NPD: Xbox One Was The Best Selling Console In December

Microsoft has announced that the Xbox One was the best-selling console in the United States for the busy month of December. The console was followed by its predecessor, the Xbox 360. The Xbox One sold 908,000 units and the Xbox 360 sold 643,000. We are still waiting to find out how Nintendo did with Wii U and Nintendo 3DS and how Sony did with the PlayStation 4.

NPD: Xbox One and Xbox 360 were the top selling consoles for each generation in the US in December. 908k (Xbox One) and 643k (Xbox 360)

      1. Then maybe you should post AFTER you got the Nintendo numbers.

Makes no damn sense to post information that is completely irrelevant to your website.

        1. It’s kinda a middle finer to all the fans who come here for NINTENDO NEWS.
From my perspective it looks like a click bait lure for trolls to get money

            1. Yeah but why are you posting nintendos competitors? That doesn’t make any f$&&ing sense. That’s like running an apple and iPhone website and posting samsung news.
              Where is the logic?
Don’t tell us to chill, you should clean up your act

      2. This isn’t gamer news…. It’s nintendo news. obviously your readers don’t want to see competitor crap on here. They can go to ign or gamespot if they want to read news on other consoles. Period. Getting tired of the click bait crap that is pretty much the majority this site posts anymore.

    1. Seriously…
Idk what’s with sickr and other consoles games and sales, but I fail to see what this has to do with Nintendo news

I mean besides, the wii u was outsold by the one… Hooray?

    1. It sells there, “‘cuz its ‘Murican” (made in China).
At least we get to laugh at abysmal Asian sales soon, which apparently mean nothing for box fanboys.

  1. YES! This proves that America’s still got it! I’m glad to see the Xbox doing very well. I prefer both Nintendo and Sony, but we all need to do good if the video game industry is going to stay strong

  2. How can they say that if they don’t know Wii U’s numbers yet?… I will LAUGH SO HARD if Wii U sold more than Xbox One in U.S.

    1. Would be awesome if nintendo was like “we sold 2.3m consoles in December… Which is why we had issues with the eshop.” Then drops the mic and walks off stage.

  3. Keep in mind that for Microsoft mind, portables are are not consoles, so rumors said the 3DS sold more than the Xbox One

    1. Of course they would. Microsoft is the kid on the playground who adds rules into games out of the blue when there’s a hint at them losing.

  5. Coming from the guy who said Metal Gear Solid 5 was an exclusive? As much as I believe its true because they market the hell out of it, I’ll wait to see what Sony’s numbers are.

    1. supply and demand

when something is sold out that doesn’t have to mean it sold a lot.. could also mean that supply is simply lower

  6. The PS4 was available in fewer regions, of course it sold less units than the X-Bone. If we were to compare the total sales in each region the X-Bone and PS4 both sold in, the PS4 would win.

Gotta love calculations that make a console look better off than it is…

Before anyone says it, I’m no fan-boy of anything. I like Nintendo (its why I’m here), I like Sony and I like Microsoft (except for the X-Box One). I’m an all around gamer, not taking sides.

Gotta have disclaimers when posting comments about the console wars these days, too many people look for a fight were there is none! -.-

  7. how about this lets release the xbox one and ps4 side by side in japan and watch how quick ps4 doubles in sales worldwide compared to xbox one

  8. also i work in different walmarts everyday as i travel all over florida for them and i can tell you this the xbox one has at least 2 returns sitting in the stockroom at every walmart i have gone to in the past 2 months i believe i have only seen 1 ps4 return during that same time period and that was because of a defect wouldnt turn on where as most of the xbox ones are just straight up returns i would assume parents and other people only bought xbox ones because ps4 wasnt available during the holiday season and they needed to get a new system as a christmas present or to satisfy a kid that was crying about a new system and the returns are because the kids didnt like it and they returned to buy a ps4 when they hit the shelf.

  9. IGN posted the same bullshit story.

Numbers based off $$$ and not actual sales numbers. Not to mention the fact that the PS4 was sold out everywhere

  10. Microsoft add precisely nothing to the gaming industry. Why the hell would you buy an Xbone over a PS4? Why would you buy either of them frankly, but the PS4 is at least objectively superior to Xbone in pretty much every department. (As is and was the also-rubbish PS3 compared to even worse 360)

    1. i'm so glad that the nsa's backdoor console did so well. i'm a proud supporter of my rights being taken from me and military forces dying in vain. this surely proves that earth is full of more educated specimen than otherwise thought!

      *chink console

      1. You have a very long name, “i’m so glad that the nsa’s backdoor console did so well. i’m a proud supporter of my rights being taken from me and military forces dying in vain. this surely proves that earth is full of more educated specimen than otherwise thought!”

  11. LOL Xbox One is nearly $200 more expensive than the Wii U yet the One still sold over 900k?
The Wii U is so DEAD!!!

  12. Microsoft has announced that the Xbox One was the best-selling console in the United States for the busy month of December. The console was followed by its predecessor, the Xbox 360. The Xbox One sold 908,000 units and the Xbox 360 sold 643,000.

    Microsoft has announced

    Nothing to see here folks.
