Not all Wii U games will be able to completely transfer from the TV screen to the Wii U GamePad. When games are able to do so, Nintendo calls the functionality Off-TV Play. Wii U video games that boast this capability will probably have a notification on their game boxes, similar to the Nintendo Network icon.
omg another dissapoint
D: why nintendo why all games should have that noobs D:
because in some games the Gamepad is required for certain things.
Why troll… why are you talking to a mirror?
if this is not availble at all first party games then nintedno is offical bankrupt
lol troll
phr33 m0n3y pl0x
Obvious troll is obvious…
Nintendo has a whole lot of money in the bank. Now matter how many times you fail like a troll you are, they have all the money to invest a new system or accessorty to defines innovation, quality and longevity.
Leave luck to heaven.
You don’t get it, games like ZombiU require the GamePad to do a lot of things for the main mechanics, now how do you think are those mechanics going to work without a 2nd screen?
I kinda want some first party games to lack this feature. Games that support Off-TV Play won’t fully utilize the Wii U GamePad. For example, if a game with gameplay similar to Kid Icarus: Uprising was made for the Wii U, I highly doubt they would include Off-TV Play.
Sounds very innovative… especially when you’re watching a film on Netflix on your Wii U while someone else wants to watch something on regular TV or cable.
They already mentioned that possibility in 2011…
I want that game
Tha’s pretty cool. Not every game will need that function anyway. Maybe some games are too layered to transfer everything to the Upad. Leave luck to heaven.
Leave luck to heaven.
Shhhh
Makes sense. Some games will need two screens to play, others will just have optional convenient content on the smaller screen, which the player can do without.
A lot of Wii U news today. Nice.
i know… cant wait for the wii u
i know right n_n
Ugh, people, it’s up to the devs if they want to include it, that’s most likely the case, I don’t think it’s hardware limitations, because the console can support 2 fricking GamePads.
MyNintendoNews is really doing a horrible job right now, can’t they explain the articles, so that the idiots get it?
Leave luck to heaven.
Yeah, you don’t have to repeat the translation of Nintendo a thousand times, we get it, you are a shitty troll, get over it.
Heaven: leave luck to it.
Dont blame the site, you cant explain things to these idiots.
That’s logical…..
Not a prob with me.
Oh my god i cant freakin wait for this thing. I want it now.
Leave luck to heaven.
Slowly losing faith in both Wii U and Nintendo. What is the sense on having that function when not all the games will use it… IT DEFEATS THE PURPOSE!!
Nintendo, why are you doing this?
Leave luck to heaven.
Your not funny.
Now go home and play some Call of Duty
I thought it was funny.
Shhhh,
Now
lol
Some games, like ZombiU, require the GamePad to do a lot of the core mechanics, how do you think are these mechanics going to work, without a second screen? Ports, and non-GamePad using games are guaranteed to have ”Off-TV Play”.
Because some games will utilize the gamepad differently. It’s all up to the developers, really, so you can’t put blame on Nintendo.
because not all the game work with that feature?
Think about ZombieU. I don’t see that game being playable with only one screen because of how much you do on the second screen.
Sickr or Alba… please ban that spammer “Leave Luck To Heaven”. He’s already polluting this topic!
Yeah it’s very anoying
his nickname is soap mactavish.HE MUST BE BANED!
Alba, you suck at this.
=s
I mean, how many misleading posts or articles with wrong information are going to post?
are they fake?
No, it’s just given the wrong connotation. For example,
“Not all Wii U games will be able to completely transfer from the TV screen to the Wii U GamePad. When games are able to do so, Nintendo calls the functionality Off-TV Play. Wii U video games that boast this capability will probably have a notification on their game boxes, similar to the Nintendo Network icon.”
could be reworded as
“Developers will have the option to include the Off-TV Play functionality in which the game screen will be moved from the TV screen to the Wii U GamePad. It is likely that games that boast this capability will have a notification on their retail boxes, similarly to the Nintendo Network icon. Games that rely on having two screens, such as ZombiU, will probably not support this function as both screens are required for gameplay.”
Good rewording bro, You’re hired!
who the hell is ALBA?do u meen albanian?
He’s the other writer besides Sickr.
i never knew there more than one i though its just sickr
me too.what the hell is going on on that blogsite?
who the fuck cares. I’d rather play my games on my t.v than the small screen of the upad. unless I need to empty my ass that is.
hahaha thats a funny way of putting it “empty my ass” xD
I only use my tv for video games, haven’t got tv channels on it.
^this :3
Well that answers my question cause how would that work with games with maps for the gamepad? The original way? Have everything on the screen? I dont mind if it’s only some games. But others won’t feel the same way. Oh well.
“Nintendo calls this Off-TV Play.”
You don’t say??? :P
Opening line of article implies it’s because it can’t do it when the interview this was taken from stated it was a matter of choice.
And “Prisonerofyourmom” needs to be banned too.

When playing Wii games with the Wii U can you use “Off-TV play?”
Why? Apparently, the Darksiders developers found it very easy. “Two lines of code”, they said.
its not because its difficult to do, its because some games have the gamepad doing things that require both screens.
All games use it (at least the ones shown until now… even Pikmin) use it one way or the other. In Darksider’s 2 supposedly you have a map and can change weapons easily using the game-pad and it still supports “off tv play”. Porting the scanner in ZombiU or the Batcomputer in Arkham City, for example, to a single screen shouldn’t be that difficult considering it’s already done by consoles without screens on it’s controllers.
eh, I have more than one TV in my house, everyone I know has this as well. I’m honestly not all that well off either. Not really seeing the appeal of this feature outside of “bickering siblings”…but whatever, people seem to like it.
Funny because I was wondering the other day if all Wii U games will be able to have this “Off-TV Play” Becasue look at rayman legends for example with the co-op multiplayer feature using a normal controller and someone using a Wii U gamepad. Well, I guess it makes sense that not all the time you’ll be able to use Off TV Play.
