The head of Microsoft‘s Xbox, Phil Spencer, has revealed that he’s been in discussions with Nintendo and other companies about Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks. Speaking with Game Informer, Spencer explained how Microsoft doesn’t benefit when a competitor’s servers or network resources are interrupted. Instead, Spencer says, fear and distrust is instilled in the consumer when such an attack happens.
“I don’t think it’s great when PSN goes down,” Spencer said. “It doesn’t help me. All it does is put the fear and distrust from any gamer that’s out there, so I look at all of us together as this is our collective opportunity to share what we can about what we’re learning and how things are growing. Those conversations happen, which I think is great.”
Why can’t the gamers themselves act like this?
Gamers need to find a way to justify their purchase and/or lack of an additional purchase. So they choose sides and bash the opposition.

No, I’m saying that many gamers act insecure about whatever console they purchased. Even I acted this way when I first got my Wii U, but then I learned to accept that I made the right choice by buying it. I had no intentions of offending anyone with my comment, because I was also making fun of my past-self in the process.
And when I say many gamers, I’m also talking about my friends too. Almost all my friends have Wii U’s, but only mention it in private calls.

I have a lot of respect for Phil Spencer. He really has done a lot for the Xbox brand since Don Matrick left. I never really liked Xbox as a brand before (I was always a Nintendo/Sony guy before and have despised Microsoft in the past) but he really has changed my way of thinking over the past year.
He MIGHT be a nice guy, or just a good actor, the one thing we know for sure, is him being nice or him trying to do a good job is completely meaningless, since he has no power whatsoever, Microsoft uses his as a puppet and strings him along. Microsoft has all the say, he has jack shit.
He has power, he is in charge of the entire Xbox brand. Sure the CEO and board of Microsoft are in charge of him but he still has a lot of sway in what happens on the gaming side. He’s about at the same level as Reggie Fils-Aime where Nintendo of Japan is in charge of him.
Anyways Phil Spencer doesn’t blow smoke up people’s asses and I have a lot of respect for him for that. I remember how he came out and debunked all the rumors Xbox fanboys were spreading about DX11 on Xbox One and he came out and said that it wasn’t going to have a significant affect on performance. He didn’t do what Don Matrick would have done. He’s also been very smart about getting rid of Kinect and lowering the price below PS4. Also compare how fast he’s turned the Xbox One’s launch around when compared to the PS3’s.

Even while being a Nintendo fanboy myself I gotta say: What the hell makes him being anything different than Reggie then? Reggie is far more just a puppet than he is. Reggie really just throws up marketing bullshit that isn’t even working. I’d really donate for exchanging those two guys, MS can have Reggie and we get Phil Spencer who actually looks like Vampire Bill everytime I see him.

DDoS attacks don’t have much to do with security. It can happen to pretty much anyone. Precautions can be taken, yes; but entirely blocking it out isn’t as easy as you seem to think it is.

It is odd though. With the exception to the Pokemon Bank affair in 2013, Nintendo is the only Video Game manufacturer to not be targeted by DDOS, I wonder if that’s one of the reasons Sony and Microsoft want to talk to Nintendo, And possibly even give Nintendo some good tips on setting up an internet service.

I don’t like Xbox and I am sure i will not change my mind in fact xbox 1 even put me off further. nevertheless you have to respect the work of this man and his intelligence/business sense to say that we must have a talk with other company to gather intellingent on these attacks. For me I think is a logic move and as his says, it is also in his interests and other company to do that.
