There’s Three Mario Games Coming To North American Wii U Virtual Console On Christmas Day

Yep, you read that right. There’s three Mario titles coming to the North American Virtual Console on Christmas Day. You’ll be able to download Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, Mario Party Advance and Super Mario World: Super Mario Advance 2 on Christmas Day, so you can’t ask for much more. Well, we are still waiting to find out when the Donkey Kong Country games are coming to the US, so there is that.

Thanks, Pete F

    1. I live in Europe and have completed all three DK Land Games 100 % on the 3DS VC. But to be honest only the first game is worth getting. Second is hard as fuck and feels like a lesser version of Country 2. Third game is not as hard but also pretty uninspired.

      1. I grew up playing the first one so when that one is released, I’ll definitely be getting it. Maybe the other two since I haven’t played those yet.

  1. Two ports of games we technically already on the VC, and arguably the worst entry in the Mario Party series. Instead of giving fans what they want (the DKC trilogy), they get kiss-off gifts instead.

My personal Christmas wish (one I’m sure that’s shared by many) is for Nintendo to start taking their Virtual Console seriously one day…

    1. SMB deluxe has a little bit of charm to it. the challenge mode makes it really fun, as well as the lost levels and minigames

  2. Fuck this. Fuck this in every hole in its existence.
    Where’s my fucking DKC trilogy?
    Where’s my fucking DKL trilogy?
Where are my fucking N64 games?
Where are my fucking GCN games?
Get your Virtual Console shit together Nintendo. The shittiest Mario Party title and 2 enhanced ports are not going to cut it just because Mario is slapped on them.

    1. Imagine the consoles they would sell if GC and N64 games made their way to the Wii U as originally planned… why haven’t they?!

  3. I loved Mario Party Advance, it was weird, but fun as hell! I don’t see why people ALWAYS find a way to complain on an article, I mean… bringing up Gamecube and N64? Really? You have to keep in mind how much they have to do to get the games to run on the Wii U. It’s not as simple as just adding on a Wii U menu screen. The N64 is probably difficult enough, the GameCube is gonna be tough to do. I’m sure eventually they’ll release VC of those two, but christ give them some time. It’s not like sales of the Wii U are all that phenomenal that it’s worth it to them anyways.

  5. A lot of you seem to misunderstand that DKC was a Rare title, and it is for that same reason we will never see DK64 on the virtual console.
I thought this was common knowledge by now.

    1. No it wasn’t. Nintendo has all the rights to Donkey Kong Country. The only thing they don’t own is Jetpack which is in DK64.

      1. Ridley, the Angel of Death

Thank you! That’s what these idiots don’t seem to get when it comes to the original DKC games. Microsoft’s Rare doesn’t own shit from those games. The only thing Microsoft owns is the Rareware logo & the Jetpac game.

Awesome about Super Mario World’s Game Boy Advance remake being available, but where the fuck is my Donkey Kong Country trilogy!?! If it’s because of Rare’s bloody logo, just remove it. I can understand Donkey Kong 64 not being released on VC since one of the arcade games you have to get a high score on to progress in the game is Rare’s own IP but the only problem I see with the DKC trilogy is Rare’s logo. Is it really that hard to go in & remove it? If this was a bloody Mario game, this issue would have done been resolved by now so they can put that game back on the market.

  8. When its gonna come my favorite games for the N64 version on the wii virtual console is DK64, Banjo-Kazooie64, Diddy Kong Racing64, Pilotwings64 and Mario Party’s 1 and 3 please anyone tell me when?
