Here’s A Zelda Wii U VS. Princess Mononoke Comparison Video

Tilmen from Nintendomination has put together a video comparing yesterday’s marvellous Legend of Zelda Wii U reveal against a scene featured in Hayao Miyazaki cult classic, Princess Mononoke. We found out earlier today that Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma has teased fans by stating that it isn’t necessarily Link in the Zelda Wii U video reveal.

  1. Please just stop it, and here I thought this would be slightly interesting. Smh

  2. Glad I’m not the only one who thought of this comparison during the digital event yesterday. I like my Zelda with some Miyazaki influences, and as Princess Mononoke is one of the best animated movies I’ve ever seen that makes this Zelda U reveal even more exciting to me. Can’t wait to see how gameplay works in a future demo.

    1. I thought the same thing :P The art style was reminiscent of Princess Mononoke, as well as the music and animation.

      1. If you look at some of the more specifics, there are some similarities. Expressions for example.

  3. If Nintendo wanted to reach out with Zelda, they should have merged LOZ with Final Fantasy or Dragons Dogma or Dark Souls.

  4. Love Miyazaki! It’d Be cool if him and Miyamoto worked on something together, maybe that Smasg anime, haha!!

  5. Ya know for a 25+ year old franchise that embraces innovation and has a popular mythos to its own and has tons of its own background story that can be considered original in its own sense. This greatly upsets me how Eiji Aonuma uncreatively just brushed off the chances of it being unique. This looks more like the Princess Mononoke film in HD rather than an HD Zelda game. Aonuma. Go back to the drawing board. This isn’t Zelda.

    1. You are reading too much into that comparison video of Princess Mononoke & a 30-50 second trailer of Zelda for Wii U. That’s not enough footage to assume the whole game is going to be some knockoff.
