Nintendo Speaks About Amiibo Availability Issues

Nintendo of America has taken to Facebook to address the all-important issue of amiibo availability. The company says it is aware of the growing demand for the figures and is looking at ways to increase production. Nintendo of America also says that they are looking to reissue certain figures and bring back out of stock amiibo.

“We appreciate the enthusiasm that our fans continue to show toward amiibo. Sales for the product have exceeded our expectations. We understand how frustrating it can be at times if consumers are unable to find certain figures, and we apologize for that.”

“We’re trying to meet the demands of our fans and consumers by increasing the amount of amiibo we manufacture and ship to retail. We may continue to see consumer demand outpace supply levels for certain characters at times, but we will do our best to prevent that from happening.”

“As our library of amiibo continues to grow, some figures will be easier to find than others. We are constantly looking for the opportunity to reissue amiibo and are already making plans to bring back some currently out-of-stock amiibo figures. Stay tuned for details.”

“Nintendo plans to make it easier for consumers to know when new amiibo are on the way, through Nintendo press announcements, timely updates on our social media channels and working closely with retailers.”

“We remain committed to keeping amiibo affordable and easy to access as a platform to enhance game-play experiences. These plans include Animal Crossing amiibo cards that will become available by the end of 2015, and a free-to-download app for Wii U called amiibo tap: Nintendo’s Greatest Bits that launched on April 30, 2015, that lets consumers enjoy playable scenes from certain NES and Super NES games with amiibo”

              >>>Surely you can do better?>>>

        1. Brazil
          3 reais (our money) = 1 dollar
they are costing 90 to 120 reais.
But my brother bought ones for me on Australia, so I’m not that sad anymore.

        1. Yeah, it’s extremely catchy. There is indeed a lot of songs from Mario 3 that I like the hum to. My favourite Mario soundtrack is the Mario 3D World soundtrack. That sweet Orchestrated Soundtrack…

  1. This looks like a step in the right direction, but honestly, I’ll believe it when I see it. Or a Villager amiibo at my nearest store. Whichever comes first.

    1. Yeah, nobody’s word can be taken seriously nowadays. Trust can only be obtained when the appropriate action has been taken.

  2. Well at least Nintendo is aware of the issue. Hopefully the issue gets resolved as soon as possible. It probably should have been sorted out quickly after the issue originally arised, but better late than never. I hope that the Splatoon and Yarn Yoshi Amiibos get are in high enough supply. The Yoshi one, to my understanding, won’t been in high supply, as it is handmade and not machine made. Like I said, this is to my understanding, based on what I heard from the Direct…

    1. No I think there machine made, but made to look hand made. Could be wrong about that, though I’m fairly certain.

      1. Alright, if that’s the case then, production of the Yoshi Amiibo should be on par with the amount of other Amiibo then. Thanks for the information.

          1. No idea. I literally own Zero Amiibo. Might get the Yarn Yoshi and the Captain Falcon Amiibos in the future though.

    2. Ahhhh! Those poor Chinese children will have to work some serious overtime to keep up with the Yarn Yoshi Amiibo demand. Keep up the great work kids! I’ll play some more Smash while they stitch me up some Yarn Yoshi’s. Capitalism at it’s finest.

There’s a fine line. Communism is just extreme capitalism, if I’m not mistaken.

  4. What about high demands for Gamecube controller adapters for SSB4? Oh right, they didn’t give a damn since day 1, when it was already sold out in stores.

    1. Don’t know how they didn’t see the demand for those. I pre-ordered and I have two of them myself (one from the smash bundle, one separate) just in case, but who thought they would be in short supply. Honestly I wish Nintendo would just make all their Wii U games compatible with the gamecube controller (which they can OBVIOUSLY do since they did for smash).

  5. I’ve been lucky, so far out of all NA releases that have come out I am just missing Pit, wii Shit Trainer, Ike, & King Dedede. Missing a pre-order for Jigglypuff, Wario, Lucina & Robin. But as I said, I have been lucky lol. Walked in and bought a villager and a marth one day at target like right before they became impossible, just for that possible reason lol. Glad I did, just wish I had bought more( I get doubles of ones I open, to keep a boxed version).

    1. Ridley, the Angel of Death

I could have Lucina… if Gamestop didn’t fuck up the damn amiibo preorders for wave 4 on their god damn website! They should have been better fucking prepared! It almost feels like they purposefully fucked it up.

