Pokemon Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire Hit 1 Million Pre-Orders In Japan

Upcoming Pokemon titles Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are set to become the most sought after games in the history of the franchise. According to Dengeki Online, pre-order sales for the remakes have sky-rocketed in Japan, hitting more than one million sales so far. And that number will continue to rise over the course of the next few weeks as we get closer to the release date on November 21.

Last year, Pokemon X and Y became the fastest selling 3DS title in North America, bringing in one million sales on day one. But it looks as if Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are set to obliterate X and Y’s record if these pre-order sales are anything to go by. Back in April, the Pokemon Company International stated that both X and Y had sold a staggering 12 million copies worldwide since its October 2013 release. Can Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire best its predecessors when they release November 21 for North America and November 28 for Europe? Let us know in the comment section below.

  1. I am not a fan of pokemon and never been but a lot of people like it and that a good thing. Bear in mind I am not a fan of pokemon but I would love to have it on wii U. Cause it would boost the sale of the wii U if it’s done properly. If they either compile all the pokemon games into a disc and do an HD update or a unique RPG game which include all the existing pokemon up to now that will be a bomb and it will sell a lot of hardware.

  2. This is Pokemon we’re talking about.
The most popular handheld RPG title in existence.
Pokemon X and Y sold over 1 million in the first day, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise for ORAS to achieve the same.

  3. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Ruby and Sapphire is considered the “best” generation by most Pokemon fans… so this is of no surprise to me. The whole new generation of kids grew up playing Ruby and Sapphire (including myself) and now we are at that age where we are borderline adults feeling nostalgic towards the third generation.

Of course the preorders will go through the roof!

What would be cool though, is if the Pokemon Company realizes that the third generation was amazing and so the next (actual new) Pokemon games emulate Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire in this way. For example, more tropical forests, volcanoes, beaches, sailing, surfing, and beachy music. The atmosphere in Ruby and Sapphire is simply the best out of all the Pokemon games. Plus the Legendaries are cool as heck. I’m sick of the dragon type legendaries all the time. Though, Xerneas and Yveltal broke this trend… I hope they continue to make more mystical beast legendaries instead of falling back on the default “dragon” archtype.

    1. Gen 1 and 2 will always be the best ones. I have always felt that third generation never fit and sadly is the reason I stopped playing for years.

But now I am back to give it a second chance!
