Ubisoft managing director Nicolas Rioux has explained that while Wii U was the beginning of creating games on a connected tablet interface, the development studio is currently focussing their attention on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Guillemot says that developing for Wii U gave them ideas of how to create games for the first iteration of tablets connected with console games and they will undoubtedly use this influence moving forward.
“With Assassin’s Creed III, we were involved on the Wii U version. The Wii U was kind of the pioneer of the connected tablet interface. This gave us some ideas for the first iteration of tablets connected with console games.”
“Unfortunately, while the Wii U was the beginning, Ubisoft Quebec’s current focus is creating a cohesive experience between the Xbox One/PlayStation 4 and mobile devices. The studio is not committed to bringing some of these new experiences to the Wii U platform.”
“It’s not confirmed yet, but if it’s possible to do it and it makes sense, yes we will provide some kind of experience on the Wii U. Our focus is on the new generation of Microsoft and Sony consoles.”

Still in LaLa Land. A video gaming consoling having third party support to the fullest keeps people from buying other brands. Example, even if the Shit box wasn’t priced at $500 , why would you need both a PS4 and a Xbone to play the same game. Nintendo is missing that advantage. Those third party titles alone can only do so much and lack of third party titles helps competition.

Next time unleash Mario and gang at launch and months after. When great third parties want to play then let them. But never never let someone else do what you know how to do best. Then pay for third party games that need to be on board. Ubisoft really! Who would have ever thought a company from France would desert us in battle LOL.

Nintendo is the most profitable gaming company of them all and they don’t even have to resort to anti-consumer tactics like EA and Microsoft. Between the 360’s release to Q1 2013 The Xbox 360 has net Microsoft a loss of $426 million. Sony’s entire company has been relatively worse for wear the past few years. They had to sell one of their largest buildings and have had to shut down some of their development teams. Nintendo who only does gaming and can’t support itself with any other divisions like Microsoft does to produce the Xbox has been doing the opposite of Sony and has been strengthening its developers by hiring more people, staff members from Naughty Dogs and Vigil Games to add to their Retro Studios team. Nintendo knows how to run it’s company so that it can make a profit without treating it’s consumers badly. It definitely doesn’t go running around blaming poor sales on it’s fans, as if the used game market was really what’s crushing the gaming industry. “Don’t like used game sales, make better games” “We’re sorry, it’s our fault the Wii U is selling poorly we haven’t provided enough software.” etc.
Or Sony focuses on the hardware and Nintendo focuses on the games, and they should call it PlayStation U :P one can only dream.
You and I both know Nintendo would be a better fit for making the handheld. Sony focuses too much on specs and makes a handheld that’s way too expensive for the dedicated gaming handheld market. They’ve yet to learn that most people who game on a handheld don’t give two shits about power, that’s what they have a home console for.
You do know, that just like the 3DS nintendo is just their own quadruple A ( AAAA ) IPs away from selling the WiiU consistently well. Monster hunter 3 Ultimate sold the Wii U majorly in the UK, a rough market. Nintendo’s own IPs sale even more. Nintendo makes consoles that are gaming centric, with masterpieces every generation. 2006 Reggie told you we could get an HD machine due to only 15% of America being HD tv adjusted. When 83% have HD tvs then nintendo would provide. Provide they did. The Wii U shall be very fine, the xboxone on the other hand is already trailing the PS4 before release. While it looked like a impressive game, not way in hell did it look like the most impressive game at E3.

Even FFXV didn’t look all that much better.. scripted hallway sequences, close up shots during climbing sequences straight out of Uncharted (also scripted) It may have been a bit more polished and detailed, with better CG, but Square has 7 years experience on HD systems, with Monolith Software’s “X” being their very first HD game on a “vastly inferior” console.. It should be night and day, yet it’s not. WiiU vs PS4 is not Wii vs PS3 again, not by a long shot.
Nothing really wowed me personally during E3 except X and FFXV, and I’d have to say X took the cake due to the things I just stated.. weaker hardware with an inexperienced developer with a darn near equal graphics level.
Well, they could always make those tablet features built into the Wii U version so you don’t need to by an iPad or whatever. Just a thought.

Yep, Wii Party was an absolute classic, much loved by me and my friends. If they replicate that with Wii Party U then I think gamers will be in for a treat! It’s my AAA title of the year.

The only thing Ubisoft is focusing on right now is their website being hacked and the fact that they lost personally identifiable information as was stated in the email i recieved this morning because supposedly hackers have my email user name and password currently due to the hacked website

its not the same, retro only has games come out every 3 years, where rareware had like 2 big ones around a year. also their franchises and characters are just as lovable as nintendos are, who has done that since.

