Wii U Misses Out On Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5

tony_hawk_5You all probably remember the super-fun Tony Hawk series of video games that appeared on multiple platforms. Well, the latest iteration has been announced and it would appear as though it’s coming to all home consoles apart from the Wii U. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 is coming first to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and then coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 at a later date, but there’s been no mention of a Wii U version. You can read more about the game, here.

    1. BUT THIS IS PURE NINTENDO NEWS, WHAT ARE YOU TYPING ABOUT PIKACHU!?

All I can remember is trying to line up the most stupid combos and gaps I could make happen. Completely unrealistic skating. Now Skate was a great game. If its already been confirmed for 360/ps3 then yeah, not likely. But like you was saying, pure Nintendo news babay.

        1. That was the point of the game, it was more realistic. I’ve always found Skate to be a much better representation of actual skateboarding. Tony Hawk is just stupid ridiculous, but that is what it’s known for.

I thought the use of sticks in Skate was really clever honestly, because it almost mimics what people do on skateboards with their feet and legs. It added much more of a challenge, and it wasn’t an easy game to play like Tony Hawk was.

The physics in Skate are way better also, Tony Hawk is so floaty. I think Skate did a much better job of capturing what skateboarding is about. That is all I know the game for, is being the most realistic skateboarding game out there.

Now if you want to know what it is like to play a difficult skateboarding game, go play Yanya Callabista City Skater on PS2. Heh, I really liked that game when I was younger, poorly received because it was so hard to play with that tiny skateboard you attached to your analog sticks…

Thash: Skate & Destroy on PS1 was really fun also, I always liked that game better than Tony Hawk as well.

          1. That’s fine, I just really loved the Tony Hawk games so much. It was really imaginative and made me like skateboarding. So when I played the original skate games, it felt super slow and kind of barren. I want more to do besides tricks, you know? I wasn’t in to skateboarding that much, so Skate really made me upset, due to how badly the TH series was declining. To me, the HD remake (hardly a remake though) felt slow to me. I always liked the Underground series better (the first one, the second one’s story is too ridiculously stupid). Thps is ridiculous to an extent, like collecting letters and breaking/ collecting certain objects, yes, but Skate and Tony Hawk have similar stories, to become a professional skater. I also have played Thrasher and it’s fun, but it’s not perfect imo. It certainly needs a sequel/remake.

    2. Nintendo Lieutenant Cereza

Alright everyone, Awhile back, we got a lot of complainers that AAA were being reported on the site, but silently dropped. So as to stop the amount of mail asking where the games went, we here at MNN confirm which AAA titles are NOT coming to Wii U. Life is complicated.

    3. Nintendo Tetrarch Quadramus-NX

      >>>I think we’ve gotten this question asked about 5000 times now to the point were it’s become pointless to ask it>>>

    4. Exactly. It makes me wonder how people have readers. They always post the same stuff “not on Wii U” blah blah.

To be honest, Tony Hawk is so dead that I wonder why they even decided to make this game again when the shit was killed after underground tony hawk 3 was the last good game in the series, and God save me for thinking that they had a skateboard game with the actual board. What foolishness.

    1. Tony Hawks games are all the same. You’ve played one you’ve played them all. No loss to Nintendo owners.

  1. I’ve never played a Tony Hawk Skater game, but from what I’ve seen, I don’t exactly get it. As in, I don’t see the point. That being said, if I said that the games arn’t fun, I would be beyond my right of opinion, as I haven’t played any of the games.
Am I the only one that is sick of these ‘This game isn’t coming out for the Wii U’ articles. I get that it’s to inform Wii U owners that if they were looking forward to a certain game to play on Wii U, then they can’t, but these are way to frequent…

    1. It would have been more effective if you typed it as ‘Oh no I really wanted to play that…NOT.’ Anyway, I get the point.

