Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse exists because Konami loved Evil Empire’s Dead Cells crossover pitch

It was great to hear that the small team at the talented indie studio Evil Empire will be handling the new Castlevania game, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse. The developer wasn’t entirely sure that Konami was even going to get on board with its original idea for Dead Cells DLC.

“I remember saying to myself: ‘It’s too big. They will never say yes,’ according to Motion Twin and Evil Empire COO, Benjamin Laulan. The full-scale Castlevania expansion only happened when the company enquired if they could make a Castlevania-themed skin for Dead Cells. “They said, ‘Let’s do it, and would you also be interested in doing the next Castlevania game?'” as Laulan jokingly puts it. “I’m stoked,” he adds. “Sometimes you’ve just got to ask the question, and you can be surprised by the answer.”

  1. That Dead Cells DLC was the best send-off for the game, and Im glad it landed them the job for the next in a legendary series.

  2. Every time I keep watching the trailers and gameplay for this game the more I get excited for it.
It looks incredible and it actually looks like it’s going to play incredibly well too, I hope it plays amazing and wows like silksong did. Just want that release date now!

  3. Looks awful. It does seem its a female lead and marketing bait and switch. Hopefully Konami is having Virtuos remake Lament Of Innocence that would be something also Bloody Roar 30th anniversary is next year so something for that? Still hoping for a 2003 TMNT collection.
