Mario Kart 8 producer Hideki Konno and director Kosuke Yabuki have praised the power of Nintendo’s latest home console Wii U and say that the game will deliver a visually impressive experience. Konno explained to GameSpot that they have put a lot of effort into making Mario Kart 8 a good looking game, and he concluded by saying that it’s a very pretty game. Here’s what they had to say.
“We’re working with HD for the first time, and we really wanted to take advantage of that,” Mario Kart 8 producer Hideki Konno said in a roundtable interview attended by GameSpot. “The last console version was Mario Kart Wii, which was released in 2008, so it was about six years ago. And during those six years, we were able to incorporate a lot of technology in our development process, but especially on the graphics side. So we put a lot of effort into making this a good looking game–it’s a very pretty game.”
“This time with the power of the Wii U we really made an effort to keep that graphic quality high regardless of how many ways we were splitting the TV into.”
“We’ve also been able to show movement on the [karts and bikes] that we haven’t seen before,” he said. “We’re seeing bounding, we’re seeing different parts of the kart move, we’re seeing dirt on the tires, we’re seeing skidmarks left on the course–again I think we’ve done a good job of utilizing that graphical power.”

I don’ think this is some big conspiracy to make the Wii U seem better like some of you seems to believe. They never compared the power of it to other consoles, they could simply be happy that it has enough power to do some things they couldn’t do in Mario Kart before.
I mean, considering the Wii was a essentially GameCube with a new controller, this is their first real hardware jump in over 10 years, so they should be pretty happy. It’s not often that Nintendo lets their devs get a hardware boost, so they probably feel like kids in a candy store with their mom’s credit card in hand. Good for them, they’ve been working on that past hardware long enough, they deserve to enjoy this

Well what needs to be done to make it look better? What doesn’t look good in the game. Visually, it seems to go very well with its art style, nice colors from what they’ve shown, a decent amount of detail even in the karts and bikes, the hover effect has a nice classic appeal to it, reminiscent of back to the future flying cars, only with lights on the tires. I’m not gonna say it’s jaw dropping, few things are, and I won’t really know til I own it, but it seems to do exactly what it’s going for and even a bit more. If you just don’t like the art, don’t blame the graphics, that’s just your own opinion of what looks appealing. In which case, it wouldn’t be, the graphics look standard, but, more appropriately, the art direction doesn’t appeal to me :)

Beside Nintendo, the only other studio that I remember saying something like “The Wii U have power” is retro studio, and those guys are…well Nintendo.
It is not like Nintendo can not do Wonder with his own hardware, and not to underestimate Retro Studio DK; TP, but the only studio I have seen that actually is pushing the Wii U in the right direction, from a tecnical stand point, is Platinum Games.
Other develper are not evan trying because they want Nintendo to fail. Everyone know that Wii U is the most powerful system but they just want to spread lies because they are being paid by Sony.

I think they are not traying, that is true, if someone else said other wise, then they are in denial, but I do not think is because they want Nintendo to fail, it is just that it is cheaper to not make an effort to make their versions of their games for the Wii U look as good as the PS4 or XBO; and that is not counting the fact that the Wii U is not selling well because of Nintendo (or maybe it is only Iwata, who knows?) arrogance, even if the Wii U have 10 million unit sold by today, nor Activision, nor Ubisoft, nor anybody would put effort enough to make the Wii U version at part or the superior version of a multiplat game.

It’s so friggin’ easy to enter the settings in inFAMOUS and brighten it to make it look better. The default setting is kinda dark, yes, but wow… seriously? Knack was meant to be cartoony, it doesn’t destroy the game. That’s a personal preference. Framerate? Really? I’ve NEVER had an issue with ANY PS4 game with framerate but definitely have on Wii U. And dual screen isn’t even utilized on Wii U, hell Donkey Kong shuts the damn thing off. A second screen is terribly unnecessary and isn’t used well with most Wii U titles. Stop trying to make a system that’s clearly not as powerful seem like it’s better JUST because it’s made by Nintendo. I’ve supported Nintendo since the NES days and have had every console and handheld since. Your ignorance is quite sad really. You think ONE game with a high framerate makes a system better than another.