    1. Nintendo Tetrarch Quadramus-NX

      >>>It was never fun back then either, you were just a little human baby back then, more easily amused>>>

      1. The Sega skating game in the arcade was super fun, I think it was called Top Skater. You can’t really play it with a ROM though, you need to play it with its controller otherwise it looses a bit.

I still didn’t mind Tony Hawk, but I wouldn’t go buying another system to play this, but if its easy to get.

      2. I'm a Boss Ass Bitch

I’ve might have been a so called baby then, but I still had fucking taste in gaming. Tony hawk was a game me and my friends joke around with all the stupid shit you could do in that game.

  2. Missing out on what?

There are only two ways to enjoy skateboarding, use the real thing or watch somebody else do it. It’s funnier to see someone cringe after their nuts hit a hard object or even the horror of an epic faceplant on concrete…

  3. Ok then… Fuck wii u.. Time to move on to Sony! Im a have a blast on summer vacation while wii u is gonna have a blast in the garbage in new york city. This is the last straw of no wii u games third parties. I have no games to play that im interested in.. Don’t. Call me cry baby. Cause i cant stand this bull anymore…

    1. Well no one will miss a fake ass Nintendo fan like you anyway. And who’s to say this isn’t the game that Tantalus could be porting to the Wii U after the other versions release

        1. The more I read your comments the more I realize how much of a hater you are who’s trying to pose as a Nintendo fan

          1. So you have to be a stupid fanboy like you to be considered a Nintendo fan? The logic here amazes me! (And you plague this site as well? SMH)

            1. Because I belong here, see unlike you and your girlfriend Rootgamer I am a REAL Nintendo fan not a fake one (like you) who just jumps on the bandwagon when they’re doing well

    2. If third party was all that ever mattered to you, that in and of itself is evidence that you haven’t been a fan of Nintendo consoles for a VERY LONG TIME.
Nintendo has not gotten strong multiplat support for GENERATIONS now.
When the Wii U finally did, most of said multiplats were INCOMPLETE AND LATE.

So instead, Nintendo focused on replacing them with better quality exclusives.
And it shows: Nintendo currently has some of the best-rated exclusives of the generation despite sales of the Wii U, and a far higher amount of games that don’t cut content to sell as DLC, and that come out with far fewer meaningful technical issues, if any at all.

The short of it is, the Wii U has a great library of games right now.
If you can’t find anything at all on it, that’s down to your narrow tastes and unwillingness to try new games that you wouldn’t normally give a chance to, over games like Tony Hawk and, likely, other sports games and casual games like CoD.

      1. “Nintendo has not gotten strong multiplat support for GENERATIONS now”

Have you ever heard about the Wii?

        1. I own it. I still stand by my word: that was not strong support, that was a boatload of casual games and half done core games, with a smattering of underappreciated gems.

      2. I can understand how he feels. I ended up selling my Wii U from being disappointed with Nintendo. For me, it wasn’t just the lack of third party, but there were a lot of other issues I had with them. I’m pretty much just a Nintendo fan “on hold”. I see no reason to get another one yet probably until Starfox and Zelda release. I don’t care about Smash or Mario Kart anymore because I played the death out of those already before I sold it and I grew bored of them. Anyways, this gives me a chance to finally play OTHER GAMES than Nintendo’s now. (I own a PS4 now and eventually getting a PC) It’s a breath of fresh air after having nothing but Nintendo consoles for so long. And at least whenever I actually do get another Wii U, lack of third party won’t affect me anymore. Can’t see myself getting one anytime soon though because I’m still very disappointed with them… The decision to not bring the standard New 3DS to North America was pretty much the last straw for me. That was just infuriating.

        1. I can nderstand where you’re coming from on the N3DS issue, but as far as the games library on the Wii U?
It doesn’t sound like you gave many games a chance on it, if Smash and MK were all you ended up playing in your last moments as an owner.
          No offense.

