Alien: Isolation Dev Says They Have No Plans For Wii U Version

The official Twitter account of Creative Assembly’s long-rumoured Alien title Alien Isolation has confirmed that the developer has no plans to bring the game to the Wii U.  The game is due for release on Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PC in late 2014. Alien: Isolation follows the plights of Ellen Ripley’s daughter Amanda, sent aboard remote trading station Sevastopol on a mission to recover the flight recorder of her mother’s ship, the Nostromo, 15 years after the events of the original Alien movie.

Right now, we don’t have plans to put the game on Wii U.

Thanks, Mike S

        1. Save yourself. Just don’t bother buying a WiiU. Seriously, Monster hunter is the only reason I touch it these days.

          1. Really? I have not been able to stop playing mine…now I be fair I guess I found xenoblade and picked it up, so my last 32 game hours played has been a wii game, not counting 3D world with my wife, and wii sports HD

            1. Same here, there was a time when I didn’t play it for awhile but now it’s the system I mostly play now. It’s his own fault, he complains about lack of games and yet there’s some good ones out.

              1. I admit, I enjoy MassEffect (launch title), AC4 and Monster Hunter. There are also a handful of Indie games I adore.

That said, I know NC doesn’t own one. He actually made a good move. He should wait until he can get one for $200-$250 w/bundle. By the time he gets one, he wil have a larger library than I did when I paid $350 at launch and got royally fucked by Nintendo for 8 months.

          2. Well I haven’t played a Mario game since NSMB Wii so I will definatetly get SM3DW, Pikmin 3, TW101 and DKCRTP to start with unless Mario Kart 8 is released before I get the Wii U…

          3. I’m glad I didn’t buy one yet. The four games, so far, that I want for it won’t be out for quite awhile.

          4. Well my recommendation to you good sir is to try the Wonderful 101. I have a feeling that you will end up treating it like Monster Hunter. Yes the demo sucked but once you try the game, spend some time with it and learn to upgrade and build skill, the game becomes highly addicting. I just beat Wonderful 101 today and was laughing hysterically with my family as they watched me play it. Hideki Kamiya is a genius as well as the other good folks at Platinum. Can’t wait for Bayonetta 2.

  2. People will say we bash the game cuz is not coming to wiiu but think about it? Did the last game game was worthy of any praise and did they gave us any hope for that?

    1. Still got 1 Sonic game from Sega to come under the 3 game deal.

Still have the “AAA port” from Tantalus to come too.

But yea, thats only 2 games. It’s not great, or even good. It’s pretty fucking poor. :(

But it will also get licensed and casual stuff. Just Dance and Movie tie in games will continue to come. They always do, on every platform.

    2. Puyo Puyo Tetris…. Bayonetta 2….. Project Cars…..Child of Light….Dragon Quest…..X……. Shin Megami Tensei…….

  3. It really just goes to show that the devs don’t really have faith in the games they’re creating. I mean, they don’t work on a Wii U version because of the low install base but that means they also don’t believe their games are good enough to improve that.

    1. Yep. If Nintendo can’t build their install base, nor release games during the first year, why would the devs?

      1. Why Nintendo has to be only one, that has to raise the user base by themselves?
Nintendo is the only one that does not pay for ports?

        1. It’s the opposite. 3rd parties provided a lot of support at launch. Only Nintendo failed to support their own console. Now the devs just gave up.

  4. To all the People who are comparing this game to Aliens: Colonial Marines, remember that this game is being made by an entirely different developer, not Gearbox et al. So it has every possibility of being a decent, or hell even good game… even if the last game the devs worked on was Total War: Rome II.

  5. they cancelled the WiiU version because the other one FLOPPED and failed hard
now they think they made a cool decition when even the PC was a big fail
Alien, ill stick to the old games and movies

        1. You did say the WiiU version of the new Aliens was cancelled because the other one flopped. So if it flopped on the other systems, how can that be the reason the WiiU version was cancelled? You’re not making any sense

    1. not really, i dont care of alien after the hype of colonial marines, and the the cancelation when the Ps3/x360/PC flopped

      1. But they’ll have to get it right eventually.

The premise and footage from this one looks better than Colonial Marines.

It could still turn out to be a disaster. But it’s a different developer making a different type of the game with the same franchise. They could get it right.

But the gamepad acting as the motion tracker would be so so so so so soooooooo unbelievably perfect for this game. It’s annoying they’re not even considering a Wii U version.

        1. well, we saw it coming
is like EA saying it is Nintendo’s fault none of their game sold
they sucked hard, but it was our fault

          1. The reason EA’s games didn’t sell is not because they sucked.

I have NFSMWU and it’s excellent. I thought the ME3 port was supposed to be quite good as well? Although I haven’t played it.

But it’s because they were old ports. Almost everyone had played those games already. People rarely have just 1 console. So all these people with their new Wii U’s, likely had a 360 or PS3 as well, and will almost certainly have played those games already if they were interested in them.

Publishers seem to think that each console has its own set of users. There will be some that only have 1 console. But most gamers will generally at least 2. So when they say “our audience isn’t on the Wii U” No! your audience has just played that game already on their other system. Give them a new game and they’ll buy it for the Wii U.