I just didn’t picture Ubisoft as a company that would sell out. They invest in the WiiU early on to begin building trust and a fanbase, only to announce that they are abandoning the console just before it starts to sell? They have AAA games coming to WiiU in the holiday season. Why would they jeopardize sales with an announcement like this? They must have recieved a couple of very big checks.

I really had such high hopes for Ubisoft, i guess it can’t be helped, what good is complaining going to do, as long as we still get rayman and watchdogs i’m ok with Ubisost at the moment, Platnium games is supporting wiiu way more than any 3rd party company i’ve seen now.

God, does nobody know that you have to build a userbase first? It’s great that they support the Ps4bone early on, but if they cultivated a userbase on the WiiU their games would sell at some point…

It’s simple.
The ball is in Nintendo’s court.
If they can prove the install base can be built using their 1st party titles, most of these Dev’s will start developing for Nintendo again.
If Nintendo can’t build their own install base, they are on their own this Gen, with a few kickstarter devs.
Unlike Wii, the WiiU HAS power. Maybe not as many cores or as much Ram, but this is NOT a PS3 vs. Wii situation. WiiU will run the games, but Nintendo needs to prove there are enough people to buy the games to restore the faith of the investors, publishers and Devs.

But the problem is, due to the gap in power, people who have both Wii U and X1/PS4 are more likely to buy the third-party games for X1/PS4. There’s no way to win.

I was sad when i read this and when i sent the article to sickr. But Ubisoft is a business. They did their part in helping Nintendo with 3rd party games early in the game. Now Ubisoft is trying to do that with new consoles. They need to get a foothold on the other fans. Now Ninty fans are saying f*ck Ubisoft I won’t buy their games? Take your blindfolds off. Please. Support 3rd party games. In the end, it will be for the better for all of us.

Man I hope you are right Gamer. I really love the Wii U. Also I have to remember the update this summer and we don’t even know what it does. It could boost power or maybe add something more.I really see a lot of potential in this thing. Its just reading one bad article after another on here gets frustrating. And then I take my frustration out on Nintendo. I guess that makes me a pretendo fanboy like Ness’s bitch ass then.
Wonder what this means for good game franchises like Watch Dogs, Rabbids Series, Rayman, and a potential ZombiU sequel….? Or if this means I’ll actually have to eventually get a PS4….
Even Ubisoft if jumping off the Wii U bandwagon. The Wii U is a baby underpowered console. Why bother making games for this underpowered console when you can make games on the real next gen systems.

I figure I should’ve seen this coming when they balled Nintendo by delaying an already completed Rayman game for another year. I knew they had doubts, willing to turn their backs on Nintendo and now that nightmare has come true. Our so called 1# 3rd party supporter has betrayed Nintendo and their so called beliefs of Nintendo as a pioneer gaming experience with twisted hypocrisy. I always somehow knew Ubisoft is BS like EA and I was right. Now I’m not buying shit from any 3rd party. Its the ol so sad Wii 3rd party fiasco all over again but worse than ever. Nintendo, its time to recruit more trustworthy & creative studios while unleashing your wild imaginations and start creating evolutionary games to wow those doubtful souls and make them feel pathetic for judging you and holding you down for being a childish company.
Don’t u think this is Nintendo’s fault? Its their console so they should not rely on third party to increase install base. Yes, graphics is not the end all and be all of a console but if the power and architecture is driving devs away, who is at fault? U know the answer to that. Besides tell me a game that Nintendo released where it beats Ubisoft with how the gamepad is used innovatively. None yet. Even the upcoming 3d mario or mario kart based on the demos at e3 did not showcase gamepad to the fullest. Again, Nintendo has been apologizing for the delays, admitting that their development team is not ready yet for hd, admitting that they are stumped with ideas for the gamepad, admitting that its on them why there is no killer app yet like wii sports, lack of advertising…..and everybody is still blaming everyone but Nintendo. I’m a nintendo fan all the way but take your blindfolds off. It is not helping if the company gets praises for their mistakes repeatedly.
My god, I’m so tired of hearing developers saying they won’t support this console. If the games that were released for it were exclusives and not just ports of games people likely had on other consoles then perhaps that may of helped sales. I feel like the only driving force now is Nintendo, and with no third party support it’s hard to drive console sales. Hopefully this console picks up some momentum quicker, they should just get to it and release a Pokémon home console title, and no, not a spin off, a full fledged Pokémon RPG. They need to invest in some IPs they keep leaving off home console.
I’d like The Crew to be on Wii U. Apart from that, Ubisoft don’t have anything interesting for me that isn’t already going to be on the Wii U.
