talking about. The only thing in which the WII U will excell is in providing a gaming platform for casual gamers. If you are a ‘hardcore’ gamer you should seriously consider buying a different console.

      1. The Wii U will offer much more than your plain FPS game year after year – yes, it will get them games, but it will also get the exclusives; also, a few developers have already said the Wii U version of their games will be the superior one. Maybe you should think again.

  2. Once again, I’m completely sold on a Nintendo product! I really hope they can make their online service fluid and user friendly.

  3. I hope I can transfer my Wii save files over to the Wiiu. Maybe even my MHTri file if I’m lucky. Also my Mii on my Wii (lol), which took me ages to configure to look as accurate as possible to myself, although I remember hearing something about a feature on the Wiiu, where I photo myself and turn it into a Mii… I wonder if that is true. It’s the little things.

  4. Will there be a way to transfer all the Wii saves that can’t be Stored in an SD to the Wii U? Because I don’t want to start Monster Hunter and Smash Brawl all over again D:

  5. Regardless of what people say, Wii had a good plan. However, it didn’t deliver because far too many casual games came out on it. However, by the looks of it, Wii U is gonna fully deliver Wii’s idea; Wii was never meant to be a system only for casual gamers. It was meant to be for EVERYONE. You gotta love Nintendo for realizing their mistakes. Wii U will solve the problems Wii caused. This time, Nintendo will win both awards (the players and sales.)

    1. One crucial error Nintendo made was delivering the full product 3 years later. When developers overestimated what the wiimote was capable of, they either took the low-risk waggle approach or just didn’t develop for it. Later on more traditional controls were utilized, but it was too late in the console’s life for developers to flock back.

Since it appears Wii U will have just about everything coming out of the gate, Nintendo will hopefully not have the same problem this generation. For that reason, this appears to be the Nintendo home console with the strongest 3rd-party support since the SNES.

I hope that includes the Wii Classic Controller Pro as well. I’m sure it does, but it wasn’t explicitly stated.
