Actor Wil Wheaton Provides Voice Acting In Code Name STEAM

Nintendo of America has confirmed via Twitter that Wil Wheaton will be lending his vocal talents in the upcoming Code Name STEAM on Nintendo 3DS. Wheaton will be providing voice acting for the mighty Abe Lincoln. Wil Wheaton has appeared in movies, TV, and video games, including a stint in the Grand Theft Auto series. Don’t forget there’s a playable demo for Code Name STEAM on the Nintendo 3DS eShop to try out before the game launches in the coming months.

  1. The replies on this tweet by the people who support Gamer Gate can be absolutely appalling. I understand he said some things that you may not of agreed with, but claiming to not want to buy the game because of his participation? This is ridiculous and its stuff like this that makes the gaming industry just look much more shallow and close minded than other media forms.

      1. Bunch of children crying about the media. A lot of the GGers decided to use it to abuse women, and now the SJW’s have jumped on.

  2. I cannot believe the actor who portrayed Weasley Crusher in Star Trek: The Next Generation is providing the voice for the most important character in this game…Abe Lincoln! This game is my destiny! It is being released on my birthday here in the states, and Will Wheaton is providing the voice for Abe Lincoln! An immediate must buy for me! :D

  3. Nintendo once again making dumb decisions. This time by casting an anti-gamergate guy as Abe Lincoln. I support gamer gate, which is about opposing corrupt gaming media, NOT what people like Wheaton are saying otherwise. I was looking forward to getting Code Name Steam, but after this, Nintendo lost a sale. Bottom line.

And before you guys go all over me regarding my support for gamergate, watch this video and get back to me later:

      1. As much as gaming journalism is essentially the equivalent of monkeys throwing shit at each other I agree. Once 4chan and “tumblr sjws” got involved the entire situation turned into utter shit. I cannot and will not support either side because everyone involved is acting like a bunch of babies over fucking video games and going the route of doing/harassing each other. It’s fucking sickening.

        1. They’re upset because someone apparently slept with some fuckstick for a good review, who the fuck cares about reviews?

              1. Telling somebody to go cry some more just proves to me and every pro-gamergate person that you’re not apart of this community. Keep trying harder.

    1. You’re gonna refrain from buying a game you are excited about because you have personal differences with one voice actor that stars in it?

Of the hundreds of people that work on any videogame, I can guarantee you there will be several with which you wouldn’t get along. It’s mathematical.

Rash, illogical statements like these are the reason why GamerGate is seen as a kindergarten movement.

Get real, my friend. The dude’s only likely to talk in a few cutscenes anyway.

    1. It’s funny because I totally understand the problem that GamerGate was trying to address in the beginning but a few months after, all I see is toddlers flinging shit at each other from both sides. Stupid GamerGaters don’t seem to realize that for any Social Justice War to exist, there has to be social justice warriors on both sides…

  4. I don’t know what Gamer Gate is or who Wil Wheaton is. Oh well. I’m just getting the game, taking my Majora’s Mask pin for free, and then returning the game. Bam!

  5. i would never be stupid enough to cancel the purchase of a potentially great game just because of the voice acting of someone you dont like being present. It’s not like his influence is so great within the game that it will render it unplayable. I support developers who work hard to make great games

  6. I couldn’t care less about the actor. I’m passing on the game either way and will happily wait for Intelligent Systems’ next Fire Emblem game.

STEAM’s art style looks horrendous and the characters and story concept are lame.

    1. Does anyone even take gamegate shit seriously now since everyone involved is either a hypersensitive twat or a basement dwelling loser at this point?

    2. Nobody gives a fuck about some shitty opinion on a website. Only manchildren upset there game didn’t get a good score actually care about reviews.

    3. “GamerGate is not stupid unless you think it’s okay to suck dick to get good reviews on a shit game and feature on somebody’s website as a headline.”

By that logic, Hitler was not evil because he said to beware communism. And if you hate Hitler, then you’re a communist, right? As though ounces of right somehow trumps tons of wrong, or vice versa. A bad person or organization can have good ideas, but that doesn’t make the person or organization good. What they stand for overall and how they act determines whether they’re good or bad.

  7. All these people blabbing about not getting the game because of gamer gate and crap…..I’m not getting the game because it doesn’t look good, didn’t enjoy the demo (especially the way you wait out enemy movements), and not a huge fan of the game’s premise itself. It’s essentially just a steampunk XCOM knockoff on a portable console. I’ll just stick with my Monster Hunter, thanks.

      1. So because he doesn’t support gamergate that means he isn’t a gamer?? Idiotic comments like this shows how narrow-minded and uneducated the gamergate community is.

Supporting gamergate isn’t a prerequisite for being a gamer.

        1. I support gamer gate because I want the community to clean up corruption in gaming media. Not so idiotic now, is it?

Thanks for proving me right again.

      2. And if you don’t believe in Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior, you’re going to hell. Never heard of Jesus? You’re ignorance is no excuse. You’re still not a member of the Christian club, therefor, only the Jesus freaks are right and go to heaven.

Same with GG. If you disagree or are ignorant of it, you are NOT a gamer. Play and love games all you want, but you’ll never be a gamer until you join a special club that only existed recently. They are better and smarter than non-members.

  10. Gamer Gate, a movement on the internet where the essential goal is to make gaming journalists and company uphold ethics and standards that any other company must in any other more mainstream media. Demands that people of the industry recuse themselves if there be any mixing of business and pleasure, especially with reviews. Gamer Gate also consists of gamers who have been asking for new IP and more interesting ideas from gaming Companies.

Nintendo advertises, as people demand they do more of, their new IP and people want to boycott the game because of a voice actor in it who apparently had nasty things to say about gamers (yet is willing to work on many games to get a paycheck from said gamers rendering his words of condemnation suspect at best), not because of any improper relations with anyone in the industry to get said position… I think there are extremists on the internet…

I’m all for more ethics in gaming media and holding jackasses to the fire, but I don’t let the words of a guy who’s been in this many games, who says nasty things about gamers affect me in purchasing a game. That’s giving the guy way too much power and he sounds like a hypocrite for taking money from people he apparently hates. All I care about is improper conduct between him and the people who gave him the voice acting job and seeing that nothing ill about that popped up, welp time to judge the game on its own merits. For me, this game looks to be a Valkyrie Chronicles-like for the 3DS and I could stand to see more games like that!
