Some Users Reporting That The Nintendo eShop Is Down

I’ve had a few emails and checked Twitter and it seems as though some people are having difficulty accessing the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. It seems to be working fine here in the UK, so presumably it’s those in the United States that appear to be having trouble with it. If you’ve been on Twitter you’ll know that Lizard Squad have taken responsibility for downing the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live, but they haven’t mentioned the Wii U or Nintendo 3DS eShop. Presumably it’s just a case of too many people being gifted Nintendo products.

          1. “Not getting many games” You mean the same ASSED games that are falsely advertised, hyped and broken at launch? Halo, Assassin’s Creed, Battlefield, Call of Duty with 3 wasted years of development time, DriverClub, Watchdogs, Destiny..sorry, 1/2 of Destiny at $60 and The Crew filled with buttload of paywalls and Microtransactions? I ain’t missing a thing from those POS skipping Wii U and in fact, I’m glad for that because 2014 has opened my eyes and learned 3rd rate parties are now nothing but fucking lying and lazy opportunists applying deception on the stupid to sell their lackluster garbage.

    1. Piggy backing your comment, but it’s nothing wrong with any of the servers no hackers, it’s just Xmas and too much people home online playing games, plus all the new systems being updated whether it be ps4, x1, or wiiu…

  1. I hope it’s not Lizard Squad, but even it they are the ones, it’s DDOS and it’s recovered in time, altought I don’t know why they would want to attack Nintendo, since they are going through some shitty situations with their products :'(

      1. Making things up? Xbox Live and PSN were attacked DDOS-style, not hacked, but their servers were filled with information force-fed by the so-called hackers. Xbox Live is back up, for the most part, and PSN is still having major issues. This was not made up.

  4. im having no problems with both wii u and 3ds though the 3ds has trouble connecting through comcast shitty internet and its only the 3ds, browser works fine but when i want to download dlc or themes it has a difficult time and im in the usa

    1. How the fuck the Wii U will be dead by June? You’re denying the fact that there will be more Wii U games to come next year and beyond (Devil’s Third, Splatoon, Project CARS, FAST Racing Neo, Star Fox U, Yoshi’s Woolly World, Kirby and the Rainbow Curse, a new Trine game, Xenoblade Chronicles X in 2015 and The Legend of Zelda U in 2016). The same goes to 3DS and the New Nintendo 3DS next year.

    1. LINK LISTEN THE WIIU HAS FAILED AS A CONSOLE BECAUSE NINTENDO HAS NOT PLANNED A NINTENDO DIRECT FOR NEXT YEAR TO SHOW NEW GAMES

  5. I almost thought that we would be in the clear this year as I thought Nintendo would have upgraded their servers for more user traffic after last year’s outage.

    1. If only they could’ve known that Christmas fell on a Thursday the same day the eShop is updated… If only they could’ve foretold that new Wii U and 3DS owners would want to make NNID, if only they could’ve known that they would have more traffic than they’ve previously gotten..

If only…. Oh hey look, my Club Nintendo Calendar just arrived in the mail today.

On a seriously note, if people are really having trouble getting online then its only Nintendo’s fault, this is Christmas on an eShop update date.

        1. How is it any of those companies’ fault? All servers are susceptible to high traffic spikes, in fact Nintendo is even MORE vulnerable to it. Don’t be a stupid fanboy

        2. Lizard Squad took no credit on the eShop “situation.” So as far as we know Nintendo wasn’t DDOS’s like MS and SONY were.

All I’m saying is that since Ninty wasn’t DDOS’s then the reason people are having issues getting online is due to the high traffic. albeit NEW owners trying to get online for whatever reason and old users trying to access the eShop because it was updated that day.

This happens last year and the year before that, you would think a company like Nintendo wouldn’t let that mistake happen… Again.

  6. A little off topic, but does downloading Retail Games count towards weekly sales numbers??? I just downloaded Smash Bros for Wii U, so just curious…

        1. Real fact: I did know a Jesus that died, he wasn’t my “friend” but he was some one I talked to.

          How’d you know anon?

    1. Your life has failed because you’re screaming like a retard. Nintendo will make a Nintendo Direct in THEIR term… not yours.

  7. JESUS IS DEAD HE NEVER REALLY CAME BACK FROM THE DEAD IT IS ALL LIES PEOPLE JESUS REALLY WAS TAKEN TO NEWGERCY IN AMERICA

  8. Maybe they’ve disabled it in light of Lizard Squad’s hack threats that could potentially target Nintendo next and update its security and maintenance. If its only affecting a few users, then its likely Nintendo’s doing by taking precautions, not Lizard Squad.

      1. Not really. You’re perhaps the dumbest fucking theory of a “logical commenter” yet.

Think about it: It’s only several hundred to a thousand who are having connection issues which means one of two things that is not related to Lizard Squad’s hacking: Either their connection sucks and should check it and their internet provider or Nintendo has undergo maintenance period to ensure the hacking won’t happen to their consumers/gamers either.

  9. I wonder if this is going to be last year all over again…..it started with some outages on christmas day and then way more on boxing day……then it lasted for almost 3 weeks….have the US Eshop servers really not been updated for this kind of flux after that disaster?