      1. Dude I know I got to my gamestop 2 hours early and was second in line and still couldn’t get all the ones I wanted (which was everyone lol). 2nd in line not getting their order? That’s ridiculous. It came down to which gamestop stores had the best internet service and most towers around.

        1. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

I know. Gamestop… ugh! They already get enough hate as it is & this wave 4 debacle just showed me how bad Gamestop can be.

          1. Yea lol there was no preparation planned at all. How can you have all your stores go live nationwide for preorders at the same exact time and not have pre-planned for it.

            1. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

I partly think Gamestop did it on purpose to put a stop to online scalpers. Only problem is they screw those of us that can only get the amiibo by using the internet.

              1. I was in line at a store. I thought that gamestop ended up not putting any preorders for wave 4 because they sold out in store?

                1. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

They should still have the wave 4 amiibo up on the site for when & if they do get more shipments of them in.

                  1. Oh that’s good to know, I’m sure they’ll sell out in seconds though lol. Friday is gonna suck man.

                    1. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

I’m glad I won’t be having to deal with it. For one, I won’t have money til the 1st of June. xP For two, I’m tired of rushing to get these things now.

                      1. Don’t blame you lol. If I hadn’t come this far I wouldn’t go further, but I have everyone but Ike, Dedede, Wii Fit, & Pit so I can’t stop now lol. I honestly haven’t even minded hanging out on previous waves cause I met cool people, but now it’s getting ridiculous cause more people are catching on and less stock seems to be available.

                        1. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

I just need Palutena, Lucina, Ganondorf, & Zero Suit Samus & I’m done with the amiibo craze. Oh & Mewtwo. Can’t forget Mewtwo. I really hope we get Ridley as a DLC character because I’d LOVE to own an amiibo of him from Smash.

      2. Too late. I’ve moved on. I stopped giving a shit about Amiibos a couple months ago.
The novelty has wore off. The amature hour distribution and scalpers running the show while Nintendo shrugs their shoulders. Fuck off. I’ve been saving my money for competent companies who know how to properly sell and distribute products.

        1. I’m sticking with Nintendo, there’s no way I could live without the Zelda franchise, or most of there franchises actually. I couldn’t care less about Microsoft and Sony though. Especially Sony.

          1. i’m not bailing on Nintendo, I’ve bailed on rediculously over priced Amiibos because Nintendo has purposely limited Amiibo supplies to increase demand. I own five Amiibos, and that will be it. Obviously, Nintendo doesn’t want my money.

      3. more villager and fox amiibo please D:
I want them so badly.. Villager is my favourite character on the new smash bross ^^

I’m so luck my brother is on australia and bought the splatoon ones, bowser and toad amiibos for me, I’m so happy ^^

        1. Nintendo Lieutenant Cereza

I pre-ordered the Splatoon Amiibo as well. I have yet to Pre-order the game though as my sights are fixed on Xenoblade X.

      4. In my Irish voice I’ll believe this when my shit turns purple and smells like purple surburt…. Nintendo is Artificially making this supply and demand bullshit I quit collecting these pieces of plastic or shit however you wanna roll da dice

      5. Acknowledging the problem is one thing. Actually doing something about it is another, and we’ve yet to see any real effort come from them.

They better not restock the common ones like Mario or Kirby or Link- you can go to the nearest gas station and get them. No, they need to restock the ones they purposefully limited for no good reason like Marth, Pit, C. Falcon, etc. And in the future, be more prepared for pre-orders- Wave 4 and 5 pre-orders were friggin’ nonsense.

      6. Sounds like Nintendo of America is doing damage control and they don’t seem to be on the same page as Nintendo of Japan…because the latter WANTS these to be hard to get and wants retail exclusives in order to drive up the “value” of their product and their name.

        1. Also, making Amiibo “cards” defeats the main purpose of wanting to get an Amiibo. People don’t just want the game character, they want a cool figurine to display.

        Dear Nintendo of America,

Quit pulling PR bullshit from your ass & actually do something about it! Quit saying it & fucking do it!

        Sincerely,
        Enraged Ridley!

PS: YOU FUCKING FAIL!!! And not just with amiibo! GET A BETTER MARKETING TEAM, FUCKING RETARDED APES!!!