          1. Those aren’t the only games I had. Anyways, the games are not the problem. The real issue here are the decisions that they make. Nintendo’s refusal to fix the problems that I have with the Wii U make me not want to support them. Like I said earlier with the whole New Nintendo 3DS situation, I was willing to buy it if it came over here and like it’s Nintendo is trying to slap my hand away as if they don’t want my money. Which pisses me off. I’m getting tired of them slacking off and people ignoring the problems simply because they have good games. Like you said, they haven’t had proper third party support for GENERATIONS. That’s insane. But they have managed to get away with that because they know there are people that still like to play Mario, Zelda, and other Nintendo franchises. As long as they’re still raking in cash, they’re gonna try as little as possible to actually fix anything.

            1. Their third party problems are not entirely their fault, though.
Third parties have consistently treated Nintendo fans worse than they have fans on other systems with the Wii U, and the Wii.
Unlike the PS360, where they didn’t give up if a few games didn’t sell well, they almost immediately dropped the Wii U despite many of their multiplats not being new games with equal content support ane lacking in advertisement push for the Wii U versions to boot.
Nintendo cannot force its customers to buy third party games, and no amount of more powerful specs would have made games like AC Black Flag sell better on the system.
Only third parties hold the power to make people want a system for multiplats because they are the ones making those games.
And before you mention power being the reason, consider that Destiny and CoDAW could have easily fit on the system, and were touted as next gen games, but came to even weaker last-gen systems instead.

              1. I know it isn’t entirely their fault. But it is they’re fault for intentionally putting weaker hardware into the Wii U. Developers would have to strip away features and downgrade the games which give even more reason to avoid buying them on the Wii U. And the only reason those two games came to the weaker systems is because of sales. There’s still a huge amount of people playing 360 and PS3 that haven’t upgraded to current gen consoles. The same cannot be said about the Wii U. Those people have either moved on to casual gaming or Sony and MS scooped up whatever remaining hardcore gamers Nintendo could’ve had.

                1. The weaker hardware reasoning only sounds good until I think of how many games recently have had all that more powerful hardware to work with, yet only used to to look prettier, then sold off of that and marketing.

Let’s face it: the sales for those games could have been good on the Wii U if the third parties cared enough to use the right kind of content and advertisement to draw the Wii U owners into it.
We both know that they wouldn’t have raised millions, but they wouldn’t have failed in sales if the right efforts had been made.
And, gameplay-wise, there’s nothing about the Wii U that should have held back CoD or Destiny from arriving and selling okay.
The same thing goes for most of the multiplats that have arrived on the Wii U.
Power didn’t hold them back from selling.

    3. Ridley, the Angel of Death

Well if the Wii was any indication, you really shouldn’t have bothered getting a Wii U if you’re major concern was going to be 3rd party games. If your major concern when getting a Nintendo console isn’t for the Nintendo games & 3rd party exclusives for Nintendo consoles, you made a huge mistake buying the Nintendo console in the first place. But have fun with the PS4! If you like annual multiplats that barely change from last year’s game, I’m sure you’ll have loads of fun on the PS4.

If you don’t like my first paragraph, I can always resort to a less civilized, more fanboy paragraph where I insult you & call the other consoles trash, blah blah blah. >.<

    1. This ain’t no fanboy thing, is because actually the latest games this franchise were depressing bad, and there are far better games in which the owners of the Wiiu need to worry.

This generation is full of bad games and expendable, not counting the remasters that PS4 owners love to play.

  4. didnt activision say to wait for more game announcements, like black ops 3. expect something to be announced at e3. nintendo likes making big splashes, so it still could come.

  5. The game not coming to Wii U is still Nintendo news, the news is that it’s not coming to Wii U, dumbass bitches; also what new exciting news has been coming out that’s Nintendo only related recently? I can’t remember the last good news from Nintendo, so deal with it, or enjoy days of no news updates on this website like what happened with Nintendo3DSblog.com.

