505 Games have told Polygon that they have no plans to release the popular Terraria on the Wii U. The team says that are factors at play that are preventing it from happening and they don’t expect it to change anytime soon. Presumably it’s due to the sluggish sales of Nintendo’s latest home console that’s preventing them from bringing the sandbox title over to the platform. Here’s what they had to say about a Wii U version of Terraria.
“We do not have any plans to bring Terraria to Wii U and it is not in development. Sorry,” 505 Game wrote on the forums in response to fan’s question about a possible release on the platform. “While the control mechanism may be nicely translated (agreed on that end), there are other factors at play that prevent it from happening and we don’t expect that to change any time soon unfortunately.”

i hate nintendo, because i used to like them and i expected their games to evolve with a more powerful system in more ways then just graphics, better online, more depth, bigger scope..so on, like zelda should, it is terrible in this day and age to have such a small game, no customization, nothing but a few upgrades for the equipment, and heart pieces, maybe something like graditude crystals from SS, poe souls from TP, or gold skulltulas from OOT, but that’s it, no voice acting, small budget, and yet them game costs 60 bucks forever, nintedno usually doesn’t drop the price of their games, and it has no online (i wouldn’t like if it had it anyway) it should be more like skyrim, more alive, with things randomly given to you, or make a zelda MMORPG with like kokiri, gorons, zoras, twili, hylian, deku’s as races and make that outside the main series so we can have that as well, but make the main game with MUCH MUCH MUCH more depth, or with mario 3d world, they could’ve had online arenas with powerups or shit, online in general…anything, 2d mario games, lvl editor, online, leaderboards, same with donkey kong…..so much wasted potential, HOOLY SHIET

Little Big Planet was ONLY an editor, of course it had depth. As a game it was boring and stupid. It was cute and interesting, but the gameplay had no depth and the platforming felt awful. Mario has gameplay and tight controls all over the place. Have you played 3D World? That game is fantastic!

Terraria would sell on Wii U. You could port it real cheap and easily make money off it. It’s a dumb decision, but Terraria is not a great game anyway so we’ll live.
For the price, Terraria is one of the greatest games ever made. Considering that when it patches for new content, its free, and unlike Minecraft the price hasn’t gone up. It may appear simple, but the amount of content is staggering.

They gave a bullshit reason, but I can’t blame them. Put it this way. If a third party indie developer had limited resources and were seeking profits, would they bother investing in a console with an uncertain future, or would they just focus on other consoles with stronger momentum (an increasing install base) and bank on those? The answer is obvious. I want the Wii U to succeed, but the only way it would do so is play all their cards this E3. Mario Kart 8 is giving the console a boost, and with news of a larger library after the convention, the install base would increase. Only then can Nintendo seduce indies and some notable third parties.

Also: Why is this game on Vita but not Wii U? The Vita has had worse sales and has been out a year longer and has sold around 7 million units. The Wii U has sold over 6 million in way less time. There is no reason Terraria shouldn’t be coming to Wii U.

It’s free on PS+ and I’m ignoring it, why Sony offered it instead of bigger better titles is beyond me. The big two are probably paying big bucks to have this game on their console… something Nintendo does not do.
After all they develop games for a console and not the other way around, but some developers think differently.

If they wanted to make profits from a nintendo system they could make it for 3DS which has a bigger install base that the Xbone and PS4. Same cane be said with minecraft. Kids love playing that bullshit and lots of kids have a 3DS cause of games like pokemon.
