Japan and the West are very very different. You might think Christmas is the best time of the year, but Japan could care less.
Pink, there is a holiday season following in Japan. And games ALWAYS have a rise during that time so I don’t see your logic as I have looked into the holiday following in Japan and THERE IS ONE. And its not a minority either

It’s not a national holiday like it is in the West. Further, while it isn’t as large as Western celebrations and it takes on a different meaning, Japan does celebrate Christmas. It’s more of a secular (and to a lesser degree, a romantic) holiday there though.
Businesses saw the amount of money that Western companies were making due to the holiday season and they adopted that.

Have you ever imagined playing an old classic that you loved and wanted it to be online to show off your skills or even play with friends and family that live to far away to play the game with them. Imagine Super Mario World with online and voice chat, Mario kart with online and voice chat or even super smash bros! from N64 with online multiplayer and voice chat the list can go on and on this can be something that I know will be a hit! We together can make this happen if we show nintendo that we really want this! This would be amazing!

Wii U needs a lot of games. Certainly more than one measly little Kirby game. Wii U should release Metroid, Kirby, Star Fox, Fire Emblem, Animal Crossing, Pokemon, Mario, Earthbound, Nintendogs, Kid Icarus, Ice Climbers, Zelda and Miyamoto’s new IP all on the same freaking day!!!! That will sell Wii U’s….
Nintendo should literally bomb the video gaming market with a crap load of AAA games all at once. It would be so hyped, everyone would be forced to buy a Wii U out of sheer awesomeness.

Well, anyone can like whatever they like but these numbers don’t mean the people of Japan prefered Dark Souls over Donkey Kong. The PS3 has a ton more of owners and it’s normal that the number is higher for a well-made PS3 game.
If you have a single console with a smaller install base then you will have less sales than a game available for multiple consoles. DKCTF is a good game and sales are consistent with the size of the user/install base.
In a side note.
Once gaming became trendy/mainstream it lost It’s charm. Now people are focusing on following the trend instead of enjoying the games. Heck, all the WiiU problems can be traced to the trending magazines & journalism. Previous consoles has seen worse launches and periods without games, yet people burn this console.
