New Super Smash Bros Screenshot Shows Mii Swordfighters In Action

Following the Mii Fighter reveal during Nintendo’s E3 Digital Event last week, Super Smash Bros director Masahiro Sakurai has taken the opportunity in his daily Miiverse post to explain a few details. In the latest Wii U screenshot, the Mii Swordfighters are getting to grips with various weapons within the upcoming brawler, including shruikens, chakrams and gale strikes.

Players can choose one of three categories for Mii Fighters in Smash Bros; long-range Mii Gunners attack with projectile weaponry, Mii Swordfighters slice and dice their enemies with style and Mii Brawlers bring the battle up close and personal with hand-to-hand combat. As we learned last week, Mii Fighters will also have use of up to four special attacks. Here’s what Sakurai said on Miiverse for the above screenshot:

“Here are some weapons the Mii Swordfighter can use: Shurikens of Light, Chakrams, and Gale Strikes. You can control the direction the Chakram is thrown, or even make it stall in midair. The Chakram is also the only one of these tied to the side special move, so you can use one of the other items consecutively with this one.”

  1. So Happy the Mii’s are in, now people can stop with the stupid character requests. Want Geno to be in Smash? Now you can make a fckn Mii.

  2. I feel like the Mii will make a lot of people happy, but I personally am getting worried about Falcon, Ness, and Puff. Just a few more months and the game will release, but still no mention of any of these classic characters. They were in the first three, so they should be in the new one… right?

    1. Nintendo Commander Quadraxis

It would be absolutely horrible if Captain Falcon is not in it…

He is like the “mascot” of the Smash Brothers series in a way…

They’ll probably be unlockables/hidden characters like they’ve been in 2 of the 3 previous Smash games. Except Jigglypuff who has been a hidden character in every Smash so far.

  3. I can’t believe they actually brought these idiots in. If that’s an excuse for not having a lot of other well deserving characters, than I’m done with Nintendo.

My only problem with the Miis is that you can’t at least play as a generic Mii Fighter online… So, to me, it feels like they are hogging a space that could go to a character that IS allowed to play online.

Nevertheless, the Mii Fighters look really cool to play as and just the idea that someday I might be able to make an amiibo of my own Mii is worth it all!! :D

I think I heard that they are only allowed in friends only online battles like with how Chat is friends only in Mario Kart 8.

  5. I thought miis wouldn’t be good enough fighters in smash, but after this just blew me away and glad it doesn’t look horrible

  6. Ditto. I thought they were going to be soft. But the Miis look good to fight. Why can’t they fight online though anyone know the reason?

  7. Valve Admiral GLaDOS

Honestly I feel like they are a waste of a character spot even though its cool, sorta, but I thought it would be much more interesting to utilize them for something else like assist trophy and like have like a mii stage where you would see some of your own miis in the audience watching.
What would be even cooler is a Nintendo stage where in the background you see every Nintendo character in the spectator stand watching the fight go on.

Oh dear. Chakrams or shurikens. Tough decision. I guess I could switch out between the two when I get bored of the other.
