Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has announced that you will be able to rent items in The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds. You’ll be able to rent the items you need before purchasing them. Therefore you can tackle dungeons in the order you like.
with real money? pay to win?
No.
That’s why collecting rupees now is so important. Interesting.
Good thinking. I bet you hit the nail on the head.
Is it optional I hope?
It sounds like a main feature. Like in Skyward Sword? How Link needed to swing his sword in certain ways?
Did this REALLY need to be changed? *facepalm*.
No, they could have rolled out the A Link to the Past dough and applied a cookie cutter, but they decided to further differentiate between the games with nonlinear game play.
Do you see it as a limiting factor?
*rents the best item in the game*
Huh. Personally I prefer to look around the world for my items, but I can see how this new mechanic will make the game more accessible, plus beating the game in a new order isn’t a bad idea too.
Never finding any item in the game world would be disappointing.
Depending on how they execute this, this could either be horrible, or brilliant. Certainly creating the possibility to beat the game in different orders is a good thing, as long as they’re smart about it.
Interesting. I’m glad they are adding some new game play.
This is what people wanted, to get rid of linearity in Zelda. Very interesting.
“Therefore you can tackle dungeons in the order you like.”
YES FINALLY!!! Fuck you haters!
exactly, all the zeldatards probably hate it though because they hate new ways of playing and fresh ideas.
Honestly, it’s about damn time they did this. Now hopefully they do this as well in the Wii U Zelda game.
NO!
If only so they get some practice with non-linearity for the Zelda on Wii U, I think this is a good decision. But I also think it’s a necessary one (maybe not using a shop, per se, but that depends on how interesting its keeper is). The world map is the same; we’re already so familiar with it. If this game is going to maintain the replay-value of A Link to the Past, allowing us to go anywhere straight from the beginning is perhaps the best first step.
Interesting concept!

weird but interesting…we’ll see how that pans out
sounds unique and cool, as long as it has not to be paid with real money
Rubies will be used. Nintendo’s would lose so much if they did microtransactions in a Zelda game.
Rupees. Sorry
Long day.
I am fine with choosing the order of Dungeons you want to do. But renting items…not a fan of that, Would be better if you could just go to any temple you wanted that you had a certain item already that you had found in the game or got as a reward for a mini game.

I wonder how the difficulty level will be since it’s not all linear. Hopefully it’s not too easy or maybe there’s a ‘hero mode’ option available from the start.

your blog?
It’s a shame you don’t have a donate button!
I’d most certainly donate to this fantastic blog!
I suppose for now i’ll settle for bookmarking and adding your RSS
