Here’s Plenty Of Footage From The Splatoon Demo

I’m sure you have all been enjoying the Splatoon Global Testfire demo. I know a few of you encountered some issues when playing the first bout of the game and hopefully those have been resolved now. NintenDaan has captured a bunch of footage from Splatoon Global Testfire which you will undoubtedly want to check out if you haven’t had a chance to play the game yet. The next bout of the demo begins at 8pm UK time.

    1. Just jump to the top. lol.

It is really easy if you hold jump in preparation for the next platform in mid air, you can climb pretty fast that way.

        1. Again if you prepare your jumps ahead of time, and also time your jumps so you aren’t always jumping so high. You’ll climb a lot faster. If you always fully charge your jumps, you’re going to waste a lot of time. Sorry, forgot to add that part.

    1. I only used splat charger, but based on the better splattershot players I came across. They always killed me up close, so I’m assuming you need to be up close and personal for that weapon to work well, since it has a shorter range.

Some would also pin their opponents in paint first, then pick them off once they got trapped.

    2. My tip for the splatter shot is to not shoot down to cover ink, I’ve noticed a lot of people do that. Shoot outwards swim through the ink (since it’s faster and fills up your ammo) and shoot out more. If you encounter rollers, back up while shooting to kill them, that way they can’t get you while your firing.

    1. The only problem i have is that the right stick is way to sensitive for looking up and down.

        1. I know you can change the sensitivity. Even if i lower the sensitivity, looking up and down is still too fast.

          1. Yea they need to fix this, it doesn’t seem right. They should give us the option to change each axis sensitivity separately. Or at least have them work the same, and not one axis be faster than the other.

    2. its 2015 why turn off the gyro IT RAPES SECOND STICK JUST LIKE WII RMOTES DO

WHY WOULD YOU WANT CLUNKY ASS CONTROLS

          1. yea it’s not tight enough and if I have to move the controller all over it just isn’t as accurate in my opinion, especially after using it in nintendoland on the metroid levels. If I have to turn around in circles in real life to aim at stuff, somethings wrong.

            1. I’m glad I noticed the option to change the controls right away, probably because I was looking for the option. It is unplayable with the Gyro controls. I wouldn’t even have played the demo if they forced the gyro control scheme. As it tuns out it didn’t matter much in the end.

              1. I didn’t even get to play, I first got the Limit Reached message, and after that I might have gotten through but my roomate and are friends were playing Mortal Kombat X so I couldn’t see the TV lol and at that point I just joined them cause I hadn’t played it yet.

            2. You have to use the motion controls AND the stick like it’s designed. If you only use motion control than you have to do all that weird stuff to aim. Use motion controls for aiming and smaller movements, use right stick for big movements. If you do that it world perfectly.

              1. I recall doing that but honestly can’t remember. I know in Captain Toad you could do it too on the cart levels and I recall doing the gyro and joystick combo, worked a lot better than nintendoland. Although I haven’t played nintendoland since maybe the first day I played it lol.

              2. That would be great, if you could do more than only look left and right with the analog stick. In other games, you are able to use the full motion of the analog with the gyro also.

I simply play better with the analog sticks. So I don’t have use motion controls at all, and I’m tired of hearing people say you have to use it or you’ll be at a disadvantage. If that was the case I wouldn’t be ranking 1st in almost every match I play, even when I lose I’m still the best player on my team.

I’m not trying to brag either, if I sucked I’d have no problem admitting it. It just goes against what everyone is saying, that you need the motion controls to play this game better.

Use what works best for you, it really is that easy. Some will play better with the motion controls enabled, and some will play better without.

                1. I just don’t like it when people tag on the motion controls, they both work fine, but I think the motion controls are less clunky, that just my opinion though.

    3. Good to hear, going to be recording this game a lot myself! The gyro controls weren’t comfortable in this game, too fast paced!

  1. I played all the weapons (swapped em up a few games) I didn’t use the sub weapons very often like the ink bombs, ink balloons, or the ink thing that was a timed grenade(forgot the name). The wailer was op! I didn’t use may of the other speical weapons like the grenade storm, the bubble sheild, or the ink balloon storm. I had some trouble getting use to the controls but the last game I played I was the top player on my team :3 I got much better after playing just 4 games. This just makes me wanna play splatoon even more now!

  2. I don’t know if anyone has copped on to this but it seems Nintendo has let YouTubers monetize Splatoon footage and audio. I haven’t had any copyright claims on any of my Splatoon videos online…Are Nintendo changing their ways? It’s strange haha

God damnit nintendo! I hate it when you release demos of games I don’t want! It makes me play the demo and want them badly! Haha

  4. I don’t think they should have released this demo. A lot of people that were going to buy it have now changed their minds. They are already bored of it. Personally, I thought it was mediocre and with the lack of voice chat… Splatoon is a miss.

    1. I’ve seen a lot of people who didn’t want it and now they do, it’s not a miss, go back to your glitchy AAA Hollywood games.

    2. Seems the opposite. I think they made the right choice by releasing this demo, many people were bummed by the lack of options and many were just on the fence in general. This demo has persuaded them regardless.

Although I still really want voice chat myself. Oh lord, the teams I had today were even worse than yesterday… I wanted to talk so badly…

    >>>I really hope there is the option of playing it without motion controls, it doesn’t suit this type of game at all>>>

    1. There is, if you press + when you’re choosing your weapon, you can turn them off. What I do find weird though is the y axis is more sensitive than the x, without motion controls on which can be annoying at times.

I hope they patch that, cause you can only change the overall sensitivity, you can’t change the axis individually.

  7. Loved the demo, motion controls give you that fine tuning if you use them well, very well integrated! Anyone who can’t use them is just bad at adapting, because it worked wonderfully for me!

    1. Or… They just play better without it…

Why does everything have to be a war over such trivial nonsense? Also, I want you to honestly read that back to yourself and listen to how dumb it sounds…

“Anyone who can’t use them is just bad at adapting, because it worked wonderfully FOR ME!”

Some of us prefer to use the sticks instead, and can actually play just as well as people using motion controls. It really has nothing to do with adapting, but everything to do with personal preference, and what a person is more comfortable playing with.

  8. I didn’t care for this game when they announced it at first, but playi g the demo clearly changed my opinion of it. I am now going to buy this game… SO MUCH FUN!!

  9. I didn’t even know there was a demo of this until I read comments and saw these posts. But I still don’t care about trying it out.
