Nintendo has already begun rebranding existing Wii Remote Plus with the Wii U logo ahead of the console’s launch in North America on November 18th. We already know that Wii accessories will be compatible with Wii U, but the rebranding will help prospective Wii U owners know this. We heard that a number of Nintendo Land mini games will only support Wii Motion Plus or Wii Remote Plus, so expect these to be in high demand.

I have no problems with this, it stops confusion for people that don’t know. Stops people asking “Does this Wii-Mote work on Wii U or do I need a different one”
I got my Golden Wii Plus remote from getting Zelda :D
As did I….. as did I!
*paints mine gold* same here!
i’m glad it’s only the box getting the new name/logo and the remote is keeping the regular “Wii”.
Good point, as that would confuse people more. Box is fine though. I also hope they sticker original Wii Games with a “works on Wii U” sticker too. Would help some parents out I guess.
Makes sense to me too. Also, with your name…
… I C wut u did thar.
Multiple colors? It’s over, Nintendo is finished.
In all seriousness though I kind of hope Nintendo release different coloured Wii U Game Pads, that would be awesome as you can practically hide the console and play since it’s wireless.
nintendo isnt releasing seperate game pads for at least a couple years if at all. also game pads in japan are marked at around 170 dollars USD
So and so.
Smart. It lets people know that these controllers are Wii-U enabled
So when they say ‘rebrand’ they mean slapping a logo on a box, yes? The controller itself seems unchanged.
