Nintendo has confirmed today that the adorable Toon Link will be making a welcomed appearance in Super Smash Bros for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. Toon Link has become the latest character to appear in the long-awaited game and will feature alongside: Peach, Luigi, Kid Icarus’ Pit and Pikmin’s Olimar, and regulars Mario, Bowser, Link, Samus, Donkey Kong, Fox, Kirby and Pikachu. There’s also new additions such as Mega Man, Animal Crossing’s Villager and the Wii Fit Trainer.

Link should be able to switch his Arrows from Normal/Fire/Ice/Light and of course each with different effects on the opponent…

Oh man! I mean, i dont really dislike toon link D: but i was really REALLY hoping for young link from majoras mask to return and bring his 4 mask with him for his down special, and final smash. Im disappointed but happy for those who wanted toon link to return. shame really :/ so much potential waisted….
Actually, Toon Link returning is kinda expected when you consider that Wind Waker HD has been recently released.
Thats the problem though cause he has the same moveset. Nothing unique from his game to make someone that never played wind waker say wow i want to play his game because of how unique he plays.They could have just made the Link that was announced before really good instead of having a clone.
Alot of potential wasted but you know that young link idea is too creative for Nintendo

They should allow Toon Link usage of his other weapons from WW like the multi arrows, the leaf, the baton, and the iron boots where as the SS/Adult Link should use weapons from SS.

I’m fine with toon link. I think we will see a lot more expected characters this year.
They will use new or unexpected characters to build more hype in the last few weeks before the titles will be released.
I expect a massive Nintendo direct in October or very early November. (New footage of the known 2014 releases and one big new announcement)
I’m really mad the Wii U version is going to have the same characters as the 3ds version because the Wii U can have so many more characters compared to the 3ds since the Wii U has much more power and now it’s going to have a limited amount due to the 3ds. What a waste -_-
this is nintendo we’re talking about here. thinking logically and from a gamer’s perspective isn’t something they do. hopefully other characters make it as free dlc in the wiiu version.

Ike proly won’t be returning as for marth too. They will most likely replace Ike with krom and Marth with lucina (masked lucina aka marth)
Hells yeah… I really want Lucina in the game considering there were only 3.5 female characters in SSBB… Lucina would be the one with smooth movement and quick attacks like Marth, while Chrom is the new Ike.
Heck, I wouldn’t even care if they were copies of Marth and Ike with the same movesets, just put Lucina in the roster, Sakurai!!! Pretty please?

I dunno. It’s possible that Ike won’t return (Although I definitely hope not) but I think that Marth is a definite. He has a huge fanbase in the professional brawlers and he’s been around for ages. I think Lucina would just be a new character. Fire Emblem does need more representatives. (Along with Metroid)

The Link in Spirit Tracks is not the same toon Link in WindWaker.
That’s his future grandson. Spirit Tracks take place 100 years after the Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass era.

I am surprised that they’re taking so long to unveil him. Most of the original 12 have already been confirmed. I do agree that he will definitely return since he was in the original and everyone has been loving the Earthbound game on the virtual console
I think that they should introduce a new counterpart for Mario, since Link has toon Link, perhaps Mario should have…wait for it……….. Paper Mario, think about it he could use Sticker attacks and maybe even the Pixels from Super Paper Mario
I actually think that would be awesome. Paper Mario could definitely have a lot of unique attacks and he wouldn’t even be a clone character. Also, he has a Lot of choices for a Final Smash
TOON LINK!!! I’m thrilled that he’s in this game. I wouldn’t really call him a clone since his attacks were different enough to make him a crucial character. I much prefer playing him to Link, since Link is so slow. I mean seriously….I just can’t get into that character, although I have tried. I’m glad that the cast continues to grow, I think it’s cool that they unveil one character a month. Assuming that it comes out for the holiday season in 2014, that’s around 15 more! (DLC not included)

Hell yeah! toon Link is way better than regular link, although i wouldnt mind if they change his moveset a little bit, i dont include the deku leaf or the skull hammer, or change his final smash and make him summon Valoo, Cyclos and Zephos with the wind waker.

I’ve seen DKC: Tropical Freeze footage, and his fur looks pretty detailed, and almost realistic (save for the cartoony artstyle).
Well the graphics aren’t final. Save the complaining until after the game is released.. by then you’ll probably be having too much fun to notice whether the graphics make Toon Link’s hair relistic enough or not, though. ;) 💋

If Toon Link can appear in the Spirit Tracks stage background then Ridley can be in the background of the Pyrosphere AND be playable ^_^
Agreed! Ridley is my second most wanted character. If anything good has come from Toon Link’s inclusion, it is that Ridley can ALSO be in the background of a stage and be playable just like Toon Link is. 💋

Kinda disappointed he is in the game… Sakurai said not everyone would make it in and if Toon Link is in that just means ANOTHER character isn’t gonna make it and it could very well be a character I want like Jigglypuff or Ness. etc. I swear if Jigglypuff isn’t in SSB4… I with throw a fit! 💋

I agree! Some people think the original characters won’t ever be cut, but it isn’t like that’s a “real rule.” Sakurai never said it. It is a “fan rule” that so far has been true… thank god. I hope it is true again. 💋
Also, I noticed that Toon Link looks significantly smaller this time around when compared to normal Link. In Brawl I am pretty sure Toon Link’s head brought him to be about the same size as Link. Toon Link may also have some new moves like the use of his Wind Waker wand thingy (I haven’t played WW yet) as an attack (or is it just a taunt? :/) 💋
I keep losing faith in Sakurai’s decisions… Toon Link? wtf I thought he said he was going to downsize the roster and cut out the extra fat to make room for new characters.

I wonder if these announced characters (Mega Man, Villager and Trainer) are the only NEW characters? I’m hoping there will be more. Three new characters just isn’t enough. Especially when one of those (the trainer) is plain silly.
VERY glad that Toon Link is back. I hope Sonic returns. It would be STUPID if he’s not in it. I pretty much thought of him as a permanent addition when he appeared in Brawl.
