Nintendo’s Business Development Manager Dan Adelman has told Joystiq that the company has plans to allow eShop purchasing on PC, Smartphones, and Tablets. Here’s what Adelman told the publication, “[Users will be able to ] log onto the site and set [purchases] up for download so that once they get home, it’ll be available for them and they can have that at their fingertips whenever they need it.”

I don’t think they need it. Check https://p.nintendo.net/deluxe/ out. I can log in from anywhere by using my Nintendo ID.
Hopefully it will able download to the Wii U automatic.
There last update include automatic download/update option while the system is off. So if there’s a foreign purchase or update made for your console, the Nintendo Network will signal your console to go into “standby” mode (low power mode like the Wii) and download the date. :) Very neat feature when you’re away.
Now we just need Nintendo to give 3DS Miiverse with all Nintendo Network functionality and login, both accounts with purchases and currency unified as one, remove the demo/data transfer limit BS and launch more games being playable on both systems. Once all this is addressed, then Wii U and 3DS will be an unstoppable force to be reckoned with. :3 So unstoppable that it’ll make all those jackass 3rd party companies wish they never stupidly disowned Nintendo years ago.

1) Unified account: does that mean the funds on both the Wii U and 3DS accounts combined?
2) How can I be sure it’ll be there once I turn on my Wii U/3DS?
I assuming Spotpass for Wii U will start downloading games you bought as soon the Wii U check for update.

Is purchasing games on smartphone a big deal? I know Steam got it as well PS3 and Xbox 360 but we still need to log in the console or PC to download it.
What would be cool if we can buy it on our smartphones while playing a game on the console and the download to start immediately.
It woyuld be cool if it started downloading while in stanby-mode. Does it not check for things to download once ever hour?
Better mean they have an integrated account system on the way. I wanna be able to reclaim whatever games I bought on the eShop, should my 3DS gets lost, broken, or stolen.

Same here, I got Fire Emblem and SMT4 and can’t download anything since they won’t accept my card.
Overpriced? A $25 eShop costs $25, doesn’t it?
You can’t buy at the eshop with an international card, if you get it in other place like amazon you generally can find it for +$30.
This is why Nintendo is awesome. Miiverse and now the Eshop is more accessible away from the console. Microshit and Sony may never do this.

Sony & Microsoft you know …. just have the unified account system, something which Nintendo seems to be incapable of doing. Plus with Sony you can already buy games on your PC and send them to Vita/PS3. It;s guaranteed they’ll let the Playstation app allow it. Microsoft I believe is in the same boat.
What stops me from logging in on two consoles, with the same NNID and download all the games on the second one? Then, I’d only pay once, for two copies of every game!

If they can launch an app (for phones, tablets and even on 3DS) or a compatible website to perform this feature, then I’ll be set to get busy with buying stuff with my $120 in my account. :3
They should make a NNID app for phones, with Miiverse, eShop, download status and friendlist. Then you can even check who’s online and if your new game has finished downloading!
