    1. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!!!!

    1. Whats so special about these games? Not talking about pokemon, I’m talking about Ruby and Sapphire. I disappeared after Gold and when I came back in White I discovered that the quality of pokemon designs had gone down severely. Please don’t respond with an argument about designs, just tell me why I should buy this game?

      1. The main reason that people are so excited is because Ruby and Sapphire were many pokemon fan’s first games, and therefore their favorites.

      2. Well, it’s quite difficult to answer that question, seeing as I don’t know your personal preferences. That being said, I know many people will want to buy one or both of these games because of their fond memories of the original versions. Others will buy them because they enjoy playing Pokémon, and will want to play this next installment. And some others, myself included, will want to buy it because they are fans of Pokémon, who perhaps did not have the chance to enjoy the originals and would like to experience this remake of the 3rd Generation of Pokémon. There are likely many other reasons; however, I know not which, if any, would apply to yourself.

          1. Well, I do believe many people play it for both the main story and then ultimately for the many things to be done afterwards, such as breeding, training, trading, completing their Pokédex and whatnot.

      3. You have no idea what you missed with 3rd gen. Its among one of the best sequels of the series and also hosts some of the most badass PKMN designs you’ll ever see like Metagross, Groudon, Deoxys, hell even the most epic dragon of all dragons: Rayquaza! :3 Also the music rocks and speaking of that, you gotta hear the Regi trio theme. Its so phenomenally awesome it puts ALL TRIOS and their themes to shame.

      4. Lol, “quality of pokemon designs had gone down severely.” Look, no one is making you buy the game. If you don’t like ’em for whatever reason (*cough, genwunner, *cough) then don’t get them.

        1. Now, now, let’s not resort to name-calling, please. What differentiates us from the unsavory people who make the comments section on this site terrible is the manner in which we treat others in our replies. Thank you very much.

      5. Ruby and Sapphire was the first game to allow for gender options in both versions (only the special Crystal version had previously). This set the norm for gender options for further Pokémon titles. It was also the first game to have a story. R/B/Y and G/S/C had very little story. It was primarily about getting all the badges and stopping Team Rocket. There wasn’t any substance really. So R/S/E were the games that started giving you a storyline to follow and a backstory on Poké history. No, I don’t think it’s the best game, but it definitely set the pace for future titles. I’m sorry to hear you don’t like the quality of the designs, I personally think some of them are hit or miss, but they’re not all terrible. But if you didn’t play it before now would be a good time as it is definitely a great game, there’s lots to do and I’m sure there has been new features added in as well!

If I remember correctly, Ruby & Sapphire were the first Pokemon games to have the new land be vastly different depending on the version you bought. Ruby had more land areas while Sapphire had more water areas. It’s been ages since I played in that generation, so I might be totally wrong.

  1. Ah ha! There it is. xD
I posted this a a little while ago, thought someone would see it.
    But now it’s here. x3

Anyways….looks pleasing! Can’t wait to actually see some sort of gameplay of it….you know. Just seeing the epic box art doesn’t really catch my attention, that much. :D

      1. hooolllllylylyylylylylylyl shit!!!!! this is amazing!!!!! yesss, but lets just hope that they dont add the newer pokemons (diamond and above) i want the game to be the exact same as i remember but with online and a longer story!

        1. hahah, if it wasn’t that groudon has capital omega instead of lower omega, takes me back to dynamics class.

  2. so excited for this, I love surprises. People have been hinting at this remake for about 6 months online but it’s not reality until it’s officially announced.

This teaser video was out of nowhere. I look forward to seeing details emerge on the remake. I can’t wait to see all the updates in the Hoenn region. Will definitely be pre-ordering.

Also E3 is like 5 weeks away so I wonder what Nintendo has planned?

  3. Can’t wait, now couple this with a Wii U Pokemon Fighting game that is able to interact with Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire AND Pokemon X/Y then my life will be complete

    1. Nintendo is my Blood

I was hoping for a Pokemon Z announcement but this is just as epic!!!

