Twitch Is Thinking Of Bringing Their App To Nintendo 3DS And PlayStation Vita

In a recent interview, Twitch COO Kevin Lin has said that the company would like to bring the Twitch application to the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation Vita. However, if an application is created then it will be viewing only, which Lin says is much less CPU intensive than broadcasting. Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime recently said that Twitch won’t come to Wii U because they don’t think streaming 30 minutes of gameplay by itself is a lot of fun. Hopefully Reggie and Nintendo change their minds.

But Twitch’s horizons don’t end with PC and home console. The company has recently moved into mobile and is looking at the Vita and 3DS as well. “On mobile we just released our first in-game integration, with Asphalt 8 from Gameloft. For now, we’re going to be doing that game by game. Handhelds. That’s something we’d love to do. On handhelds it’s more of a server/CPU concern, but we definitely want to do it. We want to build viewing apps, that’s much less CPU intensive than broadcasting.”

Thanks to those who sent this in.

        1. If it does come it will probably range from Potato to Microwave quality, with lag and no live chat. -__-“

      1. Reggie Fils-Aime… Fuck you and your arrogant thinking as to what Nintendo fans should and should not have. You’ve always been full of excuses and do nothing but feed broken promises and lies. I don’t know whether to laugh at or take a piss between that pathetic gap between your teeth. May your offspring be that of Mongolians… Mongolians of unnatural decent..

        1. Blah. Blah. Blah. No one takes you basement dwelling losers seriously. Now continue supporting us as you always do and save the drama for someone who cares. Btw, your video just confirmed I’m dealing with middle aged clowns stuck on a children’s console, thanks for the laugh. Hahaha..Thank$ for your continual support!

  1. Nintendo, I beg of you, please bring Twitch to the Wii U! Nintendo will get more people to buy their Wii U ‘sand more people will want to use twitch through their Wii U’s!

Please do it for all of us!

    1. No! I like Twitch, but there’s a problem with our good ol’ U. Loading times. It’ll take like a few minutes to go to the home menu, THEN a few minutes to turn on Twitch, THEN a few minutes to go BACK to the home menu, THEN to finally start a game. Not worth it.

      1. Your Wii U uses a few minutes to go to the Wii U menu?! I’m sorry, but there must be something wrong with your console. Mine takes only 5-15 seconds to switch between software and menu…

        1. I got my Wii U in February 2014. During that time, I had to WAIT. I had to wait when the Wii U started up, I had to wait when it was updating the WIi U for Super Mario 3D World… ugh! I hate waiting!

I’m not like you guys because I’m not patient.

  2. I’d rather not waste a console’s processor for streaming when there are already decent capture devices that do it well (and even some plain old webcams that do it at 60fps!)

  3. I just want a twitch app where you can watch twitch streams on wii u! I donmt want to stream wii u games, i just want to watch the streams of others!

  5. I can’t say that I’m that excited, but it would certainly be a great addition to the 3ds’ application collection. I still think that they should bring it to the wii u however.

  6. I own both sothats cool but I definitely want it on wii u its where I spend most of my time gaming right now

    1. Dirty nig ger clueless broke dirty fuckin nig ger poor ugly earless big lipped nig ger you are a poor broke nig ger with no father and you worship Nintendo like lil dirty monkey nig ger

    2. Lord… Tell them of gaming truths and portents. These fools do not understand the meaning of low resolution and lazy textured environment purgatory yet the 7 year old hardware that was sold to them at a premium is blinding their minds. Maybe they don’t want to open their eyes lord. Forgiveness must be withheld.

      1. your lord said Martin Luther King is overrated, your lord makes sexist comments, your lord said gamestop employees are retarded and your lord does not know a shit about “next” gen gaming and can’t get his “M” rated games. Come on, your “god” has been downgraded to nothing.
you are losers if you worship a “god” that downloads games illegally from thepiratebay. what do you have to say?

          1. Sasori givinr black gamers a bad name. -.- lol but he has a point on the 3ds it will be 144p quality at best but still much appreciated. If I could stream pokemon from my 3ds. That would be fine.

  7. Nintendo Commander Phazon

Maybe the 3DS Twitch app can show there is interest in it, and maybe even a Wii U Twitch app will show up down the line.

    1. Learn your position, you common pawn!

You’d be a better individual if you didn’t comment with worthless opinions so frequently. This is elite Stapler. Your lack of understanding has been noted.

You will get no further acknowledgement, I demand you do the same.

Bow to the elite, bow to your god, yours truly reigns supreme!

  8. Still perpetuating the misinformed idea that nintendo hates twitch it seems..

People took Reggie’s words out of context and focused on streaming not fun, when he seemed to not be against streaming just boring streamers.. A lot of the streams on twitch are barren because they do just that, only showcase game play with a host that has little to no appeal or personality.

    1. Yeah but that’s not up to Reggie to decide, thats just a bs excuse Nintendo uses. The real reason is because they wouldn’t be able to monitize it.

  9. Reggie is so fucking stupid for saying that. At the end of the day, HE’s probably not fucking on Twitch and actually on the stage by himself. There are tons of reasons Twitch is useful, not only for showing Nintendo coverage. Especially on the Wii U, it would be perfect! But Reggie is Reggie,…stupid idiot.

  10. Don’t see why people seem to think Nintendo hates Twitch… They streamed on it for three days in a row for Christ’s sake. I think I can rephrase Reggie’s excuse: Why watch someone play a video game when you can play it yourself.
