The rumour mill continues to churn and with it comes news that we could be getting an additional five characters in Super Smash Bros. Someone dug deep into the Super Smash Bros source code and found that there are five open slots that have yet to be filled. The very same person also found that there’s an additional stages coming too. There’s currently room for seven. One of these new stages is thought to be a Kirby one as there’s a number of Kirby songs included. So far we’ve got:
- Mewtwo
- Lucas
- Roy (rumor)
- Ryu (rumor)
- ????
- ????

I’m honestly thinking King K Rool is going to be one of the outcomes of the ballot. I personally want Banjo and Kazooie, but even I can see K Rool getting in over them.

Ryu wasn’t really picked per se, but these hidden sound files with Ryu and Roy are proof that these characters were planned beforehand. So if there’s one person to blame, it would have to be Capcom since they are always greedy for money.
Ignoring Capcom, Ryu does fit well in this game being one of the only two characters who come from a “fighting game” and the quirkiness of Capcom’s various crossover games does fit into a Nintendo crossover. There’s no way of telling whether the themes were left overs or work in progress but the fact this info was uncovered after the patch is suspicious. Maybe Nintendo forgot to remove them from the code

Ryu gets way to much undeserving hate because of his company same with Rayman. What happened to everyone’s favorite hectic fighter? Sure Capcom has made some bad decisions but they haven’t ruined the series unlike Resident Evil

Not only does Ryu not have a reason to be in Smash 4, it would mean there would be two Capcom characters. I’d say Rayman is the only other third party character that has a shot since he’s already a trophy.

Actually, Roy Koopa is a character we deserved for a long time. Along with his 6 siblings. Sure he’s an alternate for Bowser Jr but I’m not going to complain about getting Bowser’s TRUE children.

I read after submitting my vote in the SSB poll that the character’s would be 3.99. At least Mewtwo will be, so hopefully Nintendo will keep them cheap like that so it will push people to buy them. I didn’t want Mewtwo at all, then after playing him and knowing the price, ill definitely be getting him on the 28th I do believe. Lucas has no date, but ill end up buying all of them anyway.

I wouldn’t completely rule out a Street Fighter character such as Ryu.
Mostly because there was a small reference to the SF fighter: “IBUKI”

Except you don’t know that, Sakurai could have decided to let people chose the DLC characters. That would give him time to rest before October 3rd.

I think the takeaway from this is that, including Mewtwo and Lucas, there’s going to be a total of six DLC characters in Smash Bros. Of those unannounced four some may be ballot winners but it seems like there won’t be any more then that.
You know they can add more spots to put characters in. Not to mention Wolf us obviously coming back, that leave one more spot for a predetermined character, and after that character they make a unknown number of characters from the ballot.
Wolf is all that matters, nobody else.
Roy? Really? We already have a Marth clone, why do we need another? Ryu is also kinda stupid because the last SF game we gor was SSF4 3D. We didn’t get Ultra SF4 like the other consoles and obviously won’t be getting SF5. Stupid stupid decision if true.

Well, Wolf is obvious, si that leave 1 more spot for a character. If they have more placeholders I would agree, but i think they would fill the the placehoders as Non ballot dlc, and then after Oct 3, they will make the Ballot characters.
Wolf is speculation. There is nothing that has pointed to that. Now, does it make sense with a new Starfox game coming out. Sure. But there was nothing in the files discovered that Wolf will be in it. Now, if there is source missed, that is on me and if there is something noted somewhere, in all honesty, please point me to it. But to state factually that the open spaces are not for the ballot and that Wolf will be a DLC character is incorrect at this time. I am not saying it will or will not be incorrect, but that right now, we just don’t have that information.

I do admit that, at least for the Wii U version, I would trade all of these DLC fighters for a mode even somewhat like Adventure Mode from Melle.
Sakurai should have given the Wii U version Smash Run & Smash Tour for the 3DS. It would have fit more for Tour to be on the 3DS, to be honest, since it’s a portable console.

Sakurai even stated before that he did not want to go overboard with the involvement of 3rd Party characters in the Smash Bros games.

I disagree. His leadership has been questionable since Melee when he made Ganondorf into a Captain Falcon knockoff/wannabe when there was a ton of stuff from the Zelda franchise that could have been used for Ganondorf’s moveset. For instance, he could have given Ganondorf a trident of some kind.

I guess it had something to do with the many fans that begged for him before the game came out, even Chronobound said that he was the second most wanted cut veteran for Smash (With the now returned Mewtwo being first).
Even though I think Ryu from Street Fighter would be a really fantastic addition to the roster, and I would love to see Roy ( Fire Emblem ) return, I personally think these rumors are false, mainly because Street Fighter is from CAPCOM just like Mega Man, and I think they’re only going to add one character per third party company like Sonic The Hedgehog for SEGA, Pac-Man for NAMCO, etc, Smash is still a Nintendo game after all.