…Aww shit, does this mean that after this people are gonna be nagging saying “Sinnoh confirmed”?

  4. 83 YES..YES…YEEEEESSSS!!!

The faithful day of Ruby/Sapphire comeback has finally arrived! ^_^

        1. For once im actually siding with sasori this time why cant they just release the legendary trio for x and Y not release a remake ? this is why i made Pokemon Y my final game i’ll be glad to be retired from the series!

          1. actully i am not 100% sure this going to be a “remake” as the others in the past. I feel like that might be sending to hoenn (nowdays) after the events of x and y. Theres probably going to be megas and well if they sent you back to the oringal hoenn that would make no sense in my opinion. This might be a new game in old setting. You never know they gave us pokemon b/w 2 instead of gray this might be them throwing another wrentch into the formual

  5. -Insert black person talking shit about Nintendo and how this a “rehash” but ultimately failing here-

  6. And thus, Pokemon fans everywhere rejoiced. The war for the remakes was finally over, and they could now go home.

  7. SherlockWillFightBilbo

Why didn’t they reveal this at E3? Could’ve been HUGE. Image if they had a live show and began with THIS!

    1. If they did, what do you think would happen with the attention on the Wii U? It would pull all the attention from the Wii U towards the 3DS which is bad because the 3DS already has enough people interested in the system.

    2. Tallon Ridley XIII: Kalas

What Trolls for good said. Nintendo was clever to announce this a month in advance. And here is a fun fact about E3 2013 for Nintendo: they could have revealed some stuff about Zelda for Wii U but held off because they didn’t want it to take away from Link Between Worlds.

      1. Not to mention that they announced this news in MAY!!! Wait a minute… the birth gem for May is an emerald. Are we gonna get an Emerald remake too?!!

        1. Tallon Ridley XIII: Kalas

Considering the names Alpha & Omega, I doubt there is going to be an Emerald remake. Like the previous remakes, these will take the story from the 3rd game in that gen & put it into both Alpha Sapphire & Omega Ruby. Unless they actually try to make these games be true sequels, and not just remakes. I hope for the latter. It’d be nice to see games that we’d expect to be remakes become sequels instead that take place in the same continent as the 3rd generation.

  8. whooho !!! Nintendo wins holiday season already looool.

wii u will have smash and Zelda most likely and possibly a small title too.

    of course,,,,,,project cars is too!

  9. Hey Sickr. Just wanted to link you to my video. I have thanked you and your team on this website. If you had not posted this up, I would not have known about it!! :D

  10. Watched the video once. Then one more time… these aren’t remakes. More like sequels. Might be worth picking up, though!

  11. If this means the return of the Battle Frontier then it might finally be time to move my Pokémon from HeartGold!

  12. I’m not really excited about these titles,to be honest.I love Ruby and Sapphire but I have already experienced their greatness and I’m on a Pokemon overdose right now.Hopefully I’ll be able to enjoy these games when they come out.

    1. OBVIOUSLY IF THEY’RE GOING BACK TO AN OLDER GAME THEY’RE NOT GONNA HAVE A NEW WORLD DUMBASS.

      1. Dude, the caps, the weakest cheap insults, all signs of a pathetic troll. Please stand down before looking like an ass.

  13. Nintendo Commander Quadraxis

By the Mario Kart 8 ND surprise and now this one, imagine the full out blown surprises at E3!

  14. THANK YOU NINTENDO, THANK YOU GAMEFREAK! OMG! I’ve been waiting forever for this game to be announce! My body is so ready! Can’t wait!

    1. Haters that is Agent Smith trying to bring down Neo (Nintendo) for becoming or redeeming as the One of the gaming world.

Neo (Nintendo) fights back and Agent Smith (Xbot virus) gets a full head on collision of a train packed with awesomeness.

      ^_^ Haters gonna hate.

  15. geez I hate pokemon games, I can’t stand them but from a more neutral point of view this game should have been release for Wii U as well and have an online feature which will allow you to exchange pokemon via miiunivers. it’s a miss opportunity which could have sell more wii U. If Nintendo will release also on wii U, they could have include an unlockable feautre either on 3 DS or Wii U (i.e. the suppa duppa mystical legendary epic pokemon).

