Nintendo Has Talked About Cross-Buy For Wii U And 3DS, But Nothing Official Yet

wii_u_gamepad_nintendo_3ds

In a new interview, Dan Adelman, manager of business development licensing at Nintendo, has revealed that there has been some talk at the company of the implementation of “cross-buy”, but nothing definite has been decided upon as of yet.

Cross-buy is a policy utilized by Steam and Playstation Network, whereby gamers who purchase a title with one of those companies can then play that title across all platforms offered by that company. For instance, a game purchased on PS3 could also be played on Vita or PSP. Adelman stated that the incorporation of this feature at Nintendo would largely depend on developer demand. For now, we will have to see, but with the degree to which Nintendo is trying to increase the appeal of indie games on its consoles as of late, this move may very well be in the cards in the near future. Here is a quote from Adelman regarding cross-buy on Nintendo consoles:

“We don’t have anything new to announce on that, but I believe that the idea’s been talked about. So it’s something we’re definitely up to considering if there’s enough demand from developers, but nothing to announce for right now.”

  1. that would be good, but you know nintendo is retarded. my hope isnt high because like everything else they pretty much do, they fail and do the stupid thing.

      1. well they have a freaking pizza hut fag running noa and well iwata. thats what is wrong. if this was the nintendo a decade ago none of this shit would be happening. they better stop this but sadly this might continue until the damage is done.

    1. It will take a lot for it to happen on Nintendo console at least until Nintendo makes the wiiu sales stable has no developer likes the idea of working on 2 games versions and give one away free.

          1. well that’s just like saying that Microsoft and sony don’t want offline to bitches that think Nintendo is complete shit when they are really neglecting their rightful creators of the gaming realm. The more you know.

      What company doesn’t?

At least Nintendo make money, Sony need to dominate the console market just to break even.

                    1. Thought so from your previous posts. a sonydrone. Look man, I’ll say it once to you. Its up to you if you decide to try to keep trolling over the wii u rather then shoot, shoot, and shoot some more with the same games over and over, but unless you can play multi systems, you ain’t got shit and considered a wanna-be gamer. You can be like zeama and others but if you want to be number one…play all systems man. You can keep your home system (sony) but its actually a better way to game…incase one falls and it might be Nintendo, Playstation or xbox. Point is, you’ll never go wrong with all. Its your choice man, don’t let me stop you from trying too hard to troll. Just play it…all you gotta do.

                  1. that speech……. didnt do squat. just like nintendo with this wii u snowman. dk tropical freeze got delayed…. again. #WiigiveUdelaysINSTEADOFGAMES

                      1. what do you mean i was acknowledging it is me. im talking to you right now snowman. are you drunk?? how many iceazeamas are there here??

                      2. Nah, to tell the truth, I’m tired from today. Gotta have some fun to unwind. Sorry zeama…thought its been a while since I came back so I dropped by. Too bad it only for now though…but I see this site just picked up more dumb trolls than usual. Anyways, I’m really just fooling around, so what you been doing lately besides trolling yourself?

                        1. “I’m tired from today. Gotta have some fun to unwind.”

                          STRANGER DANGER!! AAAHHHH!! STAY AWAY!!

“I’m really just fooling around,” FOOL AROUNG WITH A STRIPPER!! AAHHHHH!! GET AWAY!!

        1. ME TOO!!

nintendos next console is going to be a really powerful handheld that you can hook up to the tv and use controllers. its the way of the future done right. everything on the handheld but its also the home console too!!

      1. I’d like for them to at least do it for Virtual Console. I have Mega Man 2 on 3DS but I’d rather play it on Wii U, but I can’t warrant buying it AGAIN just to do that, you know.

If they do this and add in folders for the next big Wii U update, you can bet I’ll be buying a LOT more Virtual Console.

      2. something that should have been done since the day the eshop came into existence. the fact that they won’t do it until devs demand it is pretty much never going to happen. fucking nintendo.

      3. ”Nothing to announce”

Im skipping this comment section. Clearly 90% of the people in here don’t understand companies.

      4. They’re in work for a combined account system. Street they have established it, they can work on a lot of cool features. Are they late? Of course. But they are working on it. As long as everything works fine, when they start such services I’m fine to wait a bit more.

      5. The comments section is getting so annoying! Just ignore the two little shit bags (Sevenson and mr.lesorian). Their trolling is terrible and yet you guys either keep replying to them or mention there names.

MH4, cross-buy. You heard it here first. could be a great incentive for some games to get 3DS owners over to Wii U.

VC games would actually be worth the price they charge with cross-buy.

      7. >Cross-buy is a policy utilized by Steam and Playstation Network, whereby gamers who purchase a title with one of those companies can then play that title across *all platforms offered by that company*. For instance, a game purchased on PS3 could also be played on Vita or PSP

Not quite. Cross-buy (which is a trademarked name used ONLY by Sony) is available for select games that are available on PS3 and Vita, but PSP is not in the deal. And while some games that use SteamPlay (which is the name of the similar service Valve uses for Steam games, which precedes Cross-buy) are available on all 3 platforms Steam supports (Windows, Mac and LInux), there is a lot of games that are not available on Linux, but are available on Windows and Mac with SteamPlay enabled.

      8. quote:” if there’s enough demand from developers” ??? It should be if there’s enough demand by consumers. And yes we, the consumers want this badly including an account that is tied to the customer and not the freaking system. Gheez can we make it any clearer???
