Xenoblade Developer Monolith Soft Working Or Assisting On Several Projects

Shigeru Miyamoto has told investors that Monolith Soft the acclaimed development studio behind Xenoblade are working on several projects. Presumably they’re assisting with projects, rather than creating several new ones. However, we know they are working on Xenoblade Chronicles X and a mystery Nintendo 3DS title that we’ve heard next to nothing about. Here’s what Miyamoto said.

“As Mr. Takahashi previously said, our subsidiary, MONOLITH SOFTWARE INC., is working on several projects, and PlatinumGames Inc. has announced two titles for the “Bayonetta” series. It took time, but we are now able to develop software suitable for Wii U, and we would like to release new titles from now.”

  1. Nintendo Commander Quadraxis

Hopefully they are assisting with Starfox and Fire Emblem X Shin Megami Tensei…

    1. Monolith Soft has a Tokyo studio where they work solely on graphics and art for other Nintendo-developed games such as Pikmin 3 and A Link Between Worlds; they are very likely helping out with games like Captain Toad and the next Zelda. But we won’t know until the full credits are released. Monolith Soft’s main Kyoto studio is currently working on Xenoblade X, and an unannounced 3DS game. There’s some concept art for it that you can check out on Google Images.

  2. If Bayonetta 2 (and a free Bayonetta HD) is successful on the Wii U, I would LOVE to see Nintendo and Platinum Games to create Bayonetta 3. And as for Monolith Soft… I hope they continue their best job in making Xenoblade Chronicles X. Who knows… maybe one day that Monolith Soft assist Intelligent System in developing the ATLUS published Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem.

I always thought the mystery 3DS game was Project X Zone. Monolith Soft developed that game.

    1. No, that’s a different team I believe that makes the Namco/Super Robot Wars games. There is some concept art for the mystery 3DS game and it looks like it’ll be a completely new game.

  4. From what I can gather, this is what Monolith Soft has done and is currently working:

Their console team at their Tokyo studio is hard at work with Xenoblade Chronicles X. They recently hired more members for it as well.

Their handheld team just finished Project X Zone, so they may be working on that untitled 3DS game as they’re still hiring more programmers.

Their Kyoto team that’s working alongside Nintendo finished Pikmin 3, Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and A Link Between Worlds. They may be working on SSB4, Splatoon, and the new Zelda game for Wii U. Since Monolith Soft knows how to make open world games, I’m sure they’ll be a big help with the new Zelda game.

    1. I’m almost positive they are indeed helping Aonuma with Zelda U. Didn’t they also help a little with Skyward Sword?