  16. im not a pokemon fan, i dont like them, but a lot does love them.
im just wondering… is it know a new game or a remake?
in the trailer it says new adventure…
    an in the article remake.
    its a DS remake?

  17. Holy shit, I just spilled my Red Bull all over the keyboard. This is awesome! This time around, it will actually be a really big overhaul, since it will be in 3D.

  18. This sound more like a reboot/remix than a remake. Which can be a good thing or a bad thing depending on who you ask.

  19. I see many people here speculating that these games will be more like sequels to Ruby and Sapphire. I believe these games will follow a path somewhat like HeartGold and SoulSilver, which were remakes which were expanded on with content and features from the following two generations while still keeping true to the original game in most respects.

    1. That’s probably the idea, there’s emphasis on the “DRAMA” so I think they’re simply updating the storyline now that they have the power of the 3DS to make something that feels climatic and extreme instead of little gingerbread men talking about how the end of the world is coming against a rainy background effect.

      1. Ha! I would be lying if I said that that last remark did not make me laugh. That being said, I definitely agree that they will probably be using the power of the 3DS to make Hoenn a lot grander and more impressive than what could be shown with the GBA. If you just take a look at HeartGold and SoulSilver, the 3D buildings and better graphics of the DS made Kanto and Johto seem that much bigger and more impressive in scale, at least in my opinion. I’m eager to see what Nintendo will have for us this time around with these new games.

  20. INSTA-BUY ruby was my first pokemon game(i sucked at it, didn’t know how to read english at the time) so…..SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!!!!!!

    1. same here, I didn’t know how to read until I tried to read the games dialogue, and after playing it over 4 times, I learned how to read I was happy that my favorite game also taught me how to read.

    1. Right on time, did they let you out of Kindergarten early, also, how did I know you were going to make a comment saying this game was a “Rehash”… so predictable

    2. who cares if you don’t want to…worst comment ever, actually your comments are the worst lol

  21. I was throwing money at the screen nothing happen I crack my voice.. I never been this excited since in forever..

  22. I was throwing money at the screen nothing happen I crack my voice.. I never been this excited since in forever.. !!!

  23. And now Gamefreak fucks up just like Nintendo. Sakurai is now the only guy with a working brain at Nintendo…remaking the WORST Pokémon game and then having the nerve to call it NEW? Really, while the brain dead apes who have been clamoring for this will be happy I sure as hell am not interested in this shit.

  24. Why not release this for the Wii U?! I won’t be able to get a 3DS because I’m low on money! I will miss out on a remake of the best Pokémon game ever!

Fun Fact: I’ve never played a Pokemon game outside of an emulator because of my low money

  25. Honestly, i think they could’ve waited with this until E3. It’s only a month away anyway.

On the flipside, they just posted a net loss, so a bit of hype to make up for the shock wouldn’t hurt.

  26. I’m so hype but I’m so decisive on getting pokemon, smash bros., wii u, or ps3/4 can any of u give me the answer and don’t be giving me byest on a ps3/4

  27. Tallon Ridley XIII: Kalas

Omega Ruby will definitely be the one I buy. I should get ready to transfer all of my Pokemon from Heart Gold to it. Sorry, Heart, but it just isn’t working out anymore. You just aren’t getting any mystery gifts of free, legendary Pokemon that I’m missing like Arceus, Darkrai, etc. I just hope Omega Ruby brings the mega-evolutions over from Pokemon X & Y. And we might finally get to find out what Latios & Latias’s mega-evolutions are.

  28. Good Lord. Why would anyone want remakes of that garbage? RSE almost caused me to give up on Pokémon games altogether >.<

    1. The same reason they remaked Pokemon Red and Blue, and Gold and Silver. Next generation, they’ll probably remake Diamond and Pearl. Just because you don’t like RSE doesn’t mean it won’t be remade.
