Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the creators behind the iconic South Park series, have revealed that their latest game was inspired by a number of Nintendo related titles. Parker says that EarthBound was a huge inspiration for their upcoming game South Park: The Stick of Truth. He also mentioned that The Legend of Zelda’s main protagonist Link and also the 2D and 3D visuals of the Paper Mario series were also big inspirations for the game.

“We’re big gamers and I think what was inspiring the game was a lot more lofty than what we could pull off,” Parker said. “I was a big fan of it and what I kept thinking in my mind was EarthBound.”

“I haven’t played it [EarthBound] again in forever, but I just remember something being about ‘Oh wow, I’m a little kid in a house and there’s my mom and I go outside my house and am fighting like an ant and a little mouse.’ It started out feeling so real,” Parker added. “I kept having in my head ‘do I really want [South Park: The Stick of Truth] to feel like that you are a little kid and you’re playing this game and bigger shit ends up happening.’ But I really loved that feeling that EarthBound had of I’m a cute little kid in my neighborhood and we’re running around playing a game.'”

Please give it over okay, yeah I’m gay but it doesn’t mean I have “Aids” and to be honest love, you need to wise up and learn to live with yourself because deep down you are nothing more than sad, lonely little troll that needs some help.

  1. Yet another game that without Nintendo wouldn’t exist. Tsk tsk, you would think these “hardcore” gamers would show some respect to their elders.

    1. It is disrespectful when you think about it. I’m sure Sothpark would sell really well on Wiiu IF it was a good game and not some POS.

        1. oh… Well still , Ubisoft choose to put franchises like Splinter cell and AC on Wiiu but not Southpark is beyond me.

          1. I’m currently at 186%. All I have left to do are the bosses and temples for worlds 4 through 8 and the final level of world 9 in mirror mode.

  2. If that is the case… THEN RELEASE THE GAME ON WII U YOU LAZY BASTARDS. I mean if most of the elements are pretty much inspired by Nintendo games then why not release it on the console that was created by a Company who created those games that inspired this game.

    1. This game was probably in development long before most devs and publishers were given the opportunity to get Wii U dev kits.

Remember, it has been delayed a few times already because of development issues, THQ’s financial problems, and then the transfer to Ubisoft after the sales of THQ’s assets.

      1. Still, it doesn’t take devs long to make a port now a days on Modern Consoles such as the Wii U, PS4 and Xbox One

        1. According to many, Wii U is more difficult for devs to work with than PS4/Xbox One. With that said, would you want a rushed and sloppy port of a game just so it gets released at the same time?

Ubisoft hasn’t had much time with the game. THQ obviously didn’t want it on Wii U before.

          1. Any proof? Because I could have sworn that Frostbyte, they guys who made Trine 2 said it didn’t take them long to port the game over to the Wii U.

            1. It took them exactly 2 days to have the game fully running the rest of the time was used to ad the pad features.

          2. *according to people who never worked on the console. No developer that has made a wiiu game have never said that.

  3. Pikachu Pi Pika Pika ⚡
(That’s cool how Nintendo continues to inspire people to create games ⚡ )

      1. For those of us who would not like to buy another console just to play this game, that’s who cares.

  4. Pikachu Pika Pi Pikachu Pi ⚡
(So what he is trying to say is that Nintendo inspired him to make this game fir other systems ⚡ )

  5. When ever you here American publisher just don’t even think about them bringing it to the wiiU. Nintendo has destroyed their beloved xbox generation after generation. Now the WiiU is on the rise with real games. Every one rejoice and laugh as EA crumbles. They closed another studio.

  6. Lol good old Ubisoft dont you dare put it on the console later then complain about sales fuck it , its too late for me to want it

    1. If Ubisoft decides to put it on the Wii U, thank them; because the game was in development long before Ubisoft purchased the publishing rights from the sales of THQ assets. They had no say on the game until some months ago.

  7. Well then, FUCK YOU for not releasing it on a Nintendo Platform! (Not that I would have bought the game anyway, but we should complain as a matter of principle :p)

  8. Man, I nearly forgot about this game. Been a long time since I’ve heard anything about it. I Hope it eventually comes to Wii U. Even if it’s much later than other versions.