    1. By this very flawed logic you’re attempting to shove down throats, every game coming to any system should be news on this website. Which is bullshit, like the rest of your comment.

      1. I didn’t say every video game should be on here, i said, if a news about a game that isn’t coming on Wii U is published here, it’s still relevant.

  6. Peanut Butter Kit Kat

Good, I’d rather play it on 360, released on time, than wait for a year and a half for a crappy port to finally make it to Wii U.

  7. It’s not coming to the Wii su cause the Wii U has problems, it’s not coming to the Wii U cause of Activision, same reason CoDB3 isn’t coming to the Wii U.

    1. A lot of gamers felt that way about the PS4 thinking how great it was going to be at launch but only to have no exclusives and broken unplayable 3rd party multiplats and indies to rely on……..smh LOL

      1. A lot of gamers felt that way about the Wiiu as well, thinking it would get third party games. But in reality it got nothing

        1. The Wii U does have 3rd party games but your overrated ass PS4 only has ONE worthwhile after a year and three months LOL

          1. Why do you say i have a PS4? I don’t dumbass i have your dumbass Wiiu in my home. And even if that’s true the PS4 has support from everyone, the Wiiu? Fuck no! They left in the first year!

        2. No, it got quite a few multiplats in the beginning.
They were just all games we’ve already played, with missing content.
Which is the fault of third parties.

    2. It’s been a pretty good run, especially if you want first and second party titles.

I’m considering this being my last gen of gaming tho because it’s getting worse and worse. No NX for me I think.

  8. I actually have fond memories of the PSX version (I forgot which one that was exactly), so I’m little disappointed that this won’t be coming to the WiiU. At the same time, I fear it may turn out mediocre so I’ll just leave what I think of it in the past.

  9. Honestly this is a pass we can live with. Why Activision is bringing GH Live but not this is anyone’s guess

    1. Ridley, the Angel of Death

Apparently they feel this game isn’t a party game unlike Guitar Hero Live. *snickers* A party game is exactly the kind of game this fits right in with.

  10. AND WHO ON EARTH GIVES A SHIT THAT FRANCHISE IS DEAD AND THOSE GRAPHICS ARE LOL

ALSO GAMEPAD COULD REVOLUTIONIZE THE GAMEPLAY LOL TONY HAWKS

  11. Anybody remember the tony hawk demo disc that just had the warehouse level. I probably put 100 hours into that demo alone. Never owned the full game..lol

  12. I’m still buying it, I’ve been waiting for another Tony Hawk game since Project 8, and that was the last GOOD Tony Hawk game

  13. Pingback: Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 is Real! – The Guardian Pidgeon The Guardian Pidgeon

    1. I have a Ps4 too, but it damn sure aint for Tony Hawk 17. It’s for Bloodbourne and the Witcher… etc etc..

  14. I am legit excited for this game! It’s unfortunate that it’s not coming out on Wii U since I started playing this series on the N64. I’ll definitely pick it up for Xbox One though.

  15. If it’s not coming to Wiiu then it’s garbage, fucking Nintendo fans never cease to amaze me.

    1. Then why is your punk ass on OUR site. Go carry ass over to Dualshockers or something or go play some of those broken glitchy ass 3rd party multiplats on your overrated ass PS4 and shut the fuck up

      1. At least the PS4 has third party games the Wiiu wish it had. And what you gonna do if i don’t leave tough guy? Nothing that’s what,so keep your mouth shut,i ain’t going anywhere.

    2. Kinda like how if anything that looks fantastic turns out to be on the Wii U, that game is automatically garbage to everyone that doesn’t own a Wii U.

Don’t pretend that it doesn’t happen. All the petty complaints over, and dismissal of, games like Bayonetta 2, Devil’s Third, Xenoblade X and many others proves it.

        1. “At least the PS4 has third party games the Wiiu wish it had.”
          Same is true in reverse.

