New Super Mario Bros U – What You Need To Know

The Nintendo E3 site has detailed many of the games that were announced today at the Nintendo conference. One of those games was New Super Mario Bros U which is expected to launch alongside Wii U when it launches this holiday season. Here’s some of the details you need to know.

New Super Mario Bros. U is a new, side-scrolling adventure featuring Mario, Luigi, Toad … and your Mii character. Now’s your chance to step inside the Mushroom Kingdom and explore new worlds, new power-ups and new ways to play.

Features:

  • Swoop through levels and cling to walls when Mario transforms into Flying Squirrel Mario, or gently float through the air while hanging onto Tiny Balloon Yoshi.
  • The Wii U GamePad controller offers a new way to play multiplayer in this game. An extra player can jump into the action using the new Boost mode, creating platforms out of thin air to help others navigate tricky stages or access hidden or hard-to-reach items.
  • Boost mode also makes cooperative speed runs possible for the first time. Use the GamePad to interact with and manipulate enemies and objects in real time, allowing for new ways to find the fastest routes through each level.
  • Play on the big screen or the small screen. Switch game play from the TV to the GamePad at any time to continue playing even when others are using the TV.
  • Experience Mario together like never before with Miiverse. See other players’ comments and accomplishments while you play and leave your own feedback for others to see when connected to the Nintendo Network.

  1. 2 upads controllers hooray and i except too many things in the fast future from nintendo AND retro studios.i want an explantion

        1. I was expecting something more…innovative. Idk but Nintendo should step their game up. There are tons of Super Mario Bros games so the gamer would expect something new

          1. Agreed. New Super Mario Bros. Wii was only well recieved because it was one of the only competent platformers at the time. It wasn’t bad, just very very conservative in level design.

Get creative and go wild Nintendo, that’s when you’re at your best anyway!

        2. If you were to play a 2D platformer like mario, and someone had a shitty connection and you got lag from it then it will make the game much to hard and frustrating

  3. GYES I HAVE AN IMPORTANT INFORMATION.THEY SAY THAT WIIU HAVENT TOO MUTCH POWER AS THE PS3 AND XBOX 360 CURRENTLY AND THE GRAPHICS WERE LESS POWERFULL THAN 360.I HOPE NINTENDO WILL IMPROVE THE WIIU.I DONT WANT TO BUY A SECOND WII.I AM NOT TROLLING EVERY1 KNOWS IT.JUST LOOK THE WIIU GAMES,THEY NEED MORE POWER! nintendo must compete

  4. They should put online multiplayer in this. That would really be great. I do not mind playing online, but I do not have friends locally to play with. I really believe they should start putting online in the New Super Mario Bros. series.

  7. Do you NEED the Wii U to play this or can you use the normal Wii remote with nunchucks? Because a Wii U Is pretty expensive for just another Wii add-on. This game looks great and has somewhat a cartoonish style to it.
