Wii Fit U US Retail Release Is January 10th, Nintendo Teams up With Celebrity Trainer Kathy Kaehler

On Jan. 10, the retail version of Wii Fit U for Wii U hits stores, just in time to help people get started on their New Year’s resolutions to be more active and get fit. But Wii Fit U doesn’t require heavy equipment or expensive gym memberships. With Wii Fit U, users can get active by navigating a luge course, spraying a water hose, bouncing on a giant trampoline and even grabbing the new Fit Meter to continue their workouts on the go. Fitness doesn’t get any more fun than this.

“Wii Fit U makes fitness fun. It’s as simple as that,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “Wii Fit U is a great option for busy moms and families who want to stay active in the comfort of their own homes – which is perfect during the cold winter months.”

In addition to the retail launch of the game on Jan. 10, Nintendo is partnering with celebrity trainer and fitness expert Kathy Kaehler, who has trained celebs such as Jennifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore, Kim Kardashian, Cindy Crawford and Julia Roberts. Kaehler’s Wii Fit U Challenge encourages Wii U owners to incorporate Wii Fit U into their busy lives and to continue to stay active throughout the entire year.

  1. I hope this sells like shit so Nintendo cancels all of these casual games and focus on the games people care about.

  2. Nintendo should start integrating 3DS with Wii U software in the Streetpass compartment. What if you could exchange some data through StreetPass from a game, such as Wii Fit U (apart from Wii Fit U communities). When you get home, sync the 3DS with the Wii U to receive the data back. You can check how many steps the other user has taken that days, week,or since getting the game. You’ll want to beat their scores. And through SpotPass, the scores can keep updating. Its just a possibilty im sure many users would want, even for the ones with the Wii U, it will be marketing itself and other users would want to buy their system (Wii U) and join in.

      1. I know, that’s why I said in the future Nintendo can release an update which allows Wii U data to be saved onto the 3DS and then brought back to Wii u (solely StreetPass)

  4. In other news… I FINALLY BEAT SHIN MEGAMI TENSEI IV!!! :D Only took me a couple months :P I got the neutral ending on accident. I don’t think I’ll be playing it through a second time to get the other endings though, because the game takes SO LONG…

    1. It goes a lot faster the second time if you carry over money and a really powerful monster to restart the game. Then you can buy a couple monsters from late in the game and breeze through most the game.

I won’t lie, though, it’ll still take quite a bit of work. And you’re lucky to get the neutral ending. I had to use a guide to get it, since it’s such a narrow gap. – It’s actually probably the best idea to just move on to a different game at this point – Also, I don’t know if you know this or not, but the other endings aren’t really “happy” endings, so they probably wouldn’t feel very rewarding, anyways. I’ve seen all of the endings, and in my PERSONAL opinion, the order ending was…eh…sort of happy but soul-crushing at the same time, and the chaos ending was…oh gosh…so horrible. I literally consider the ending where you blow up the universe to be a better and happier ending than the chaos ending. Oh gosh. But that’s just me.

Anyways, congratulations! That is a tough game.

    1. Wii Fit sold over a quarter of a million copies in its first week, and despite not being released outside Japan, Wii Fit reached the one million unit sales milestone by January 6, 2008, after being released on December 1, 2007. As of January 4, 2009, it has sold 3,125,000 copies in Japan. It is also the third best-selling game of Japan in 2008, as well as the best-selling Wii game in Japan of that year, selling 2,149,131 in that year.

    2. Innovation and uniqueness. Better than Nintendo being lazy and making loads of platformers. The list goes on like Mario, Starfy, Kirby, the early Metroids, Ice Climber, Donkey KOng, Yoshi, Wario, ect.

  6. I already have the full digital copy thanks to the Balance Board and Fit Meter. Now I have a fun way to exercise during the winter instead of joining the average gym that screws you of your money because of some bullshit membership. Besides, Wii Fit Trainer is the best fitness trainer in the world. ^_^

  7. I obviously hope that this sells like shit also, so that nintendo goes back to more gamecube-time games. This casual shit doesn’t interest anyone except casual gamers that have no motivation to work out at home without some stupid software or no motivation to go to gym. And as hard as they try to get these casuals back it aint gonna happen anyways.

    1. What if they are families that don’t feel the need to pay an expensive monthly membership when joining a gym. After one time we joined and we were leeched of our cash when not going there religiously, we went “Fuck it!” and never went there again (It was Planet Fitness by the way). That’s one of the main problems with joining a gym membership.