It happens all the time. There are plenty of games on the Wii U that people look down on, despite wanting, simply BECAUSE they are on the Wii U.

If you are denying that, then you honestly DON’T know what you are talking about despite owning “the shitty console”.

          1. Well no shit people don’t pay attention third party games on the Wiiu, cause consumer’s knows those games will be crap on the Wiiu. Missing features,no DLC,crappy graphics, terrible framerate problem. (But some were actually pretty good on the Wiiu)

            1. Correction: people don’t pay attention to AAA third party multiplats on the Wii U.
For smaller multiplats, like the upcoming Yooka-Laylee, and exclusives, people do take notice.

              1. Take out exclusives cause Bayonetta 2 was released on the Wiiu and only some cared. For a game like that then it’s unacceptable

                  1. That’s because the first game was multiplatform. It’s like the Rise of The Tomb Raider situation. Obviously people would be pissed about that. Why would anyone be upset about the other games like Xenoblade X when the original game was never on other systems in the first place?

    1. Pretty much this.
I’ll be surprised if this is any good.
I’m almost positive it’ll sell well because they’ll market the crap out of it and the popularity stemming from the console wars will do the rest, but it’s already been proven before now that sales and popularity due to hype don’t always accurately indicate the quality of a title.
I’d be saying the same thing were it coming to the Wii U.

  16. LOL! Now this is REALLY a series/genre I care nothing about. And never will. Skateboarding…….ah heck, you know the rest.

  17. never been interested and will never be but understand some people may feel gutted about it. To be fair I don’t think the game will be a success if i am honest and givng the fact they release it on every console except the wii U tell me they really want any sell but are looking for a minimal sell figure which let’s face it wii U won’t be able to achieve. Also bear in mind it’s easier/faster to develop on PS3/Xbox360 cause the development is very similar to PS4/Xbox1/PC than developing the same game on wii U.

  18. Not really a big loss, I used to love this game but “meh” I don’t really care for it anymore.

  19. Ridley, the Angel of Death

Good thing I thought this series was boring even when it was on a Nintendo console, so the ones hating on those for dissing this game solely because it’s skipping Wii U can just ignore what I’m going to say next.

I always felt this series was crap with maybe a mild interest in the original game, so I could care less if it skips the Wii u or not. Sucks for those that might have wanted to play it on Wii U.

But at this point, if you bought the Wii U solely for 3rd party games, you have no one to blame but yourself for missing out on the many multiplatform games skipping Wii U. Time to trade in your Wii U for a PS4 or X-Box One.

    1. It’s Nintendo’s console. So they’re responsible for getting third party games on their platform. Don’t try and place the blame on the buyer because it’s NOT they’re fault. They payed for a video game system so they expect GAMES!

      1. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

I’m not saying they aren’t responsible, but if a 3rd party just doesn’t want to make a game for the console, they aren’t going to do it even if Nintendo does offer something in return. >.< Back on point, I can & I am blaming them because they are partly to blame for their predicament. Everyone knows Nintendo consoles are for Nintendo games so you should always buy a Nintendo console with the mindset that you want to enjoy their 1st party titles. Buying the console JUST for the 3rd party multiplats is just asking for trouble.

        1. But why should somebody be forced to play only Nintendo games? That’s the problem with Nintendo consoles. You don’t have a choice. You can either play Mario, Zelda, etc, and a couple of indies. If you don’t want those, you don’t get jack.

          1. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

Well they did buy a Nintendo console, didn’t they? What’s the point in buying a NINTENDO console if you have no interest in any of the NINTENDO games? That’s like getting Steam solely for 3rd party titles & not playing any of the Steam exclusive titles!

            1. I’m not talking about people that have no interest in Nintendo games. I’m talking about people that enjoy Nintendo games, but also enjoy other games as well.

              1. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

Then I’m not talking about those people. I’m talking about people like you that went in thinking you’ll get a ton of 3rd party games & only ended up playing around 3 Nintendo games.
