Super Smash Bros Was Possibly Going To Get A Rhythm Heaven Character And Dr Mario Stage

Super Smash Bros fans have discovered that the latest edition to the series was originally going to have a Rhythm Heaven character included. It was also discovered that a stage based on the Dr Mario series was also planned. Of course these could come at a later date as additional downloadable content, but Super Smash Bros producer Masahiro Sakurai has stated that he has no plans for DLC.

Thanks, MasterPikachu6

    1. I think Sakurai’s inclusion of one (since Samua and ZS Samus are the same person) Metroid character might be sorta in line with how you are supposed to feel in the actual games: alone. Sure, K Rool could be nice, but he would have to be a pretty heavy character for him to fit in with smash.

  1. Super Smash Bros, it feels like Sakurai is going to to make it bland, like cake you know? You know when somebody slowly presses cake against water, and then the cakes slowly falls apart? That’s what Iwata wants him to do. After every update, characters get mushed like cake slowly getting pressed into water. The characters no longer follow example of the way they fight using the space they have. It is a blending of similarities now, all uniqueness is mushing away, it’s all the same combo carrier same characters, all to save uniqueness for future installments, but then future installments will start mushing up like cake pressed against water because then the next installment need the unique-esque types.

  2. Well, they did say no DLC for Mario Kart 8, but that happened…
But I don’t want Sakurai to handle anything after Mewtwo, and maybe the tourneys and Miiverse stage. After that, I’d rather have someone else take over so Sakurai can get some well-deserved rest.

      1. Sakurai has worked himself more than he could already. Now he’s already working on 3 pieces of post-game content. I want him to take a break. Rest. Not work in his office so furiously and finally finish the game, only to start working on DLC right after.

        1. Oh yeah, his arm. Sorry about that. Thank you Sakurai for all you’ve done despite your arm pain, and the fact you barely spent and leisure time.

  3. This is actually pretty solid news. I loved Rhythm Heaven on DS and it was fun! I think a stage for it would have been great! As for the Dr Mario stage, why hasn’t it been done yet? Dr Mario is a pretty solid series. Not THAT much but it’s kind of fun.

        1. Yeah, the Melee stages are really good. Oh, and my bad. I got confused with a stage that only had the Dr. Mario music.

  4. I think that it’ll be a missed opportunity to not consider DLC for SSB tbh. They could add a Splatoon character, this Rythm Heaven character, and old/new stages the way they are with Mario Kart. I don’t see what the big deal would be. It could be awesome and extend the life of the game.

  5. Why people hate DLC :_:! it makes the game more fun… get a job if you can’t buy DLC. “DLC” adds more content into the game, and make it more fun and intressting like, Hyrule warriors for example. I don’t complain if a game gets “Payed money DLC” I just save money when the DLC gets released for the game.

  6. To hell with sakurai. Bring some dlc. If you’re broke and have no money than that’s you’re ass. With no story mode this game is fucking dull.

    1. Throwing a curse word into every sentence doesn’t make you sound knowledgeable. Quite the opposite, actually.

Smash Bros Brawl proved that adding a story mode adds absolutely nothing, especially when it consists of god-awful level and enemy design. The adventure mode in Melee was more fun, and even that was pretty dull. It’s all about the multiplayer smashes. Make some friends. You’ll forget all about a story mode once you start beating the crap out of one another.

  7. I’d much rather have Karate Joe than the Chorus Boys since he’s one of the few RH characters to appear in all the games (including the JP only game for GBA).

    1. I’d rather have Marshal/Matt. He’s been in all of the games and is pretty much the main face of the games. His move set could be much more versatile than Karate Joe’s. That is just my opinion though. I’d be glad to have any Rhythm Heaven character in the game.

    2. He could use moves from all 3 games. An idea for his down special: pluck the (turnips??) from Crop Stomper from Rhythm Heaven DS to cause damage.

  8. They’re already doing Mewtwo as a character and (ugh) Miiverse as a stage, so why stop there?

I think this game could only benefit from DLC, paid or unpaid. There are a LOT of characters that should be on the roster, but aren’t…