              1. the reason why EA games didn’t sell is because WiiU failed. It didn’t advertise, it had no games, and all games that came out were baby games to further prove that all nintendo cared was children and casuals. They didn’t prove that its much more powerful than ps360. No casuals play EA games. If EA releases baby game for young children it will 100% be ported to WiiU lol trust me on that

              2. What the fuck? Most wanted was great, ME3 was great, ZombiU was great. 3rd parties did their part. Nintendo just decided no software would sell units. See how that’s working for them?

      2. I love the Aliens franchise, and this is an entirely different developer. This has nothing to do with the last game.

  6. That sucks. I watched some previews for this and it could be an amazing game. Obviously we’ll have to wait and see what the end product is, because I thought Aliens: Colonial Marines was going to be good too… Oh well, I guess I could always pick it up for 360 if it’s any good, but I would rather have it on Wii U.

  7. If it ends up being as good as the trailer showed I’m getting it on PS4 since my brother will be getting one later this year.

    1. You lucky bastard! ;D I may sell one of my 3DS’ and try to get a PS4 also.

I wonder if I can sell a 3DS with a shitload of downloaded games for $300? Maybe I’ll try to sell it on eBay.

Ofcourse, I’d never part with my primary 3DS.

      1. I know I’m lucky :) have you seen the gameplay trailers yet? It looks scary as hell. Of coarse I won’t put my hopes TOO high, we all know what happened last time.

        1. You have me all excited again!! D: Is it too much to ask to play an Aliens game? I’ve been waiting forevarr!

          If it will be released on PC, and if it’s not TOO much of a Graphics card monster, I may get it for my laptop, but I’d rather game on a console. ;.;

          1. Technically it’s not an Aliens game since there’s only one Alien that hunts you and is a one hit kill if he gets you.

    1. *looks to the other game*
is not us, is that that company has never made a competent game
also, im not saying is shitty, just that they are feeling awesome after taht fail

    2. I’m a Nintendo “fanboy” but I still think this game is going to be awesome, the glory of being Gamer God instead a Console R-Tard like yourself.

I most likely get it on PS4 but I do hope they change their minds about a Wii U version.

      1. since i got all the consoles, i dont care either, I could get it on Ps4 but i wont since i dont like Alien at all

          1. I like it but is not the kind of media im after
I rather have RPG or a very solid FPS, like Borderlands 2 than this

    1. no
      creative assembly

but that isn’t a sure shot either because so far CA has done nothing but RTS games so there’s no telling whether the game will be great or a disaster.. or something in between
the first trailer looked promising at least

      1. slight correction: CA has made some 3rd person action games (which weren’t anything special though)

but isolation is neither an RTS nor an action game

  8. i’m so tired of hearing these announcements…

of course games on the wii u can’t sell if hardly anyone ever tries to bring them to it.. and by “trying” i don’t mean a shoddy port that has features missing

    1. The games released at launch were great. 3rd parties started with full-blown games, then shoddy ports, then no games at all. Nintendo had a year. A fucking year ahead of the competition. The WiiU is a great console. I love it. I love the gamepad, but Nintendo fucked up, maybe beyond repair. They didn’t learn from the 3DS launch, in fact, it was far worse.

      1. well.. zombiu wasn’t really that special… not a bad game certainly, but not a great game either, it did have too many flaws for that… and apart from that? mostly ports that had already been available for months.. not exactly something to get excited about

the launch was already fucked up so yeah it started out bad and didn’t really improve from there what with all the delays and stripped feature ports

nowadays most 3rd parties won’t even try and those that do often deliver an experience so underwhelming that no one wants to buy the game for the wii u

nintendo definitely fucked that one up no doubt about it
maybe they should just pour a bunch of money on 3rd party devs and ask them to port the game… quality port of course

not sure if it’s that simple but it’s what i would try anyway

i’d love to get the game for wii u, the gamepad is potentially awesome for an alien game, but of course i can’t when it’s not being offered

        1. I will respectfully disagree with you. I thought ZombiU brought back the true Survival Horror experience, and the devs were so much fun to interact with. It’s one of my favorite games. :)

          1. well i’m just talking generally here
it’s a good game make no mistake

and of course some would have loved the game and if you did then all the better for you, but the opinion of the press and many users was that the game wasn’t as good as it could have been

  9. wow a lot of games are coming to ps4 this year
    infamous second son

    driveclub
and 20 more games just wow

  10. This is an unfortunate story. Given the recent history of the past Alien game that the Wii U consumer were promised but not delivered.

I do not want to say Nintendo should implore the developer to put this game on the Wii U, because I have a few ideas what they could do, implementing the gamepad, beyond a map and weapon control. Sadly, I am no developer.

Oh well, at least the franchise will get another chance because Alien: Colonial Marines was an EPIC FAIL on the other console. Hopefully it is not tainted anymore.

  11. ok, sega F&*ck you in the goddamn shit ass mouth, u give us sonic as an exlusive that sony and xbox wipe their ass with and yet you dont give us the damn thing that we actaully want on the damn wiiu, this game look good and hopefully is not another colnial marines. i hope this game is shit becuase that way i wont be sad about it not coming to WiiU

  12. I would not be surprised, if this great looking game is a hit, that the promise of more $$$ does not reverse this news byte. (I hope it does come to Wii U)
