Pokemon Animation Launches on Hulu

This morning, The Pokémon Company International and Hulu announced that fan-favorite Pokémon animation, including episodes from the animated series, full-length feature films, and an animated special, is coming to Hulu or Hulu Plus, adding to Hulu Kids’ ever-expanding children’s entertainment offerings.

Hulu Plus subscribers can now enjoy:

  • The first season of the Diamond & Pearl story arc (Season 10), with three additional seasons coming soon (Seasons 11–13)
  • The four-part Pokémon Origins animated special
  • The feature-length animated movie Pokémon: The Rise of Darkrai

Three other movies, including Pokémon: Giratina & the Sky Warrior, Pokémon: Arceus and the Jewel of Life, and Pokémon—Zoroark: Master of Illusions launch later on Hulu Plus. Pokémon fans will also be able to catch the first two episodes from the recent animated season, Pokémon the Series: XY, which is based on the recently launched blockbuster video games, Pokémon X and Pokémon Y.

Everyone in the U.S. can now visit Hulu Kids and instantly stream:
The Pokémon Origins animated special Five exciting episodes from the first season of the Diamond & Pearl story arc

More episodes from the Diamond & Pearl story arc launch soon, as well as the first two episodes of Pokémon the Series: XY.

Named after the video game titles on which they are based, the Diamond & Pearl seasons follow Ash and Pikachu as they travel the Sinnoh region, meeting new friends like Dawn and Piplup and running into longtime friends like Brock, as they prepare to take on the Sinnoh League.

Pokémon Origins is a four-part animated special that tells the story of the very first Pokémon video games, Pokémon Red Version and Pokémon Blue Version. As the hero, Red, sets off from Professor Oak’s laboratory to explore the Kanto region, he’ll encounter the iconic and villainous Team Rocket, battle his rival Blue, and challenge the Pokémon League.

Animated content on Hulu and Hulu Plus will first be available in English, and most content will follow in Latin American Spanish soon after.

            1. Well they had a lot to cover, which they did in about the time of a movie (though in parts).. I think they handled it pretty well. :)

          1. That’s how I felt about Origins. It was by far the most disappointing reboot since Man of Steel.

(P.S. I kinda liked Man of Steel, but I can’t say the same for Pokémon Origins)

  1. Origins was great, awesome introduction for 2010+ kids who didnt grow up wit original pokemon, im 25, still remember trading charmander for a charmeleon then crying cuz i couldnt use charmeleon lol good times

Perfect addition to Hulu Kids, god knows the pokemon Tv App is crap

Where the heck did you pull that “fan-favorite”-part out of? The tv-series is currently the weakest link in the franchise. Been that for a long time, too.

    1. Pokemon could be the next Archie Sonic when it comes to tv animation! The comic won a Guinness record for longest running comic book based on a video game, so Pokemon will win a Guinness record for longest running tv series based on a video game!
